I do resto/dw on my templar healer. I spend most of my time on my resto bar but switch to my DW bar for spells I want hitting hard like BoL / shards / sweep / etc. About the only thing destro brings to the party is weaving and elemental drain, but since I spend most of my time on my front bar I'm weaving resto light or heavy attacks anyway and as for elemental drain I've got orbs for magicka restore and usually a magicka DPS runs drain anyway.

DW is no option since you can't cast drain with that

For the build, you have to go with Destro/Resto. 3xWillpower Jewellery, 1xMolag Kena, 2xTorugs pact and 5xeither Julianos or Kagrenacs hope as long as you don't have Spell Power Cure. I won't start with anything fancy like twilight or worm now ;D
As for your skills, you have some essentials like:
Repentance to restore stamina to the party
Elemental drain to restore magicka and reduce the enemy's spellresistance (about 15% dmg plus on bosses)
Siphon from the resto line to restore even more magicka and heal your mates (also applies SPC buff to all)
Combat Prayer to buff your mates dmg
Agressive Warhorn (ulti) to buff your mates dmg, I use meteor for 4 player content
Healing Springs as the main area HOT (gives you alot of time to cast something else, for example drain and siphon)
Radiant Destruction (I had to google jesus beam lol) as your main source of damage, grants minor sorcery to allies
Breath of Life for 'oh ***' situations when somebody runs away and goes yolo
Spear Shards / Mystic Orbs to either restore stamina or restore magicka to dps/tanks if they need it. I really like the shards because you get 50k aoe dps spamming these

hmmm.. have you ever thought about B/S and restro?

That is what I have but i'm not end game.

I've actually thought of s/b+dw when playing pvp with my group. My last question which I think I should have asked before If using destro is there one that's better than the others since they have diff effects with tri focus passive or is it just personal prefference.

I'm talking about back bar. Resto on front bar is a given. As a pvp player, I prefer 1H&S over DW, but for pve I can see dw back bar very feasible for a templar.

Best set for healing is still considered Spell Power Cure, which drops in White-Gold Tower.

Of course, if you don't feel like farming that horrid place, you're in luck. From there, you can heal in one of two routes: either power or sustain.

For a spell power based healer, you have really big numbers for healing, but you will lack magicka regen (especially as a Templar). For that, you would use the Julianos Set, which is craftable.

If you're going for more of a resource sustain route, you can easily use the Seducer set.


As the previous commenters have said, there are two setups: Resto-Dual Wield, and Resto-Destro. You might be wondering which is better. The answer is situational. The advantages can easily switch off. Because of this, you want to carry three types of weapons on you: a Restoration Staff, a Destruction Staff, and two swords. This way, you can easily switch up your build. For example, against some of the bosses in vICP, a Destruction Staff has an obvious advantage because they have zero shock resistance, and you get access to Crushing Shock. Of course, in some dungeons, you might prefer dual wield, so the best solution is to have it all ready.

In addition, you want to really run with a build that is really efficient in terms of slots. In other words, you shouldn't double slot Breath of Life, Just get used to switching back and forth on the fly.

Another thing you want to get used to is knowing the duration of your abilities. So if you run Purifying Light, get used to reapplying it every 6 seconds. After a while, you'll do it subconsiously. (Just don't try to do everything subconciously, because yesterday I left a group in the middle of a boss fight subconciously. It was not good).

You'll eventually learn to heal really well if you practice. Running the pledges daily is probably the best way to get better.


After you get down the basics of healing , then you want to start learning how to DPS while healing. Of course, you won't contribute as much as the normal DPSers, but it still helps a ton. Just practice, and you'll get it down. Running Maelstrom Arena helps with learning to DPS. As a Templar, you have it pretty easy when it comes to melee range DPS, basically spamming Puncturing Sweeps, weaving in light attacks (add in Reflective Light for bonus DPS). Make sure to still contribute when you can't get in melee range. If you're against Lord Warden Dusk or Molag Kena, melee range is a bit dangerous. A good DPS tool is Dark Flare in this case (or run Crushing Shock in Destro Staff.

I am DW/resto on my Templar healer. I tend to have on my DW bar more than my healing bar just because I am proficient in swapping for heals. If you lack resource management Destro/resto is a solid choice or want elemental weakness to help increase DPS for your team it is also valid. I used to be a destro/resto Templar but found I enjoy DW more than destro since I an weave medium attacks on my DW bar and gain back stamina if I need it

My DW bar I slot Structured entropy, a damage shield(generally the one from light armor) or if I don't need a shield(or before a boss fight) Magicka det and apply it to as many enemies I can in a group(for added DPS), radiant oppression(for heals if I need them while executing), luminous shards, and either puncturing sweep(if DPS is lacking) or necrotic orb so the tank or DPS can synergize to have added DPS.

My healing bar will have my BOL, healing ward for oh crap moments, Mutagen for some HOT heals, Rune focus for resource management(though I noticed needing it less and less), and either repentance healing springs combat prayer or some sort of purify skill depending on the situation.

So I chose DW so that I can PVP effectively as well as PVE heal/DPS. Though many have recommended if you decide to do both PVP and PVE make a setup for PVP and swap out resto with S&B and wear heavy armor instead of light. But then again my PVP skill setup is much different than PVE

When I am healing I usually go with five pieces of Seducer as my base set of armor. Shoulder and helm is usually a mixture of monster sets depending on the dungeon or task at hand. I do have a full set of Julianos I can switch to if I get into a situation where I need to provide more DPS. Most of the time though the Seducer set works best for me. If I get two members of the group in my Healing Springs I can rotate 3 healing springs, one shard then back to the healing springs and never get short on resources. With mobs I throw out repentance when appropriate instead of a shard. I can also work in a few shields or some DPS so long as I remember to drink my potions. I'm bad about forgetting my potions.

I do use duel wield most of the time on my back bar but unless I am jumping in to do some DPS it really doesn't provide any real benefit. Most of the time unless I get in with a PUG I don't need to do the DPS and can just concentrate on healing and providing resources as needed.

This is for PVE. When I PVP I try to get more shields and AOE skills slotted than I use when just doing dungeons.

I want to say repentance doesn't even work for some boss adds. In any case, you only get one use per body, and it pulls from all dead bodies at the same time. For this reason I don't usually slot it on my primary bar.

I have to disagree with driosketch. The only time I don't have repentance on my main bar is if another Templar in the group has it on theirs. Even then I sometimes keep it on just for the passives. Almost every encounter in the dungeon has at least one mob before the boss and many have mobs show up throughout the fight with the boss.

The passive alone, 10% increase to health, stamina and magicka recovery, is worth slotting it. Add to that replenishing health and stamina on you and those around you when you cast it and it comes in very handy. Even if there are no actual mobs during the boss fight it still works to make sure everybody goes in with as much resources as possible when you go from dragging down the mob to concentrating on the boss.

Repentance in one cast does what it would take a healing springs (if everybody is grouped) and three shards, or two blessings of life and three shards would do and might do it better.

The caveat here being I don't know driosketch's healing style, for him it might make good sense to leave it off. For my style of play it comes in useful quite often.
