Bloodspawn only has like 1,5 mil hp... XD Its ok to compare dps with different sets and stuff like this, but if you needed proc rates or rotation practice, its not enough.
Use dummy weapons / go naked if you want to test rotations and not actual dps. ;3

The only logical reason Zos does not a good source of comparable and reliable parsing is to prevent discoveries of problems and imbalance in the game.

Parsing and test dummies are common in many games from the games Zos considers peers like WoW and SWToR and 2nd tier game such as Neverwinter. SWToR even has multiple training dummies for PvP and PvE and has added debuffs that mimic the health of a raid boss as well as the armor debuff a tank would apply to the boss. This is useful for players at all levels.

Two years in and nothing formal set into this game to accomplish such a basic staple for players. There is no excuse.

Why you guys going after a dungeon boss to DPS test?
Can't you just get a friend and fight a guard?

Theres no point in arguing with those that are against it.

If you are against it, you didnt use it. And would have no use for it. Plain and Simple.

Those of us that actually cherished it and utilized it, I GUARANTEE are much better players BECAUSE of it. And I know for me, and anyone else I've theorycrafted with or had someone want help with their build, I'd direct them to Ninglenel. Why? Because that bosmer cared. That bosmer wanted you to be better. He took beatings for all of those that tried, in order to help better us.

He is the bravest NPC I know, and all of you against him should be ashamed. Eat Eat the dog now has no home and has to roam Rivenspire alone. You can sometimes find him in out in the overworld, roaming all sad and lonely now because of this change! How could some of you be FOR this?!! You are animals I tell you!!

    #SaveNinglenel

Also, just wanted to add.. For those that think getting a friend to help is easy: I am in 2 ACTIVE PvE guilds that always have lots of members on, I have many friends that help me as well. But guess what? They dont play 24/7 just to be my dungeon slave. They have other things they are doing when they are on. There can be over 80 people on, and I get no response asking for help with a dps test on bloodspawn. So tell me: How on earth can I FORCE someone to come satisfy MY playing needs?

Also: The guard theory is all well and good, but they one-shot you eventually. Even a tank with capped resistances, most possible mitigation. They still slap you with a 50k focused strike to the heart. I HAVE noticed at some places you can place them where they wont hit you, but you can still hit them, which is indeed a possibility that doesnt require a tank, but from my testing 1) Half of the abilities wont hit the target because of the angle/elevation needed to keep them in combat yet not on the same y-axis to hit you, and 2) its such a high risk/ no reward and poor testing. Not even worth mentioning really.

    Please ZoS, just #SaveNinglenel

Those defending the NPC removal or offering ill-conceived substitutes don't understand the use of practice dummies in MMO's. DPS meters we already have. Every other major MMO has them, and they provides useful tool for serious sports-gamers. With ESO's admittedly excellent policy toward AddOn's, the removal of the sole practice dummy in game is defies reason. Even if the NPC's presence was unintentional, deliberate removal is a capricious and poor business practice.

The major business journals have cranked out numerous articles the past couple years detailing how MMO companies have been pushing focus toward increased PvP and eSport activity, citing increased profits and consumer interest. Giant sports events like the arena LoL and DotA competions, have seen company bottom-lines rise like never before. Even without eSporting per se, eSport enthusiasts are wisely supported by those providers who expect to survive the next 5+years.

I hope ZOS is evaluating the situation and has plans to revist or provide superior alternatives for their eSporting members. I would hasten to add that it's likely that the majority of serious end-gamers are also a healthy chunk of the monthly subscribers.

Here is what I expect... that when player housing is released, players will be able to BUY a 'test dummy' from the Crown Store. Having a 'free' NPC in the game wouldn't earn them any money and removing it at the same time they added 'pay' test dummies would have caused even more outrage. So I think they are removing it now so they can add 'paid' test dummies later.

So a new DLC hits, access to new amor, skills changed a chance to retest at Ninglenel.
    But Ninglenel is gone.
    Why ZOS?

Lets say there are plans for dps test dummys next DLC and they going to sell them for crowns. Well please consider
I would like the option of testing with full buffs like spell power cure, ele drain, combat prayer and war horn and
some times I want to test with out. I hope you think about that before you start selling them on the crown store.
I will buy if I have access to those options as long as its priced in well.

But for now what are we meant to do? Ask 2 others to go clear mobs to test in bloodspawn? That will get old real quick.
Plus its only 1.5 mill health so thats 1 minute max for any max level player. Players want a choice how long they test for and
Ninglenel was great for that. Most are testing to get there sustained dps up to over 30k for over 5min for Vet MAW bosses so help us enjoy the content more bring back Ninglenel!

Keep your players happy and let us have Ninglenel back at least till you bring in dps test dummys.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

Would you consider this fair? Or would you be able to introduce a dps dummy come the patch next week?

    Sigh.

A dps test is used to test sustained dps. Not dps/defence over a short period.

Any world boss is gonna melt... except orsinium ones that will melt you if you arent in a specific solo build.

How complicated is it for zos this far in since launch to place a couple of target dummies somewhere like the harborage or create a similar instance to allow people to test thier dps?

It doesnt have to be everyones cup of tea... but a lot of people have been asking for this for a long time.

I would LOVE to hear an actual explanation from zos as to why they have not implemented this. It really is not that complicated. Like... explain how long u would estimate it would take your coders to produce and what else you are doing productively with that small amount of time.

My guess is they want to make it a paid only feature. But in that case why wouldnt you implement it now?

MONEY!!!! How many times do people gotta say it? The crown shop is what makes money! There will be dummies in the crown store.

I think its just strange they haven't said any thing to us about what they intend on doing? All it would take is
for them to jump in this thread and say we are currently working on DPS dummies and that we are really close to finishing them and they should be ready next week for example.

Sign me up I be happy to pay but I have close to 130 players in my PVE guild that are yet to do a DPS check. It helps them work on their rotation before going into bloodspawn and doing there dps check. If they have to learn their rotation while doing a bloodspawn test I will spend most of my time in game doing DPS checks rather than doing more fun stuff.

Again I will ask that some one please give us a update on what you are doing about dps dummies or bringing back Ninglenel ?

Their silence and the fact ZOS has not implemented this very popular and very requested feature leaves only one explanation. They don't want the players being able to test their abilities, they don't want us figuring out how each ability scale, if they are being properly affected by passives and CPs, etc... Guess why? Probably because the game has even more bugs than we think...

Let's try to make this discussion productive. Is anyone aware of a decent alternative for practicing/testing rotations and builds? So far, all I'm seeing is guards, Bloodspawn, and WBs, none of which are great alternatives. Anyone have a better idea? There has to be a mob somewhere that is tanky as hell but hits like a wet noodle. Something in Craglorn, maybe? I dunno...

There are no good alternatives left and if we find one, it will probably be nerfed somehow. To run extensive tests you need the help of a tank willing to hold a strong boss from you while you run your tests and practice your rotations and it is sad...

I just found out about Ninglenel about a month ago and he was super super useful. Please bring him back, ZOS.

Even if this is part of a larger plan to introduce player housing and DPS dummies, it should not be removed when no alternative currently exists. If they do not wish to address the concerns of the community, the very least they could do would be to provide us with some reasoning behind this move.

It's a bug. Bug got fixed. The fact that you used the bug for certain things doesn't make it any less sane to fix the bug.

They didn't fix a bug. They removed an NPC. People were using it to get information to better themselves. It was harming noone.

If ZOS didn't want players to get that information they would lock down the APIs used for damage meters. As it stands, people will find an alternative, but they'll have to jump through hoops to find one, or go back to nagging friends to tank a group dungeon boss for them again.

So ZOS have just inconvenienced some people to benefit nobody at all. If you ask me, that shows they have seriously misplaced priorities.
It was a bugged NPC. Just because it happened to be a useful bug to some doesn't make it any less of a bug. You'll just have to wait for the moment you can buy dummies from the Crown Store or something.

Not every bug is a bad one.

The -only- alternative that we've found so far was to take our DPS, a tank, and heals into normal Maw and allow the DPS to beat on the first boss to get their parses. Far from ideal, takes some coordination, but it worked well for us. Plus there's that sweet sweet bonus of getting 5g from killing all of the mobs before the first boss! :D

Seriously? Not one single comment about this? Oh but wait if they hear that somebody can't complete white gold tower they'll go "fix" it so that they can. This is dumb man all these sets out now and we have to just wing it in dungeons and be like ah ok I guess this is right. I agree with one poster tho I don't think they want us to find out all the bugs in this game yeah they have a pts but as you can see they don't really care about what we say about things. This npc was harmless 100%. Plp who are against it or didn't know about it more than likely didn't really care much about tear dps or didn't join a hard core raiding guild cause more than likely they showed you the dummy to tighten up your rotation

If that was the case they'd simply have replaced the NPC model with the model they already have for a *** target dummy. They didn't and they won't give us target dummies because they don't want players figuring out how their skills work or don't work.

The tinfoil hat loonies are properly represented in this thread, geez. It's a bug that got fixed and there's a good chance target dummies will be available once player housing arrives. It's not like this bugged NPC was the only place where you could test your rotations and DPS anyway.
