No no I'd opened the chest but needed to destroy one item in my inventory to make room for the blue dagger I'd found. But the mangy moggy snuck in as I stood there and stole it from under my nose!!

It's ok. My outrage is for comedy purposes.

Hey, if you see an Advanced chest on your way back to town, you open it yes? I bet you end up with an inconveniently full inventory sometimes! And see above last comment.

There have been a few times where I have opened a chest and either already had full bags, or the chest filled up my bags before I emptied. I noticed a player one time approaching me as I was at the chest, and there was a Blue Set item in the chest. So, it was the quickest destroy something in inventory I had ever done. Luckily, I had sorted my bags by price earlier, so it was easy to find some thing to destroy.

Turns out the player approaching did not even try to snag the chest item.

And seriously it always gets me when I'm killing mobs near chest or node clearly for a purpose of getting those and can only see someone running in to nick it while I'm in combat. I mean c'mon that's soo low...

When I notice other players around with a full bag I used to just stay in the chest till they go away, now I have a Bag Watcher addon and destroy 0g items when it's close to less than 5 slots left, usually the crafting style stones.

i hate to say this, but you have to deal with people filching your chests, i mean i really hate to say it, but humanity on the whole are ***.

personally, i have done this a FEW times, however MOST times if i see someone fighting off a mob to get to a chest, i leave and look for the next one.

You know, ZOS should really look at having some loot keyed to kills.

That way someone couldnt steal loot from you because once you started dueling with that mudcrab, its assigned loot would be yours. They would have to help you kill the mudcrab to gain access to the loot.

There could still be free standing loot such as found in bags and crates and barrels and whatever we call those things with locks. Those would still be earned by getting to them and taking whats inside.

But this way, ZOS could help stop some of the nsme calling and player bashing. Once both types of loot were supported in game, wouldnt be reasonable to start name calling when someone got free standing loot while you got kill-locked loot.

Its not like sticking an arrow in a mudcrab suddenly calks dibs on every resource node within sight, right?

I remember in Wrothgar i went for a chest. Had gotten this chest many times. Troll paces nearby. You csn grab the chest all day, troll never stops you. One day showed up for chest. Some fella was fighting troll. I walked up to get chest, got it, chat box filled up with cussing. Seems other guy had decided since he was fighting troll he owned the chest and i guess everything in sight. Surprised he didnt want toll for me using his wayshrine.

This kinda thing could be avoided if ZOS just figured out how to tie loot to kills in some way.

Then there would be both very distinct types and no reason for confusion.

No reason to promulgate the mudcrab dibs on everything in sight nonsense.

Chests are open world and for everyone. It's unfortunate you allowed your bags to fill up but the khajiit did nothing wrong. He should not be expected to know what your doing.

When there was a glut of people looking for nirn in Craglorn I liked to run around and fight mobs. Was funny to watch two or three people run over hoping to steal the node while I fought. A few even cursed me for it.
