@Gidorick All those ideas are fully capable of being standalone games to the point they'd be wasted on lesser quality expansion packs, regardless of how inviting and exciting that would actually be. However since the Maormer already play a direct role in the game It would definitely fit to have a main quest line involving them.
I said this before in another similar thread, I would definitely try playing as a Lamia or a Tsaesci. I've kind of developed a thing for snake people it's kinda weird.

...unless it contradicts already designed Lore in a way that cannot be explained away with designing more lore...Nothing is lore-breaking in a game that designs its own lore...
We also know that this mentioned "Last Dwarf" has been busy looking for other dwemer ever since their disappearance, and will be busy looking for them by himself and by extension through a certain dunmer master mage friend of his, and yet by the time of TES:Morrowind, has not heard of any.We know, in fact, that there are surviving Dwemer (at least one), and Snow Elves (at least one)...
I tend to agree with that one... however, while the lore is sort of skimpy on this one, it -does- seem to suggest snake-like lower bodies; best I could find was from Mysterious Akavir, mentioning:I think since we have the Lamia, having another race that looks so similar would be confusing...
And more important, a piece from 2920, Morning Star describing a duel:The serpent-folk ate all the Men of Akavir a long time ago, but still kind of look like them. They are tall, beautiful (if frightening), covered in golden scales, and immortal.
See? "slithering between the legs" does indicate a snake-like form of mobility, as does a kick against the tail having such an effect...One combatant was the Potentate's son, Savirien-Chorak, a glistening ivory-yellow eel, gripping his katana and wakizashi with his thin, deceptively weak looking arms...
...
His swords seemed to be a part of him, a tail coming from his arms to match the one behind him.
...
...but the Prince whirled around quickly to block with his shield. His counter-strike met only air as his foe fell flat to the ground and slithered between his legs, tripping him.
...
When Savirien-Chorak was rearing back to begin another series of blinding attacks, the Prince kicked at his tail, sending him falling back momentarily.
Nothing is lore-breaking in a game that designs its own lore. As with any MMO- Zenimax will need to expand their classes and races to keep everyone's interest. While pushing out new content is great, people are going to get bored of the same ten races and same four classes. You can only mix and match so much over a couple of years before you've done it all.
As a few people have already pointed out- you can easily introduce new, playable races without breaking the lore. Look how easily Zenimax introduced the Maomer, the Kothringi, and Ayleid. We know, in fact, that there are surviving Dwemer (at least one), and Snow Elves (at least one).
I can see the Maomer being introduced as the lightning-resistant race (since Dunmer are fire, Nord are ice, Argonian/Bosmer are poison). Not to mention that we don't have any classes/races that take advantage of aggressive "ice" builds. (besides those pesky Altmer who get a slight increase to all elemental talents)
I happily welcome expansions of races and classes. It's an ever-expanding MMO. It would behoove Zenimax to offer diversity.

Maybe. We do not have all that much info after all... might easily be that the race itself is not entirely homogeneous in their appereance... might be there are two "castes", the more lamia-like and the more lizardman-like... the one being "nobles" and the other "common footsoldiers"... maybe even "pureblood" and "halfblood"...There COULD be a sort of... in-between an Akaviri race with a thick, sinewy tail could explain their movements, which would me much like a serpents... and the legs would allow them to wear armor like other characters .The slithering doesn't necessarily mean no legs. Lizards can seem to slither.
I agree on that one... but they also need to be different from the Argonians at that. Still, a snakelike lizardman appereance... I'd go for that.I would just prefer the Tsaesci be drastically different from the Lami.
Ah, but D&D is a different license.Ive always liked Duergars, they are really badass, unlike normal Dwarf.

I'm thinking they'll look sort of like...

As others have said... lore can explain away lore. We (sadly) saw it with the giant wooly caterpillar in Wrothgar and we could see it again.
I dunno about the other freaks like me, but I for one wouldn't have enough until we had all the races established as currently around in the lore as options! And that includes the four akaviri races, be it snakepeople or monkeymen...CokeVoAYCE wrote: »we already have argonians!! haven't you freaks had enough yet?!
Yes to dwarfs... impish human dwarfs, haughty elf dwarfs, cute khajiit dwarfs, sleek argonian dwarfs, perhaps even orc dwarfs (uless they kill them at birth for some silly mauloch rule or something)karakondzula wrote: »Yes to Dwarfs!
