Official Feedback Thread for DB Itemization & Item Sets

Varen's Legacy - This set is interesting. Apparently the 5 piece bonus can be used for Duration aoe attacks or direct damage which is neat. I could have hurricane ramping up while proccing extra 3k damage hits. The damage only buffs one instance of damage however. The whole point of AOEs are to hit multiple targets so why is the damage bonus locked to one target?

The proc rate itself is abysmal. The set doesn't really start proccing until 4+ targets are hitting you. DOTs also don't seem to proc the set bonus. Low proc rate, that requires direct damage attacks, and blocking plays out terribly. Interaction with blocking trigger sets feels bad in general. Varen's Legacy reminds me of the Twin sister set. It has a great bleed, but locks you into blocking on a 20% proc chance to access it. It's just not fun or functional.

A bigger damage blast, with a 100% chance on block, and a functional cooldown (3-5 seconds) would feel a lot better. Power bash feels much better the way it was designed to buff on blocking. I think block trigger sets could benefit from following suit.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno
Just wondering if anyone on the item team has seen this feedback, as I too was excited to try the Varen'sLegacy Set but barely got it to proc and found it seems to only affect one target with the higher damage in AOE attacks. At only a 10% proc rate with the requisite condition of after blocking, it seems to weak for being a 7-trait set.

I'd chime in with ExiledTyrant and add that I think the % proc rate needs to be done away with entirely (and just activate after block like the revised Power Slam). I'd also say the added damage should apply to all 6 targets affected by an AOE. To keep this from being unbalanced you could establish a 4-second cooldown.

I totally agree that one of proc chance should be increased or a cooldown should be implemented. The concept of the set is really cool and I'd love to have a reason to use it.

This is feedback for the re-scaled PvP sets that went live as of patch 2.4.4. I opened enough boxes to get a piece of each 5 piece set from Defensive Heavy Armor, Offensive Heavy armor, Defensive Medium Armor, and Offensive Medium Armor. As far as I can see all sets were simply scaled up to CP 160 level without any change to their set bonuses. The 5 piece bonuses for a majority of these sets are still obsolete or undesirable. In the chance that a final balance pass is being made I would like to highlight some sets I care about.

    Heavy Armor:

Durok's Bane - Why does this 5 piece still exist when we have Fasala's Guile. 20% chance on damage taken to reduce healing has been made obsolete. This set needs a new 5 piece to compete.

Crest of Cyrodil - Just like Durok's Bane why does this 5 piece bonus exist? 5 seconds of healing reduction with a 15 second cooldown is not useful when Fasala's Guile is now available. Even if Guile wasn't in rotation this 5 piece wouldn't be useful because it has a small window of power on an armor set not meant to supply burst damage in small windows of time.

Affliction - The base damage is to low considering the precedent viper's sting and the newly buffed enchants now set. Affliction and flat damage sets in general need to be applying more flat damage to compete with weapon damage sets. The 50% chance should also just be 100%. The set already has a cooldown and anyone who is light weaving is hitting enough times a second to ensure almost 100% up time anyway.

Sergeant's Mail - Who is this set for? After the molten armaments change I don't think DKs use heavy attack builds anymore. Stamina sorcerer don't have much heavy attack support either. This set doesn't really seem to fit.

Juggernaut- The heal cooldown is to long. It's about 1 / 3 the health of an offensive heavy armor users and much less for a fully defensive heavy armor user. Lowering the cooldown to around 30 seconds wouldn't push this set over the edge considering the stats you give up for it.

    Medium Armor:

Vengeance Leech: This set recover around 1400 resource (health, stam, magicka ) on kill. Far to weak for a set bonus. Would be barely useful farming trash let alone trying to use it in PvP.

Twin Sisters: A good bleed tied to a poor activation trigger. The bleed is already locked to melee range why does it have to be tied to a % block trigger? The set bonus feels bad to play with. Block triggers in general feel bad to play with. Please consider giving block trigger sets like Twin sister's the power slam treatment. Have it proc the effect on block and then go on cooldown.

For reference screenshots have been provided below of each set bonus discussed.

How many traits are each of these crafted sets from DB?

Change twin sisterto heavy and it's5 piece makes sense aagain. No need tomess wwith theproc.

I tthink sergeants mail is for Krotha.

Vengeance leech is op. It'sfine as is.

If duroks stacks with ffasallasit sshould notexist. I Personally feel heal cuts should cap at 50 percent anyway.

I agree with therest. HHoweverI feel that if they plan on oopeningthese sets to all slots and traits they sshouldcconsider that while rebalancing. Some of those sets are only weak becauseof their bad traits and slots.

Just did another test on Pelinals and Varen's Legacy on late-night/no sleep. My testing partner and I can confirm that for Varen's Legacy, the proc rate is really low. In multiple fights in the Wayrest Sewers, against mobs of 12+, the bonus AOE damage proc'd only three times. Each time it proc'd, it would only add bonus damage against a single target. It'd be nice to know if this is a bug or if it is indeed working as intended.

I'll let my testing partner post his own observations in the morning, but for now I just want to say that our initial consensus was that it'd be a worthwhile 7-trait set if it worked like Power Slam, and if the AOE bonus damage would work as written, with my partner saying he'd even be willing to wear it with a 10-second cooldown if it could be reworked to work as (seemingly) intended.

Pelinal's seems to be working on the dot, and could be of great use for sap-tanking and provides some noticeable boosts for magicka DK powers. Not sure if it's enough of a bandage for the perceived reduction of Magicka DK's in general, but I do think there is great potential on the set itself. I wish I had more time to push the envelope a bit more on potential application.

As the for-mentioned testing partner in this discussion during the test i stood and was attacked while using block and instant casting sap essence on my nightblade test character, we did multiple tests to see if we could get it working right and while using the FTC addon we confirmed it worked but at a low rate and only on 1 skeever in the group, the average from the attack went from 2,953 with a high hit of 5,936 but it happened only on so rare of occasion that the set as it stands now is not worth it for the build as it does not actually increase damage all that much

    - Just my two cents

I'm not that interested in the new set bonuses, but the styles. Does anybody know where/how to get these sets? I think the only ones I've seen are the heavy Order of the Hour and one of the Dark Brotherhood styles ...
