I think arenas and small scale stuff would definitely increase the skill levels of your average zergling.
The zerg just perpetuates the lack of needing skill to play, so if anything you should want to expose yourself to some more of the "high end" pvp and absorb some xp from duals, small scale, and maybe even participate in some tournaments.
there is a reason 1vsXers target zergs, run off dragging a few zerglings with them to cull. It's been going on for years lol... the reason is simple. Zerglings don't have complete builds, they usually have no sustain or self heals, and die within a few hits. Even better they usually ball up with their comrads making aoe's and VD+proxy super effective. It's really not that hard.

Not necessarily, it would make it so most of the stacking in one small area not possible which would limit or remove some of the aoe spamming. Because it would no longer be an effective way to fight group vs group. As one large group could not just push in on top of another and spam aoe. So why yes it creates more server side calculations in one form; it could reduce much the checking calculations the server preforms for every aoe that gets triggered and it's cascading effects.
No more mile gate balls, no more stacking raids on stairs, no more stacking raids in the corners of keeps, no more 80+ people stacked inside of the last emp keep, etc.0 -

Also it would look way more awesome ! I mean a room filled with people verses 40 people standing in the same 4x4 space is a lill messed up haha. but whatever. if people wanna stack like that we have *some* answers to that now. A large improvement from the days of OMG barrier after Barrier ball zergs walkings through everything. infact my best dps parse ever in pvp was from me attacking a ball zerged on top of a rock. hit 164k dps and killed them all. The skill involved in forming and crafting strategy for an army is one thing, but there don't seem to be too many people who can resist being a total *** that makes everyone want to avoid them and that's an important skill in an MMO that rarely gets addressed.
What the "I want arenas" lazy PvPers don't seem to understand is that the coordinated groups rely on the formless zergs showing up so they can farm them. You'd have to be able to get along with people long enough to get the social lay of the land to know that, though.
Really the main problem with this game is that you can't ostracize everyone who's intolerable because someone you like to play with hasn't realized they should have a zero tolerance policy for asshattery so you have to be diplomatic in your relations.

When I started playing I was in well formed TS required zergs that stealthed, barriered, and went in with all aoe's to annihilate said "formless zergs". it was just deeply unsatisfying and I didn't feel like I was improving my personal game play at all. as for the actual people leading the zergs... I hated them. the yelling the cussing, the screaming, the omfg thats bull**** fit throwing, the threats of kicking people from the guild because they weren't on crown... the whole toxic environment. then When they started using exploits openly in chat, Spying and putting people in other peoples factions, and streaming their movements, handing over ap ticks to 1 chosen person to become emp, cross faction siege repairing to exploit AP, I was done and moved on to a better community of pvpershttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrenlA9RsM0

Anyway it was just a "funny" thought I had because my daughter had a show going on in the background while I was being chased down by 25 ad. I was out there dueling and apparently they didn't agree with that concept. I Pondered what must be going on inside their TS.
was it like... OMG A BLUE BERRY lets Get him! Everyone! lets go! and for over a minute they all chased 1 guy who was dueling another player in the corner of arboretum... and then I wonder after they finally got me... did they celebrate... go OMG YES we're so GOOD! or what is it exactly that drives them. idk, it's a mystery to me... I can't understand the gaming satisfaction they get out of 24vs 1.
Look at it like this... If a fight breaks out at your school...1vs1, okay watch it...it's interesting. 3vs 5 ... interesting and rooting for the 3. Now if the entire football and wrestling team decided to go after 1 guy , chased him down and beat him ruthlessly and walked away laughing... You'd probably be disgusted. Further more if you where that guy... See what im saying here? I like interesting combat, interesting game play, skills tactics, that sorta thing. I like to feel like it takes
sort of work to fight people and small scale pvp.
