Well, lets get this thread back on topic.....
It might be nice to have other genres in an MMO besides Fantasy Sword, Board and Stick games.
How well could the TESO game engine be applied for other genres (with the proper modifications for each individual genre, of course)?
What brought this question to mind for me was recently remembering the unfortunately cancelled (before it ever hit store shelves) MMO Lost Continents from around 2001-2002, to date the only MMO I'm aware of that was to be themed after the pulp adventure serials of the 1930's/1940's. In fact, the various articles about its development were where I first heard of the then-radical idea of what we now know as instancing.
The TESO game engine would seem to be a total natural if Lost Continents was to be made today. What do you all think, both for pulp adventure and for other genres as well?

Its a terrible engine - HERO engine really doesnt work well.

You're quite correct. The Hero Engine is substandard. Good thing this game doesn't use Hero Engine.

Q: Can your tech do anything that you think is important that gamers haven’t seen in any current MMOs?
A: We’re not talking about some of our advanced features yet, which will definitely distance ESO from the competition, especially some of the social features we’re building into our server.

I think it definitely distanced itself from any other mmo i've played by allowing these amazing social features called getting wrecked by cheat engine.

The neat thing about the eso engine, it can work well for many styles, not just sword&sorcery.
I could see a Scifi game on it too, from cyberpunk (Neuromancer MMORPG?) to postapocalyptic (Fallout Online, anyone?), or a steampunk themed one (League of Extraordonary Gentleman?)... if they added some flight sim part for spaceships, the basic system could also work for a spare operah style game (If it was Babylon-5 Online, I'd never stop playing...)
