So are u using a weapon(s) that are melee. Like two 1 hand weapons, if so then it's going to scale off stamina. (That's my understanding at least)
    If it's a staff then it's magic.

    I'm magic based Templar using 2 1-handers
Then the spell will be based off the morph (magic/Stam) in accordance with your stat points.

    Right?

It should scale off the larger stat pool. DW adds as much spell damage as it adds weapon damage. Set bonus ans willpower rings will add much more to spell damage.

Major Brutality buff(Rally) is increasing its damage, even if my spell damage is still higher than my weapon damage after the buff. Major Sorcery(Entropy) has no effect on it.

I was about to test if this is just a tooltip problem, but the server just went down for maintenance.

Maybe your Weapon Damage buffed by Major Brutality is higher than your Spell Damage.

Hmm I don't read the patch notes that way.
Can you link and quote where it lists as such. I think this was assumed by some but I either missed it, or it's not written as such

Basically what I mean is this.
"Weapon damage" - doesn't equal stamina or magica. It means weapon damage so pre DB my weapon damage is greater than my spell damage when I have my healing staff (VR15 purple item with precise trait and Absorb magic enchantment.

When I swap to dual wield my spell damage is slightly (very slightly higher) and that with 100 CP PTS into elemental expert.

Now with the DB changes, you have to look at a few things but breaking down to basics.
    Really simple.

-If you want the spell damage benefit, then you'll need to make adjustments so that buffed, unbuffed and during weapon swaps that it's always higher and test.

Don't compare but test and see what is best.

I don't think this was confirmed as a problem.

Don't take my word for it, but because spell dmg and weapon dmg aren't stam or magica based it reads as working as intended. I think many of our assumptions are what need to change.

Again. this is not official just my understanding.

It should be a bug, because previously Burning Light did scale with spell damage.

"Deals Physical Damge and scales with Weapon Damage, or deals Magic Damage and scales with Spell Damage, based on whichever is higher."

That's the tooltip, but currently it's only scaling with Weapon Damage. @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

Yes it seems to be lower also nessecity skills have had a considerable cost increase , my self being ah imperial temp an never getting a passive revamp for red diamond this makes it less of a challenge an more of a varens wall once again .
May suggest red diamond be converted into more magik or Stam resource regen ...leaning towards magik cause I wouldn't like honestly after a couple years of running mates an guild friends liking those heals .

The thing is, its working as intended.
The observation is that one results in much higher damage than the other

Where I think everyone is calling it a bug is where somehow people are inserting "magica and stamina" but never was this a factor. Its just one or the other Spell Damage or Weapon damage (whichever is higher)

maybe it helps if we could see at the time of cast, which is higher and then see the actual dmg done on a static target in a controlled environment but honestly nothing seems to be off.

(I am fine to be proven wrong tho) cause I don't like that one does more dmg than the other.

Is anyone else puzzled that every time Zenimax responds to something they've "checked on" they always say its working properly, when everyone else on this planet says its not?

So did this OBVIOUS bug just get shrugged off? How did my tool tip go from 4.5k to 1.8k?

Has anyone confirmed whether or not this is a bug with Burning Light... I've read mixed answers on this. Some say it's just a tool tip problem, others say that Burning Light isn't properly scaling off the highest attribute.

Also, regarding the last comment... is Thaumaturge now correctly working with Sweeps on PC?!?

Has anyone at Zenimax commented on this issue yet? I had been playing my NB since DB came out but broke out the Magplar yesterday and was shocked the tooltip for Burning Light was less than half of what it used to be.
