PLS GIVE US THE OPTION TO TURN OFF OR REDUCE FOG!!

Yes we know the LOD and the detail level of distant terrain of this game are not good enough to make it look as intended without the fog, and without it the graphics might look immersion breaking at times. However, we have known for a looooong time (probably right after the original launch) that there are plenty of players who could accept the flaws that come with the removal or reduction of the fog, and think the game looks awesome with little or no fog. When there are so many players using third party graphics mods to remove the fog (running the risk of getting virus), I don't understand why ZOS still has not given PC players the option to reduce the fog. Removing the fog completely might be a bit extreme, but how about giving us the option to reduce the density of the fog 30%-50%???

Also, I hope ZOS could work faster to increase LOD and detail of things to really solve the whole view distance problem, because after the graphics overhaul of WOW Legion, a 12 year old mmo is gonna look better than ESO in a way!

Sorry for the typos, the third option should read "Don't care about the smoggy environment that feels like a heavily polluted industrial zone“ :D

I do think some more control over things like this would be a good thing. One can never have too many graphical controls. Having said that, given the low-quality distant textures and art style the devs have opted for, it will look quite bad in a lot of cases with fog completely removed. As a compromise I would be more in favor of an option for thinning the fog cover.

However, I do think that, even though it makes the world less picturesque than Skyrim or even Oblivion, the fog does give a good illusion of distance between your character and landmarks. Without the distance fog, nearby cities and buildings seem a lot closer and the world noticeably smaller.

Anyone know how to edit the options? I left the typo there... it should read "Don't care about the smoggy environment that feels like a heavily polluted industrial zone"...

Look how gorgeous it is w/o fog. Doubt my PC could handle it but I would buy a new set up if fog was removed.

Biased poll is biased ... therefore there's no way to count how many players actually care about this issue.

Fortunately, there are already PC add-ons for those that do care about the game fog.

But, I'm not seeing a large outcry from the player-base that the zones are "polluted" (shrug). If you see that differently, OP, please share the forum threads or other feedback ... and why it would take precedence over the other items on ZOS's plate.

Nope, I like the atmosphere it creates with lightning and depth of field.

It's difficult to comment without knowing the OP's system specs and game settings. Plus the poll is so biased as to be pointless. It's certainly not an issue that has ever concerned me, and once I upgraded my graphics card I whacked the viewing distance up anyway.

Zenimax has clearly said they could change and remove the fog:
They added: "In certain situations, the fog is intended to be heavy and thick to contribute to the mood and atmosphere of the region. Aldcroft in Glenumbra, for example, is a spooky and moody place - as are many areas of Tamriel. The fog distances do change based on weather and time of day, and yes, we are able to change them. "

Where's the option for "I don't know what you're talking about, what fog?".

Maybe I don't see it because I have high graphics settings but low particle effects?

No, the left ones have much more atmosphere. The right ones just look totally cluttered with no sense of perspective.

When I look at the images - especially the ones from Bangkorai on a bright day - then I must say that there really is too much fog imo, but without any fog it looks a little bit weird... So I would prefer something in between. ^^

There is really too much fog!!! Especially when you compare the game to 2007's TES 4!! The fact you can see further in a 9 years old game than in ESO is inexcusable.

I like the no fog option (I play on PC). However, you need to mind the same source code is applied to all platforms (PC and consoles). Thinking about consoles this is not an option due to limited hardware. Maybe they should write a conditional on their patches that if user is from PC allow the option to disable (or reduce) fog. Else, it will not be shown in settings.
