I'll create some history for RP players:
The indicator is actually an Alteration spell you cast to help block against spell+ physical damage. Runic in nature, and placed in all shields as part of ancient shield making procedures dating back to the Ayleids in the First Era. The idea was to change the physical properties around the shield so that any projectiles would simply be deflected (think of light being reflected off white colored materials). Modern shield making combined this ancient technique with the physical nature of the shield itself.
Thus you have the ghostly yellow deflection spell; flawless in its intricacies but Ayleid in its arroganance in having to appear everytime you hold the shield up. Unfortunately it will be some time before the Alteration mages at the mage guild in Chedynhal will perfect this spell to not be seen to the naked eye.
I actually like the skill changes!!!!deepseamk20b14_ESO wrote: »The block indicator is pretty odd and I think its not necessary. I don't think removing VR levels was a PvP thing though. I didn't even notice the bow heavy attack indicator, that seems odd as well. Really the only major PvP change was adding capture the flag in IC. Other than that there are no other cyrodiil changes that I would consider major. I can see where you're coming from about skill changes but you just have to adapt as far as PvE is concerned. I think it makes it a bit more interesting anyways since you have to change how you play ever so slightly. Keeps things from going stale. Tweaks to skills and such are inevitable because it's part of the balancing process. Imagine it the other way around and skills in PvP would be imbalanced pretty badly if they weren't constantly tested and tweaked. The one thing that I can see being a pain in the bottom for you is having to change gear to help maximize how your skills are setup after they have been altered. time and gold for sure. But try to look on the bright side, it gives you more reason to play and get different gear and try different builds. Happy hunting.

I wish...
ZoS focusing on PvP?
Also, the bow heavy attack indicator has been there before DB.

Ya'll need to stop crying. Ya'll are both getting attention.

How did it dissapear after the second era?
Why does it appear when you block with... Anything?
I hope chedynhal alias ZOS hurry the hell up and make it invisible to the naked eye...
Thanks for the story tho... I'll still cringe everytime I block, and it will still break my immersion... But not so badly.
So... @ZOS_JessicaFolsom why the sepulchral silence of zenimax? It's not like this is the first time we players have complained about the indicators.
All of the changes you list are done due to the removal of soft caps and introduction of the Champion System, which has negatively affected PvE as much as PvP.Lava_Croft wrote: »OP suggests ZOS focuses on PvP.

Um... ZOS did a lot of changes that were overall more PVP-oriented than PVE-oriented, in terms of class tweaks and overall game mechanics.
For example, the whole thing about regenerating stamina whilst blocking. I've never once heard a PVE'er complain about that, while I heard complaints about that numerous times in PVP. And what do you know, they applied the change. Even though one of the developers claimed that it was because of PVE that this change was made, even though not a single PVE'er made a complaint about tanks blocking. And the complaints all coming from a PVP perspective.
Want another example? The current situation with Sorcerer shields/wards. No PVE'ers complained about shield stacking, but was it complained about in PVP? Constantly. And what do you have now? Shields across the board at 6 seconds. Lol. Which keep in mind hurts PVE Sorcerers far more than PVP Sorcerers, although PVP Sorcerers certainly feel the heat even more from it.
And speaking of Sorcerer-based changes that were made due to PVP, and effected it from a PVE point-of-view, there is Bolt Escape (and it's morphs). Each time you use it, the cost goes up if used back-to-back. Last I checked, no one who PVE'd complained of teleporting Sorcs. But was there constantly complaints about it in PVP? Yes. Always. And thus you have the current situation with Sorcerers' teleporting. Lol.
So overall, I think it's fair to say that the majority of the changes made game mechanic-wise and class-wise are PVP-oriented. There are tons more of examples I could give, but I think you all get the picture. A lot of the changes these developers are making to the game, are to please the PVP crowd. While at the same, they are hurting the PVE crowd (9x out of 10).
