I've been playing MMORPG's since they first started, as it says in my sig. Needless to say, I've been playing in MMO's since before the FPS kiddos ever whined about getting some sort of PvP introduced into the genre. I've also been a steadfast, vocal opponent to any type of PvP in MMORPG's. IMO, PvP goes completely against the grain of what an MMO is at it's very core.
I also know that the largest (best guess-timate is 80+%) population of players in any MMO is found in the PvE side of the games, and that can be found industry-wide. PvP could evaporate from every MMO tomorrow, and most every MMO on the market right now would keep plugging along just fine.
If people want the Massively Multiplayer aspects but mixed with FPS PvP, then MOBA's are probably a better fit for those players rather than an MMORPG. Those games are designed with PvP at their core, and those FPS players can leave the MMO genre in peace.
PvP has zero place in any MMORPG.
You sound like an old man that can't handle the fact that things evolve and change over time.
Things don't always change for the best my son
Does not matter, they still change. My point stands.
And regarding good or bad: That is subjective.
Buy my point still stands as well.
PvP goes against the very core nature of what an MMORPG is. A massive, majority focus on PvE. Quest depth, variety of content, and allowing for immersive Role Playing byt the design of the world. PvP has no place in that, and adding PvP into the MMORPG genre was a mistake that developers are only now beginning to correct.
And they're correcting it by focusing more and more on the PvE aspects; and less and less on the PvP.
They're letting FPS's and MOBA's have the PvP niche. MMORPG's are slowly transitioning back to PvE-only experiences, and that transition cannot complete itself soon enough IMO.

I have played PvP, it's laggy, filled with nightblades, and basically zerg or gtfo.Ourorboros wrote: »If you voted PVE, have you ever spent much time in PVP? And I don't mean running around by yourself, waiting to get tagged by everybody else traveling in two's or more. If this poll was back in December, I would have voted PVE. In January I started running with a PVP guild, and now most of my game time is in Cyrodiil. PVE is fun, but if I only had one, hands down it's PVP.
Pvp 'ers spoil Pve with their constant out cry of wanting all classes to be equal only theirs more so...
This.I do not play role playing games for PvP. If I wanted serious PvP I would be playing MOBAs or FPS games.
I hate PvP in RPGs. Our skills and abilities always gets nerfed and messed with because of PvP balance. I wouldn't mind PvP if they could separate abilities from PvE/PvP but that's not going to happen so I have to continue to be annoyed that PvP is in this game to stay.
And this.PVE - This is an Elder Scrolls Game. ES is known for it's amazing story telling through voice acting, dramatic plots, and their mix of seriousness and humor. The quests help me relax after a long day of stress and annoyance.
1) I care nothing for baby seals. Club away, indigenous northern peoples. Club away. Club like cave men even...Please don't say "If you want PvP play MOBAs or FPS", every time you say that, a baby seal is beaten to death. Think of the baby seals.
