Fixes are good, but there is a time and place for them. Peak hour times, isnt it.

I always wonder why, in real life we don't take bad service, but when it comes to internet/games it is like, happy to get bad service - Shameful to see.

Big difference between cleaning and remodeling. When they are patching, they are remodeling. Pretty sure your clients would understand if you needed to remodel to your gym to make it better.

The dumbest part about group finder is when you already have a full group, you want to enter a random dungeon and you have to wait in queue for several minutes.
I mean, how long should it take for the "megaserver" to select one random dungeon?

I'd say you'd have to be pretty damn naive to compare "cleaning a gym" to a sizeable defect in a multi-million line code base. Not even remotely comparable.

I honestly think that since the group finder has been broken from Beta they should just remove it, full stop.

Asking in zone is faster and easier, the point of guilds is to group and do things, so I think group finder is extraneous and really a petty thing to be worried about in the big picture.

Edited to add: Also have the random daily be a questgiver just like the other Undaunted guys, and then you can share quests like in Wrothgar.

Pretty sure most normal people would just think "ah darn the gym is closed I will go back another time" and over here in the UK at least you do get charged a monthly fee to use a gym.

Also what you see as bad service I see as good service. To me bad service is not patching out major issues as fast as possible and good service is getting them fixed if they can.

Is it annoying the servers are offline, sure everyone will agree with that. Is it something to cry about every single darn time it happens, no. These things happen with everything in life, it sucks but you just accept it and do what you can.

I am super glad they are taking care of the group finder. Haven't been able to use it since DB.

I don't mind some downtime for bug fixes at all.

ETA: Everyone else seems to complain about the group finder, but it has worked perfectly for me up until recently. Not had any of the problems most people seem to, and I use it daily. Have had a couple bad groups, but nothing so bad that we couldn't finish the dungeon.

    Thanks for the reply though

I disagree. This was a huge pain the last couple nights for hundreds of players. You might be surprised how many people use the group finder to run pledges.

How does your analogy hold up if your gym is full of broken equipment and there's a sewage leak on the floor? Do you keep it open and expect them to stay in those conditions? if people complain, do you tell them that honoring business hours is more important than the quality of the business?

Or do you close it for the workers (who maybe only work business hours, like the Zeni data center and coding, and hardware support staff) to fix the broken pipes and equipment, and make it a better place for your clients? Which gives better customer service?

I get your view - I accessed it myself before replying. Problem is with your example it leads to a hazard. I have been playing ESo since Db with the usual lag/disconnects etc i always been having.

To continually stop this - albeit to improve the service, marginally at best - in peak times isn't a good business strategy by anyone's standards. A lot sub this game, all want improvement, as we are paying for it after all for the service to be maintained.

But where is the ESO asking? Trying for a better way or better schedule?. They do what they want, little notice to people who pay is obvious. Rather than another rant, should we all be asking, who sets the schedules?. Can there be a better time to do them?.

And why is this done during the day EU?

Daylight saving, all the Disco Senche needs to be charged during the day or they run out of power.

Totally agree. I use the group finder multiple times a night, for the pledges and randoms. I have been playing ESO a lot less since group finder has been broken. I just don't feel like looking for people in zone.

Errr, do we not pay monthly for ESO? I know I do.

Also I think it is not so much that there IS maintenance, but that it's the day after an already really long maintenance with no warning, in prime time, over the always has been bugged anyway group finder, with not enough notice to reschedule guild events etc.

I think the people who are commenting to complain are people who have events scheduled this evening to avoid crossing with maintenance and now that 12+ people have their time/real lives/work scheduled to be free Tuesday evening at X o'clock for guild events, it is hard to reschedule everyone any time with short notice like this and due to last Tuesday's Night's emergency patch, it's 2 weeks in a row that folks who have scheduled things have had to cancel. Many of us get all stuff done in advance and schedule things so we can get 1-2 definite guild raids in per week.

I think the people who are not bothered perhaps are the types of players who don't organise to run group events, and if, maybe not on specific days and have had that day cancelled 2x in a row. :-)

A little understanding toward both POVs would be good.

I'm not going to complaint but this is sort of eye opening to me. I didn't know that many players used the group finder function. I always see group request in zone chat and people wanting experienced players only, so is the group finder more like a pug group or do you have options to look for experienced players?

    Guess up to year end

imo next year your example of cleaning the gym is valid

I would rather they just came back with a link to the ToS or EULA which ever one has the part about how the servers being up isn't guaranteed.

Oh it's Sunny? Worldwide? Good to know.

IDK where you live but it's not Sunny here and even if it were that's not germane to the point.

Some people do schedule game time because of Real Life and it being sunny, jobs, and so on.

This is the one day a week I don't have to get my kids from school and make dinner for 5 and clean up the mess and all that and this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks I've had my one day a week set game plans cancelled.

So I get that to you this is like whatever it's sunny, but for me (who doesn't ever even use the group finder) and other people who work and have kids and families and things to get done, it is a bummer.

There is a difference between problems keeping servers up and maintenance though. Also once they start something like this they will set a precedent and everyone will be demanding it for every patch.

Only time I have seen ZOS do this early access and when they broke the installer and people who paid for game time couldn't actually install the game.
