@CasNation At least before, I had a reason to keep them for myself. When I'd level a new character, I'd make her vet 1, vet 5, vet 10, and vet 14 gear. I loved experimenting with the unique styles, since it was low stakes. Next patch, I'll never need those mats, like many others. I'm wondering if that will make those mats rare and hard to find on the market (since there will be lower demand) or there will be more on the market (because higher supply as a result of surplus).

Get a crafting mule.Yesterday, I was looking through my bank at all the crafting items I had gathered through the last 8 months of playing this game. I had all sorts of potency runes and materiels of each weight in every level tier. They took up a lot of space, and I was thinking about what was essential and non-essential to make room for the new reagents and solvents releasing with the new (not desired) poison system. That's when I had an epiphany. How long in one's ESO life will they actually use vet 1-vet 14 mats? The removal of the veteran ranks is going to have a huge market effect on these items. Most people will already have enough champion points to immediately craft and wear vet15 and vet16 armor. For those few new players who are starting out from scratch in champion points won't take very long to get to 150 or 160. I decided to purge all those useless mats. I won't need them for my alts anymore. People won't need them for themselves, with rare exeptions. RIP crafting as we know it. Only thing I can see them being useful for is leveling up crafting, but most people just decon stuff to level 50, with the exception of provisioning and alchemy.
I hope they find something useful to do with old mats when player housing arrives.

Yep. Welcome to the economy. I honestly don't really have a problem with it. I think the way it is happening is kind of ham-fisted, but it's not like you used v1-v8 mats anyways. The exception is if you target people with new Vr1 character who need new vr1 gear. That market is going to all but disappear.
