As an "altaholic", the respec costs after every update are killing me. Free respecs after such drastic changes seem like a no-brainer to me.JustanImage wrote: »In the german forum it has been said, that there will be a cost reduction for respeccing for a short period of time.

Yeah, the current prices on PTS are really low. between 100-200 gold for a skill respec I think?

Which, as one of those (((insert insult of choice from the above posts))) who posted AGAINST an auto-respec last time it happened, is what should be happening. This way, those who dont take preparations can still login, review their current characters and then respec them at their own leisure.
More to the point, speaking as only a lazy whiner of course just look above, I will be able to take the current character even with changed morphs in some case, out for a spin. i can see how severely the new costs hit my damage build and its ability to sustain, how tough the new purage and shield changes impact my play etc. THEN after an hour or so of play, maybe more, maybe less i can do a more educated and informed respec.
But again, there aren't really any real thoughtful reasons for not having the previous auto-respec repeated so it must be people being "lazy" as @NovaShadow said above or "confused people who thought they had optimal builds but didn't understand the mechanics behind them" as @Stalkerealm said above or being an "altholic" as @Tyrxus said above.
personally tho, apparently as a lazy, confused altholic, I love the idea of having a chance to try out the many changes before the one "auto-immediate-respec" that happened like it did a while back. having actual play-at-hand experience with the new system and even having opportunities to maybe do multiple cheap respecs over say a week of play... hey, makes me glad i did cry out so much as a lazy confused, altholic and that they stopped the auto-at-login-reset.
Thanks to @NovaShadow, @Stalkerealm and @Tryxus for their points though.

Also, you can experiment with a forced free respec too, ya know. Rebuild your chars the way you like and then pay gold if you don't like it. So experimentation isn't really a valid argument here.
The main issues here are:
- Respecs costs too much gold
- Should it be forced or not
Personally, I don't want to be forced to change my 4 chars 4 times every year with the big updates, but I also don't wanna spend 60k+ on them. If what Faulgor says is true, that there's a discount at the Shrine of Stendarr, then that's exactly what should happen
Also, the proper term is "altoholic" for ppl who have so many chars (I noticed I misspelled it)
It won't, cuz altholic ppl complained about being forced to respec all 8 of their chars

WTH?
Experimentation isn't a valid argument here?
because in the auto-respec you could redo all your skills blind, play a while, then pay full respec sosts to apply your learning and get a character redone with informed decisions?
As opposed to paying nothing, playing a bit, then respecing for vastly reduced price?
Not even a valid argument as far as you are concerned about the relative merits of the two options?
That says a lot right there, a whole lot.
Thanks for letting us see some of your reasoning.

Forced Respec:
1. Redo all my skills and optionally change a few here to try it out
2. Experiment
3. Don't like it: pay for respec and grab the other morphs
No Respec:
1. Play with the current skills, even if they have been overhauled (like Stam Morphs)
2. Experiment
3. Don't like it: pay for respec and grab the other morphs
Outcome and costs are the same, so yeah. Not valid
But whatever the case, the costs of respecs should be reduced significantly after a major update. Cuz I don't wanna pay another 60k+ gold on my chars (and ppl with 8 chars def don't want that)
It won't, cuz altholic ppl complained about being forced to respec all 8 of their chars

We will just have to agree to disagree. i much prefer the upcoming db model of no auto-respec and reduced shrine costs to the previous auto-respec and make blind choices they used for the last forced respec.
While we can disagree, with each other and even others, I still dont see the need to insult the folks who disagree with me on this or to liken them to people with serious diseases.
but, hey, that's me.
YMMV.
hope your post-patch respec experience goes well for you and insult free.
