if its a dot then i demand to purge it with cleansing ritual and purge :/:s

it's an AoE-Dot, so just walk out of it's area like you do with caltrops, eruption, liquid lightnig and so on...

So wrecking blow is dot too if you stay on its range you get its damage every 1 sec :p I've been playing games for 20 years and dots sticks with target. If you avoid by moving away from it its not a dot.

have some common sense. wrecking blow has a cast time sure, but it does all its damage in one hit. its obviously direct damage. sweeps takes one second and does damage 5 seperate times; damage over time.
whats with this idiot notion that damage over time has to stick to you? so what caltrops doesnt do damage over time because its ground based.
jesus *** christ its not that hard to wrap your head around. things that do damage over time in this game are dots and if they do all the damage in one hit they are DD

edit, you do understand dot stands for damage over time.... and you argue that caltrops is not doing damage over time because you can walk out? lol what? but it literally does damage over time.

Im not expert on templar but i dont think jabs are DOT. Its four seperate hits. If your target out of range it wont register all of them maybe 1 or 2 but not all of them. But you can apply dots on target from range or meele and leave them and they will still suffer from its damage this is dot.

DOTs have duration and they stick to target

Jabs has cast time and it doesnt stick to target

it is a dot that procs valkyn skoria even ;)

Should I go farm gold so I can build a traditional setup like Hunding/Nightmother with Rapid strikes and steel nado?

Why in the world would you have to farm to craft a set?

If you have been playing more than a couple of weeks, you would pick up enough mats wandering around.

It costs gold to buy the materials to craft and upgrade items and for me I get other people to craft the set for me. Why did you even post besides to troll? I'm going to farm motifs and hopefully agility rings to get gold to buy alloy and the mats for cp160.

If you honestly think you can fully upgrade your gear just by walking around you're mistaken. It takes a ton of raw mats to get enough yellow upgrade mats for one item, which costs 8.

Stop trolling, there is a huge difference in having all gold gear and having all purple. The weapons obviously need to be gold but the set effects, trait and enchantments on armor must be all gold to hit over 30k stam, and over 70% crit. I'm specifically building my character, I'm not playing the game with no idea of what a dot is like you, I know what I'm actually doing.

No, the difference isn't that big. I usually tank and pvp with purple equip without any problems. And i've also tanked vMoL (2nd Boss) and vSO (Ozara). Ofcourse all Dungeons aswell.
Weapons should be golden for dps/heals, for everything else purple is enough at the beginning.

I find it quite ridiculous that Jabs/Sweeps counts as a DoT, since it's channeled and aimed at a short distance, rather than an actual ticking damage over time on the target.

Gold gear isn't that amazingly advanced when you compare the stats though :p for weapons, sure.

What do you mean in the begging? IF I want a set of TBS then I'm going to make it all gold so the divine trait, enchantment and set is all as powerful as possible. Why on earth would you even argue it's not necessary? If you're trying to test a end game build then yeah purple may be fine at first but if it's a good build and you know it will work then of course you're going to upgrade to gold.

I still can't comprehend why someone would make this argument aside from for the sake of trolling.

Then make it gold. but the differens in DPS (or anything else) isn't that big.
to take your example with TBS
7/7 purple and divines will give you 45.5% more for your mundusstone
7/7 gold divine will give you 52.5% on your mundusstone

    purple: 16% Crit + 17.46% critdmg
    gold: 16.775% Crit + 18.3% Critdmg

So you'd loose 0.8% Crit and 0.8% Critdmg

TBS usually will give you approx the following stats ~60% Crit and 1.9 crit dmg modifier.
The difference in dps would be: (1+0.608*0.908)/(1+0.6*0.9)=1.0078
So upgrading your gear to gold would give a ~1% more DPS (Setstats will also increase, but it's only a small increase in magicka so i won't calc it here)
Assuming you have 30k DPS with purple gear you would gain 300 DPS and will now have 30.3k DPS

    AWESOME!!!!!

You really HAVE to upgrade to gold asap!
