Vicecanon Set - Supposed to Proc from Cloak or Not?

Your Critical Hits from Crouch inject a leeching poison that deals 17888 Poison Damage over 15 seconds and heals you for the damage done.

Currently on PTS, this set procs from attacks from Shadowy Disguise as well (I didn't test the Dark Cloak morph).

Is this intended behaviour? If so, maybe the tooltip should be updated to "from Stealth", rather than "from Crouch".

Just in case, I tested hitting NPCs from crouch (without being in stealth though) - it did not proc the effect.

Also, I did not manage to get this set to proc with Steel Tornado from Shadowy Disguise, where as it worked with Power Extraction (it only applied the effect to one target though). Is this a bug?

Also, I must say I really like how it works in PTS at the moment - so if it isn't intentional that it works with Cloak, you should consider making it so :p

Does it proc from other ranged aoe skills like bombard or volley?

It procced from Poison Injection, I didn't test other ranged skills.

Would be amusing if it procced from steel tornado, caltrops, etc.

It procs from Bombard, but only one target. From my observations, any multi-target attack from stealth will proc it on one target only. If you cast Bombard from stealth on live, it will only sneak attack one person and the rest are hit as a normal Bombard attack. Weapon enchants work similarly - you have a disease enchant on a firestaff and cast Pulsar, and it will only affect one person out of everyone you hit.

    For more details, check here.

But for what written in 2.4.3 patch notes "Fixed an issue where this item set’s proc was firing off abilities that didn’t deal any damage", several other things have changed:
    • it scales now correctly off armor penetration and weapon crit
    • it doesn't work anymore on multiple targets using single target attacks
    • some AoE skills apply it to one target, some others not; just Clouding Swarm applies it to every target (just the damage, not the healing - previously Clouding Swarm was not applying it at all even using invisibility right before)
    • the mechanic to apply it has changed from all attacks to critical hits
    This was the previous screenshot:
    Vicecannon-of-Venom-Set.png

It still works from invisibility (potion, cloak, Clouding Swarm).
If not intended and so changed just to crouch, damage should really increase by a lot, otherwise it would be useless.

That's interesting - I thought there was something new about the tooltip.

If this set is only supposed to apply from sneak (and not from cloak) then that is a shame - it currently promotes a stealth oriented playstyle that is not focused on instagib ganking from sneak and helps NBs a little with their biggest problem area, surviving incoming damage.

If it keeps working from cloak and invisibility ok, if just from crouch it's not so good.
I hope and presume it's intended.

Consider that in PvP it was reduced by Battle Spirit.
I still have to check if it is the same in the latest PTS build.

If you are up for some tests in Cyrodiil, write me by PM, or if you test it directly, please let me know so I can update that post. :)

Just tested, it can't be purged. It's affected by battle spirit and can crit.

The way the proc works is soon as you attack from stealth it destealths you before everything else...Meaning you can only apply it to one target per stealth....The way it Clouding Swarm works is it you're basically stealthed for its duration even when ya do damage..so it'll work then.... I'm thinking any attack would work that way while in Clouding Swarm, so you get a pretty good synergy there.

The healing itself is kinda of *** for one target..but if ya applied it to multiple people it'd actually be pretty good.

People have whined so much about cloak and stealth that anything that comes out related to it becomes rendered immediately useless by all the restrictions they put on it to appease that crowd (despite the endless list of counters to cloak and stealth).

This set would be quite powerful if it works from Cloak, and it will be utterly useless if it only works from crouch. In order to make the "from crouch" version work, it would need upfront burst, which Viper already does.

Regardless, it's clearly a nightblade only set, which I'm not a fan of, even though nightblade is my main.

The critical hit requirement doesn't change anything.

Tested it as well, Battle Spirit reduces just the damage and not the healing, so gladly it's like the Scourge Harvester set.
The really long duration is interesting but the damage is a bit low, considering its really limited use (NB with Cloak, potions or Shadowstrike on a block build), 10-20% more wouldn't be a game changer but surely better.

@Xsorus you can't apply anymore the DoT on multiple targets using single target attacks, it's active just on one target no matter if single target or AoE skill, just Clouding Swarm is the only exception (only for damage, not healing) but it makes sense and it's a decent synergy.

    @Junkogen unfortunately I have to agree. :/

About 500 dmg and healing per second (in pvp) does hold up well compared to those options.

Don't forget that it can crit.
  • alex394053
    1. When you are invisible and you do not move, you are in a crouch stance.
    2. Shadowy disguise guarantees crit on next hit.

As for AoE procs - pity but it works for one target only.

7-8k over 15 seconds doesn't hold up against hundings rage, new skirimisher, clever alchemist, etc.

Mentioned sets are for pure dps purpose. This one is sustain/dps combo. Might find its use in PVP.

I've been using 5 vice cannon/5 viper/1 kena and it works pretty well. Going into cloak does reapply the dot/heal.
