Nothing against ZOS but I will be voting for EVE Online this year (again) because although I left the game to come here fully their expansion this year and continued effort to fight lag in fights (2000 players in system without TiDi) have impressed me again.

Also these polls always bother me as it's not "best" it's "most popular" or "most able to mobilise their player base"

I wonder if ZOS will notice the trend of how CCP Games gets votes from people who are not actually playing their game because they do such a good job with the game as developers.

What makes you think that we don't play EVE as well?- From where comes the notion, that you can just play one or the other?

EVE has another principle of how skill is gained - it is time-based, you don't have to grind in EVE. Me for example, I have items and ships in production which need attention this afternoon again, but not before. When it will be ready, I will login, set up the new production, get the products to the trade hub, buy a bunch of new resources and arrange the transport to where I need them. But before it will be afternoon, I can do something else.

Considering Zenimax is part of the package with ESO, the game doesn't deserve to win. We still have a complete lack of communication from the company, Exploits and Cheat engines being used left and right in PvP and PvE with near to total impunity, complete lack of class balance... Convince me... Why should anyone vote for a game in such a estate?

Oh, I was forgetting to mention the mess that Zenimax has left consoles since the release of the Dark Brotherhood... A no number of players that can't even load their characters because they are in a city? An even greater number of players that can't stay online for more than 15 minutes at a time because the game is that unstable? Another portion of the community having to AoE their way through dungeons because half the time the bosses and mobs won't properly spawn and remain invisible? Yeah... ESO really deserves to be voted the best MMO of 2016.

After some intense playing I get bored out of my miiiiiinnnnd ;____; so I doubt eso is the best...however some of those mmos are completely different, the comparison isnt as fair I think because in the end it is all about preference not which one is actually the best.

Gonna have to consider that site ***. How can Runescape have 11k votes? I refuse to believe that's legit when all the other games have less than 1k with the exception of 1 that has 3k or so.

ESO is not a bad MMO, at least not on PC and if you focus on PvE rather than PvP - but it does not deserve the title best MMO. The Dev team makes an effort, and that is why they got the award last year, for the effort put in to change their mess into something better, it was not by reasons which would really count for best MMO - and it was awarded by - one person - biased. I like ESO, because it is Elder Scrolls, not because the team would be that good - while in comparison EVE deserves the title for both, passionate developers and a great game and awesome interaction with the community.

It is really not hard to achieve that, you only need a bot running the voting for you, clearing the IP with every new vote.

Let my EVE Sub lapse for only the second time in seven years just after fanfest this year. The game is still fantastic but I wasn't really doing anything on it and only paying to train skills which I really didn't need. Decided I would head over to ESO fully and stop the half-in half-out that you dance around when you play two MMO games.

I too kind of regret it now with everything that's been happening the last couple of months in ESO. I really want this to be a great game but I can't get over the strange direction and lack of security the game has.

How can people vote for a game which lets cheat programs (and their users) run rampant, has been lagging for 2 years (now with the lag even going over into PvE areas), countless bug which are not adressed whatsoever every DLC, poor performance and overall without a clear direction/vision?

ESO has (or had) an incredible potential, especially the overall combat system, PvP as well as their capabilities regarding end game content. However, ZoS has been doing their best in killing said potential.

Right. But you need to judge the MMO on the qualities of the MMO (or lack of thereof), not the qualities of the company. Doing otherwise is missing the point of the poll.

Right now the quality of the MMO is entirely dependant on what you're doing. If you're a casual quester who likes TES games then you can say it's the best.

If you're looking for competitive gameplay which is fair and protected by enforcement you're going to be saying others on that list are best.

Uhh, right after fanfest, so you missed out on the new citadels which are now popping up all over the place in the universe, with player-driven station services and so many ways to play EVE in new ways. Just on wednesday after fanfest they released that expansion.

Yeah, I was over in Iceland for fanfest but wanted a break from the game as well, everything is super exciting right now especially coming off the end of world war bee. I'll probably get shunned for saying it but I am part of CVA and a Caldari RP Corp so there isn't really much happening in the game for me right now.

Any way should probably stop derailing this thread.

I judge a game on both for both are relevant. Even if ESO was perfect and it is far from it, Zenimax being the company directing the game would still have me turn to vote for another game. Customer Support hugely affects how pleasant your game experience is and Zenimax's would struggle to be worse than it is. Communication and trust on the company also hugely affect one's experience while gaming and currently Zenimax deserves no trust and fails to communicate in every level.

I am still waiting on the Mods or Forum admins to pin a discussion about cheats and exploits to the top of their forum. A discussion with a first post that isn't about protecting those cheating from being persecuted, which they well deserve to be, but listing all the exploits and how they are punishing players found using those and reiterating their position on using third party programs to improve your game play, specially on the 'cheat engines'. Maybe when that happens I will consider trusting Zenimax again.
