Should bosses be guarantee a set piece drop?

So I thought with the current problems of RNG whether set pieces should at least drop when defeating the boss to sort of relieve the stress of RNG a piece of gear with the traits you want.

At the most this would actually make killed the bosses very rewarding, at the worst it makes set pieces less exciting for players. It's a balance between excitement and practicality.

I personally like having to work for my stuff, even if that means running the instance over and over and over again.
I do not like having everything handed to me.
Plus, it is more rewarding to finally get that piece you've wanted, thus my vote being No.

IC dungeon bosses do give guaranteed drops now. If you mean monster helms that's another thing. We've all ground them out over too long a timer period now to just hand then to other people for nothing still them you've got a 1 in 8 chance of getting the trait and then a 1 in 3 of being the weight you want.

I don't mind playing the game. I actually like the game. I detest The RNG Gods they are a vile, cruel, mean, mistress and I wish she would go the way Greek Gods of old and fade away into the myth and legend of past generations.

I am still farming for Briarheart, you heard me.

I've run the daily and Orsinium World Bosses since Orsinium launched on two to three toons four to seven days a week depending on my schedule.

I have yet to see CP160 set piece weapon of Pariah, Brair, or Trininac and the fact Orsiinium still drops CP150 gear after the VR removal and the gear scales to CP 150 even for CP 160 causes me to have serious questions about how that got overlooked. Especially since Dark Brotherhood scales gear to player level.

It's not "working for stuff", I'm playing a game for fun and enjoyment and would occasionally like to get cool shiny new *** to use and okay with scattered amongst the junk that is the rest of the loot.

Someday some game designer will come up with a better system then RNGJessus and customer service emails that say just keep at it. You will get there. And I hope the game is good and successful so developers quit with this RNG BS.

It's one of the single most logged complaints of people who play any game with RNG loot drop and RNG drop rates.

It is one of the biggest frustrations I have with this game.

As to guranteed drops I won't say yes or no. I just want to play and enjoy and when you have a certain aspect that routinely diminishes play and enjoyment it should be looked at as needed.

I think a token system would work best.

I don't do dailies every day, if I could collect tokens then at least eventually I could get a piece that I needed for my build. It would provide me an incentive to do dailies, but without that feeling of dread that I would get nothing (useful) for it.

Token system would be nice as long as items required aren't too cheap or too expensive. At best I think Armor pieces should be 5 tokens (35 total runs), Jewelry are 10 tokens (30 total runs), and weapons are 20 tokens (do I have to tell you?).

I don't understand why people advocate a token system that does nothing else to pointless grind than making it more predictable (probably longer if RNGesus loves you). But it is still a grind. If you completed a tough dungeons a few times it is not an achievement ('hard work') anymore to complete it a few more times for the tokens, but it becomes simply a tedious, task, to do over and over again. I have enough of those in real life, no need to add more in a game I play for my enjoyment.
Imo completing tough content should always yield a desirable reward. More reward possibilities should be the motivation to run the same content again, not bad RNG.

No we have already enough useless drops, no need to add more of them. Just look at bosses where you get garanteed loot (e.g. SO). Yesterday I got an elegant bow and a restoration staff of viper.

In my opinion loot drops should be random and not easy to get, but all loot shuld be tradable to some extend. If zos doesn't want people who haven't completed a dungeon / trial to have it's gear, fine, but at least allow trading it for items from the same dungeon / trial. It's so annoying when you get an item where you know that guild mate totally needs it, but the only thing you can do with it is deconstruct or sell it to the npc vendor.

There are 7 pieces of armor and there are 3 jewelry pieces. If you always got 1 token per run from the final boss, you would need a total of 35 runs to fill out every Armor slot and another 30 runs to get all 3 jewelry pieces. This assuming drop range gave you absolutely nothing each and every time.

I'm going to say no because I don't think it needs to be a guarantee, but I do think that traits that no one wants or doesn't make sense should be eliminated off the loot table possibilities.

The drop rate has increased a lot. There is almost no (no at all ?) Boss kill in WGT/ICP anymore without a set piece drop.

The issues which remain:

-set lottery -> stamina, magicka, Jolting set drops (what the hell was your intention concerning this set Zenimax ?)
-trait lottery
-increasing difficulty to get the last missing set piece for a favored set with a useful trait as more set pieces you already have

I prefer a token system. In every Undaunted places a new NPC merchant/crafter will give you the option to select which monster set, armor and trait you want. The UI shows a list of gear ranging from weapons, armor and jewelry sets. After making a selection, you need to select a style (if armor or weapon), trait and enchantment. A confirmation dialog should appear before "crafting" the selected gear. Also, tokens amount can depend of what gear and additional customization is required.

Some examples:

a) Open rings section -> select willpower set (+150 tokens) -> select arcane trait (+100 tokens) -> select magicka enchant (+50 tokens) -> craft (300 tokens total)

b) Open rings section -> select willpower set (+150 tokens) -> select arcane trait (+100 tokens) -> craft (250 tokens total)

c) Open armor section -> select "undaunted bastion set" -> select light/medium/heavy (+50 tokens each) -> select style (lets say breton is the default style, so it charges +10 tokens if another style is selected) -> select trait (+50 tokens) -> select enchant (+50 tokens) -> craft (160 tokens total if style changed, 150 tokens using default style)

d) Select monster shoulder/helm -> select skorya (+150 tokens) -> select light/medium/heavy (+50 tokens each) -> select divines trait (+100 tokens) -> select magicka enchant (+100 tokens) -> craft (400 tokens total)

and so on...

EDIT 01: each final boss (on both normal and veteran dungeons) should give you 25 - 50 tokens (guaranteed).

EDIT 02: you can also select the gear level you want, obviously they should cost much less tokens. My examples take CP160 token costs.

Not answering the poll since it brings the conversation off topic by design (and the forum polls are pointless).

ICP, WGT and vMA all drop set pieces from bosses. Main bosses. I am fairly certain the same applies for MoL and SO.

Since they are the only dungeons that have set bonus that matter outside of helms I csn see the need for this thread.

Additionally, traits I want may not be the same as what you want. Some want divines and others infused. Sometime sturdy and well fitted are desirable. It all really depends on the purpose of the gear and the focus of the player.

I dont mind it the way it is now for the 4 man dungeons and monster helms. However i would still prefer a token system.

I would do unspeakable things to get a token system for vMA however. Even with 50% drop chance on last chest for maelstrom weapon the RNG is bull***t. 5 runs yesterday. Got 4 S/B sets and a defending dagger. Now THAT is some bull.

What's your point ? Stupid RNG doesn't make the game harder to "win" (whatever you think that means), it just makes it tedious and dumb...

ZOS could make it so you need to run 50 Vet Dungeons for a piece's worth of tokens, but at least it'll be the piece I want with the trait I want...

What number makes it not "I win" for you ? 50 runs per piece? 100 runs ?

if you have a minimum of self esteem in a mmorpg you will work your way to the top. NOT complain until you get fed your reward without any efforts.

grinding raid was always part of the mo concept. if you dont wanna grind your way to the top stop playing mmo and go play maplestory and other pay to win games.

the above was a standard until world of easymode came out.
before they added RNG to trait line raid pièces had infused, divines, impenetrable and reinforced for armor and precise sharpened for weapon. they added rng to the trait line because they received massive complains about strait quality loot being too hard to get.

[EDIT] also if you are asking how much is not a "IWIN" option consider this: im the guy whos going to spend 3 months farming raids and saving dkp's to go up against other players. if you call this hard core then you have NEVER played a real mmo before.
EVEN in wow they dont hand loot to everyone so tell me how can a "modern type" of mmo rpg where everyone get loot can say its too hard to get loot when you guys complained that getting loot was too hard?!?!

I personally love a token system.

Maybe you run Vet ICP 10 times. You'd get set piece you want with the trait you want. Run it 50 times and you have a guaranteed full 5-piece set, assuming you did not get a single piece you wanted from loot before you hit the 50 run mark.

Would make me happy to not grind something endlessly for loot (....vMA).
