Just not on actual jewelry!

Why not add jewelrycrafting to the PTS update, Z?

Why not? Where else does Jewelry come from if not crafters? Do they just magically appear? I really think Jewelcrafting should be a thing but an extension to Black Smithing since its not far off. @STEVIL

BC right now the inability to craft jewelry prevents wearing two crafted sets to 5pc.
You CAN get two full 5pc sets but one must be a drop set that comes with jewelry and that limits some minmaxing.
Similarly the ability to just equip gold upped jewelry is noticably difficult.

Allowing crafting of jewelry opens the power up door wider and imo right now the power level is more than sufficient and many aspects of the game wont be improved by the uptick.

I guess I'm the only person who doesn't care for spellcrafting. Seems like a great way to make everything generic.

The similarities between blacksmithing and "Jewelcrafting" ranges from almost nothing to absolutely nothing, depending on which part of "Jewelcrafting" we are talking about. About the only thing similar between blacksmithing and Goldsmithing, or Silversmithing, is the fact that you shape metal with tools. The scale of the work and the size of the tools involved are so different that we are talking about completely different crafts. The similarities between blacksmithing and the cutting and setting of precious gems are absolutely zero, nada, zilch. I am a blacksmith and a welder by trade, and I couldn't make a gold ring with a gem set into it even if my life depended on it.

So to sum up: "Jewelcrafting" should be a craft of its own, not an "appendage" to blacksmithing. Certainly the various crafts in eso has very little in common with what goes on in the real world, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. (Take "tempering alloy", for instance: Lots of it added as finishing touch, after the weapon, or armorpiece, is finished. Not when you are refining the actual metal... Oh darn I'm feeling a rant coming on. Must, stop, typing, now.)

@ola.wilhelmssonb16_ESO I wasn't very knowledgable of Metal Smithing than. It should still be an extension because thats how it worked in Skyrim if you are really concerned Black Smithing can be renamed Metal Smithing.

ZOS real talk I can't page him the way his username is.

you are not alone - spellcrafting would be a disaster for the game IMO.

With spellcrafting you take the size of balance packages down to single spell... with obvious consequences.

Existing sets or future sets.... if crafted jewelry isn t set-possible it wont be used by the majority of the gaming public. Same way the cool end-o-quest gear stuff isn't used. See anyone running around in the accumulated Queen's armor set gained thru the AD quest line? No,. Same with the various ordinator pieces. BC they aren't sets.

if it is set possible, even with "only future sets" as some form of bizarro compromise that accomplishes nothing my argument stands.

Most people want Jewel crafting to get to use it on crafted sets. if you see it for any other reason, you IMO are in the minority and a "non-set" jewel craft system wont be of much use to many.

if your position is to not have it usable on set peices, you should state so explicitly not just as a vague unspecified perhapsish question. Then see how many people are all-in for non-set jewel crafting.

    IMO YMMV

@STEVIL If no one crafted the Jewelry where does it come from? This adds into the mysterious parts of game mechanics like how do some butterflys don't have wings, why can't guards die, and last but not least how is there over 9000 Vestiges! "Elder Scrolls Online I know."

With the Mage and Apprentice Boons that sounds evil.

Thief and shadow would still outperform that...
