I'd rather gear stay at 160, got too many gold sets i can't be bothered remaking.
    PS4 EU DC

    Current CP : 756+

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

I'd be surprised if the CP cap is increased without increasing gear cap. It's currently as if we have Veteran Rank 50 characters but our gear is still capped at V16.

I hope they do with their next expansion. At least I am hoping for another Orsinium size dlc with extended Guild quests with new threats for Mages, Fighters, Thieves, and Dark Brotherhood.

5 levels or 10 I'll take it. Hopefully they'll add new skills too and maybe a new class. I want to see a Battle Mage class that gets buffed for wearing Heavy Armor.

MMO's are built upon the carrot on a stick concept. Once a set percentage of people have acquired the latest carrot, it's time to tie another one to your stick. This means new and more powerful gear, as well as new and more powerful levels.

ZOS has started publicly that they are raising both once the kinks of removing Vet level were worked out. Expecting otherwise is not only delusional, but will most likely leave you flat footed come the change.

We already know, that they are planning to increase that cap. Datamining showed us the materials for 170 and 180 CP etc.
So it's coming sooner or later. When, we don't know yet.

Really? Seems like very few would ever have any use for the CP 170 mats.

RNG in this game is atrocious; absolutely horrible. I have 11 characters. I will be damned if I need to grind thousands of hours just to min/max them again. Grinding for the perfect drops all over again is not fun. I am sorry if the OP feels he has no need to play anymore. But don't force the rest of us to start from scratch just because he lacks incentive.

There should never be another gear level increase. The champion system was supposse to replace the gear grind. They should increase the CP cap and add more/new sets, but that's it.

Don't feel like dropping another 500k+ on another gear set.

OP saying "it's been a year" doesn't apply to everyone. Due to bad rng I just recently finally got all the monster sets I needed to finish off my builds. I really don't want to start all over again so soon. Grinding more CP will be bad enough.

People will quit if we need to upgrade gear. Have you seen the price of legendary materials? How about the people who have been grinding dungeons hundreds of times and are almost close to completing a set. If gear level goes up again, I guarantee they're going to kill themselves...or someone at least. Last time we went from v14 to v16, people were outraged. Plus, like they've said, this game is advertised for casuals who play the game for a week or two and take a break until the next dlc drops.

    Wow..... just....wow.....

I don't think you understand what this mean. This is an MMORPG, not a MOBA. There need to be some kind of process or sooner or later, people will lose their interest. As I said, I don't even bother to run dungeons anymore. Many people taking a break (who knows if they're coming back) because there is nothing to do anymore. This, in the long term, is not good for the game.

There are plenty of examples of MMOs that either only raised their cap once or never raised it and were still very successful.

Make more challenging content, don't just put in arbitrary grinding.

It's been 4 DLCs max level gear doesn't change (only converted from vet 16 - CP 160). Yeah, yeah... I know, some people will cry about the grind they have to do to replace all the gears, but... IT'S BEEN A YEAR! I haven't bother to run pledge for a long time. New motifs but no reason to craft new gear.

However, they just update SO to v160, and might have to balance the trial again if players have more powerful gear. Also I think they are almost done with the 2 new dungeons, and re-balance them will take time too. One Tamriel is coming, probably at the end of this year, with everything scaled, maybe a good time for re-balancing and increase gear level.

So what do you think? Do you want gear level cap increase next update? Or wait till One Tamriel at the end of this year? Or later?

Some times a gear level increase is just what a person needs to let them know it's time for them to move on from a game.

I don't want gear level increase with the next DLC. They can raise the CP cap with out changing the gear.

"... no reason to craft new gear." Are you "crying" you want to craft the same gear set in a higher level? Isn't that kind of like complaining you want your car to break down so you can buy a newer model of the same car? If you're running Hundings now and your going to run Hundings later ... you'll still be running Hundings unless they decide to nerf it.

As for re-balancing, there doesn't need to be any change in gear level for re-balancing. They could just change the set like they did many sets when they were found to be OP.

There are plenty of gear sets they could mix into Pledges to make people wish to do them again. It doesn't take a gear level increase. They could take sets that currently don't drop in them and add them to the mix. The v1-13 sets that don't drop in CP160 could be improved and added to pledges. They could add pvp sets that you can't currently earn through PVE. The could create new gear and items.

"IT'S BEEN A YEAR!" No. It's been about almost 10 months at v16/cp160. HOWEVER...
    • They JUST reintroduced SO and all that gear.
    • They also JUST added crafted sets with DB (and all other DLCs).
    • They FINALLY increased PVP gear to CP160 with DB.

... Gold has been flowing and people have been farming ... so that 1 DLC later that gear becomes worthless? ZOS is going to make the other Trials relevant again and adding city capture to Cyrodiil, and at the same time you want to reset everyone's gear? Casual will be a week or a month or a year behind those with more time on their hands where as currently they'll just do a little less DPS then those with the latest and greatest gear until they get a chance to get geared up again as well.

Then there is the shrinking PVP population. Increasing the gear level will kill PVP for a few days at least. Since IC how many campaigns have they removed? Shouldn't IC have increased the populations in Cyrodiil?

Raising the CP cap isn't that big of a deal in PVE but in PVP it could cause some issue. They just made major changes to stamina builds and increased armor buffs for the first time with DB. There is plenty of balance yet to be done. An increase in CP at this point will change and possibly break the balance of Cyrodiil. They still haven't balanced Battle Spirit out of Cyrodiil. Perhaps we'll see Battle Spirit further decrease the effectiveness of damage, shields, and heals as a result of a CP and gear level increases.

Gear level increases should be announced 6 months in advance or they should do it on a schedule so people are ready for it and don't waste there time and resources to find there newly completed gear (weather it be via farming or crafting) worthless about a month later.

Vet10 > Vet 12 > Vet 14 were designed with cap increases in mind. The grind for new gear in those situations is not even remotely close the the grind they designed into the Vet 14 > Vet 16 cap increase. It's almost as if they had a plan for Vet 16 to be the permanent cap and introduced all sorts of extra grind along with it... which makes sense if it's the new permanent cap. The huge amount of mats for v16 compared to v15. The INSANE rng you have to fight for WGT/ICP/trials gear as well as the BoP aspect of Pariah/Briarheart/Trinimac. All of these aspects point to a permanent V16 gear cap and it was even mentioned at the time that V16 would be the permanent cap. No other increases.

There was massive outrage when the cap actually increased to V16 at a time when we all thought the next move would be to remove vet ranks altogether. ZoS, however needed to implement this last increase in order to solidify the end game grind. As much as I hated it at the time and still don't completely agree with it, it does make sense to do so IF this is the permanent end game gear cap.

If they choose to raise the cap again, they need to go back and fix this hot mess of v15 and v16 gear they created before moving forward. In my opinion, they've set themselves up for this to be the long term gear cap. There are plenty of other ways to advance characters and raising the gear cap any time soon will just drive players away, myself included.

When players putting in 40+ hours a week measure end game gear acquisition in months/years then having a cap increase just doesn't make any sense.

While I will eventually desire another increase in the gear cap, I do agree that it shouldn't come until at least Q4 or later.

BTW, those of you who believed CP would remove the gear grind were not listening when they insisted that making the progression system purely based on Champion Points post 50 allowed them to detach gear from the leveling system and raise it at a different pace, that was *always* their intention and it was easy to see as we watched the idea of veteran rank removals evolve.

The gear grind encourages only the 'raiders' because they are the people on the edge of play who get bored without new shinies as their motivation. There is another group of people trying to catch up who never quite make it that are negatively effected by adding new levels, a third group who never really notice since max level is barely even a consideration to them, and a majority who just want to enjoy the game without having to worry about their efforts being invalidated.

This is the same in every MMO and honestly I think constant level cap increases are outdated. There are many more ways to keep people interested without moving the goalposts constantly.

More power, new mechanics, new looks, new classes, new powers or anything they can add on top that doesn't invalidate previously expended effort will go much further.

Again though, it has been nearly a year since the last time gear caps were increased. Imperial City was the introduction of VR16/160 gear. If they raise it at Q4 or Q1 2017 that would be well over a year and far less often than many other MMORPG's or other Online Games have done.
