Someone said it's likely a bot voting multiple times via multiple IPs and that could very well be it. Far as I'm concerned Runescape ended at Runescape 2 and even that was bleh. Jagex just kept piling on the useless crap more and more... Runescape 3 is their pitiful attempt at a 3D MMO and it's no longer Runescape as a result so yeah 12k votes is definitely bogus.

It's not a bot. Runescape subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape) gathered up and voted for it.

Sorry, but until ZOS comes out with a comprehensive and strict policy on cheating and exploits I will not be voting for them as MMO of the year. They need to address this, haven't done so, and they don't deserve the votes.

What is or isn't a MMo is nebulous.

You just aren't going to see MMO's that has the Tenants of EQ. There is a metric crap ton of people playing which is massive many are playing together which is Multiplayer and it is Online.

Sorry can't vote for ESO. I've never played Eve, but I've heard great things about them and I've always liked the way Trion interacts with their community. Trion support has also been excellent when I have needed them - only problem is their game launcher. Both of these companies aren't afraid to patch things when they go wrong.

Edit: Too bad Trion has two games on the list to divide their votes, so I'll vote for Eve instead. It's reputation is what all the others should aspire to.

4. I am an Elder Scrolls player going back to Morrowind, and involved with online multiplayer RPG games from long before that. I like the idea of One Tamriel, and I am even OK with some battle leveling, but there will be no place in One Tamriel where you need to fear for your life once this rolls out. Forever lost will be the feeling of challenge by going into places where you might die, and the subsequent feeling of accomplishment when you don't. We will be "Neo" fighting the "Agents" at the end of the Matrix. Fighting with one hand while yawning with the other.

6. I believe that they have the wrong person in charge of combat mechanics. Not going to say anything more.

7. ZOS has Crown fever, and it is not clear whether this is because they are on their last leg and need cash NOW, or whether they are just raking in cash now against a bleak future when the game is less popular. Remember what I said about "interesting things to do"? Well, Crown Store does not even come close, yet it seems to be what ZOS thinks everyone is doing. In any given update, I now expect that most of it will be Crown Store, DLC and base game. ESO Plus is struggling to hold against that, even with the Bag of Holding, since many of these Crown Store features are things that should really be included (or cheaper) with ESO Plus. I feel like I am a subscriber that is being nickeled and dimed with "extra charges and fees". The 1500 Crowns per month really does not cut it anymore.

I really can't vote for ESO. It does not matter. RuneScape seems to be stealing the vote. Probably does not matter what anyone else votes for since it is now rigged.

* I have said that I will be here, in the game, on the very last day that the PC/Mac NA server is up.

I am right there with you on 4 and 5. I voted for FFXIV because even though I don't like the extreme vertical progression and dislike global cooldown. They have a ton of classes and content that last awhile, the dungeons are pretty damn difficult and party synergy is tight.

This game was damn near the perfect game for me when they were pushing progression and permanence. Alot is changing, and I want more skill lines so I am kind of on a wait and see mode for this game for a bit.

With all its flaws I voted ESO, because it is the game I play the most, well the only game atm lol.

Why would I vote from another game that I hardly play anymore or dont play at all?

Lots of people putting down ZOS /ESO , why bother coming to this forum if you hate the game so much?

Well from what it seems most people like the game but just hate the Dev team.Most of us actually love the game but most feel the Dev time laziness and unwillingness to fix bugs and other issue makes the community toxic to them ,not tr game.

BUT NOW youre ALL here in this forum with 1000s of comments and posts here. You read the patch notes word for word, buy the DLC the second it comes out, have maxed out characters on all the slots and play for hours everyday.

Get used to stuff like this. The forums are a toxic place. People who don't like the game really need to just leave but they can't because they are lying to themselves when they say this game sucks because they continue to play it.

I think most of us love the game, but believe ZOS can do better. Blindly voting for ESO will not encourage ZOS to strive to be the best they can be, especially when you would be denying a better company what they may be due. There really are no avenues for feedback to ZOS on how they are doing outside of the forums.

mmmmmm That's not really it.

Yes the forum are toxic, but the Toxicity is mainly form those that bought the game really don't play and feel that they have somehow been wronged.

I was at Quakecon last year and there was a fairly good sized group of folks there discussing ES games. Many were of the opinion that Elder Scrolls games should be single player only and that the best way to keep it that way was to make sure ESO fails. they were buying cheap keys creating multiple accounts to basically bash the game on the forums.

But this is nothing new it happens to a lot of MMo's. Astroturfing , guerrilla marketing, shilling are all old practices that are still effective. It's pretty much why forums today are basically playpens for those devs that even bother having them.

You don't see a lot of developer interaction because a lot of the time the devs won't be talking to Joe gamer they are talking to Alan Agenda, or Amy Astroturfer. It's sad because it completely screws the honest gamer with honest opinions.

But not much can be done about it.

Take the forums with a not a grain of salt but a huge ass salt block, they are not representative of the awesome ESO or ES community.

Voted for ESO because I really enjoy the PVP combat system in this game and it's the only MMO that is even remotely interesting for me.

Tried a few others but got bored pretty quickly. Not sure exactly what it is about ESO, but I've been playing off and on about three years now and have never got bored of it.

Due to voting fraud committed by members of the Runescape and EVE communities both games have been disqualified.

Wow, some people wanted their game to win this random poll that badly?

I can't vote for a game that is featuring the fact that most people don't want to play it for more than 2 months at a time. Or a game that is still trying to get core game mechanics, like health bars and gap closers to work. I bet I could pick any game on that list and find that base combat is in working order.

Story and atmosphere wise? ESO knocks the socks off all those games.

First, not voting ESO doesn't mean we hate the game, it simply means we are not examining the game through rose tinted glasses. It does not deserve to win best game, sadly, and that is probably why players that have long lost trust in Zenimax stick around in the forums. We recognize the game has or had potential and hope the developers and managers will eventually remove their heads from their asses and start fixing the problems, or at least more transparently addressing them.

Because we started off likeing the game but when you can't even ride your mount through Orcinium with out getting 5 loading screens, or do Vicp and synergise explode as soon as you click on them or you get portals spawn and you die even though your clearly in them in time, your fighting invisible enemies and the list continues to grow after each dlc.

Thats why.

It's just funny as hell and ironic.

You see all these EvE fanboys on these forums praising their game to the sky and talking about the evil Zos and how they turn a blind eye to cheating.

EvE is about cheating and screwing your way to the top, the cheats and scams in that game are rampant and the community is well known for manipulating polls.

It would be nice if this would shut up the EvE apologist on these forums even for a day...but it won't.

Just hope this makes the rest of the community consider the source when they open their yaps.
