Can you add consumables to the new Lock function with gear?

I have 2 gold Xivkyn motif books that I picked up in my time in IC. I consider them trophies and wouldn't want to accidentally use them. It's a small qualm, but I had the idea that consumables could have the "Lock" option to prevent consuming them, selling them to vendors, trading them, or destroying them.
Thoughts?
