I don't think this is a very good statistic though. It pretty much means millions of people have quit, because we all know there aren't 7 million active players in the game. I suppose they are great statistics for their marketing team who would've played a big part selling those copies. I have to wonder sometimes if they could of managed their spending a bit better though, 7 million accounts is like a few hundred million not including sub fee's or crown store, and yet the game has never been perfect. Sorry to be negative, ESO has a lot of great aspects which a lot of us have enjoyed and overall I think it was a good game but could of been so so so much better, especially with that much revenue.

And how about Minecraft ? The Sims ? Both multiplayer, both top selling, both 100% PVE.

That's false. I play minecraft to go into people's server and kill them. "Hunger Games" is also a very popular game mode on dedicated servers where it's 100% PvP.

Um...Minecraft is not 100% PvE. There are servers devoted exclusively to PvP in Minecraft and on the servers I played in, you could accidentally PvP someone :P

It's probably 7 mln registered since launch, who knows how many actually active.

The fact that they gave us the total accounts created since launch, and not active players is an indication to how many are actually active.

    PvP = endless replayability.

How many PvE players would be around if the only thing ever added to the game was a single zone that was just a neutered version of what was promised. PvP communities thrive in games that promote them, and for a long time. As said, those are the most popular games that have the most players as far as PC goes. Sadly for this game ZOS has basically done whatever it could do to force the PvP community out. It's not even about content as far as I'm concerned, it's all of the little things that have added up over time, and a few really massive blunders.

With all of the sales for the game dropping as low as $5 USD, i wonder after the initial launch of TU how much they have actually made from copies sold.

Just an observation but I rolled an alt last week and while at AD Kenarthi Roost I saw so many players that hell and love if you could throw a rock without hitting another player.

This continued as I leveled up the alt but to a lesser extent but just the fact that I could see so many players in the PvE zones
was surprising at this stage in the games life. Mostly new players or alts is anyone's guess.

    This in PC NA

If ZOS asked themselves, "Why won't people participate in PVP on ESO?"

The answer is not, "Everyone only wants to PVE and grind"

I would suppose something similar to the following points:
    1. Fear of inadequacy
    2. Lag
    3. Stats/items (built in imbalance)
    4. Locked racial passives
    5. Locked and disjoint classes
    6. Lack of counter-play (think mage vs rogue vanilla WoW)
    7. Lack of active counters (street fighter style real time counters for ex)
    8. Limited diversity
    9. 5 skills per bar (dumbing down)

Just to name a few reasons

Your last point (5 skills per bar) is one of the biggest sells for ESO PvP. It's not dumbing down, it's promoting build diversity, skilled play, etc Matter of perspective I suppose.

Agree completely, which is why I never understood the decision-making process at ZoS to focus exclusively on PvE content. PvP players just need a few small changes or additions every couple of months. They can use my map as a template!

guys the number is generated from sales trends. 50% of those that got the game played the first 30 days and left. Hell launch was like 1 million something.

So what ? The number isn't and never was meant to reflect current active players.
You don't have a clue how many people who got the game actually stayed and played and subbed.

If one side has the real info, it's ZOS - and I'm sure they have it. They don't need "sales trends", they have sales numbers. Do they sugarcoat numbers ? sure. Do they lie ? I don't think so.
