double the cost of a shield if you already have one applied and make shields crit-able

    You must really hate sorcerers.

    He just wants balance.

He wants to destroy the sorcerer by the sounds of it. Having a cost increase on two of the sorcerers main defensive abilities(shield and streak) isn't balanced.

The first shields is same cost. Just shield stacking will have an extra cost.

Yes and it's not good considering sorcerers already have increased costs for bolt escape.

It is, they have the best magicka sustain in the game.

The decrease was down to 6 seconds however you shield stackers spam those shielding spells every 2 seconds so even if it was down to 3 seconds it wouldn't make a diffrence

They have 10% more magick recovery and 5% reduced cost. Nb's have 15% magick recovery and 8% more max magicka and dragon knights have battle roar so how do sorcerers have better magicka sustain?

Nightblades survived their nerf to cloak and stealth, sorcs can survive the nerf to shields.

This is a "heads I win, tails you lose" poll. You sorcs still have the stronger shield; the only thing that changed is that now your shield duration is the same as everyone else's.

I'd like it if Empowered Ward got back it's summons +% damage while active, to be honest.

As a Summoner I don't really appreciate my pet shields losing 12 seconds (if I go Empowered) / 14 seconds (if I go Hardened still) on THEIR shields, instead of just my own. In a group setting, if not most of the time the shields will time out in 6 seconds, instead of being removed by damage =/

Without a shield my Twilight basically gets oneshot in Dungeons.

Every sorc I dualled on PTS was unkillable, even the stam DK's failed. Only guy that drew was a heavy armour Magicka Templar but he was exceptionally good.

I think ZOS should just decrease the cost of ward to compensate for the duration this update. Wards nerf is really only going to be apparent in PVE where you'll probably have to fit it on your front bar and work it into your rotation. Any Sorc's who used it in PVP know that it will be down well before it expires. For PVP all you really lose is the safety blanket it provided, knowing that you had it up and could move freely for 20 seconds.

This is an indirect nerf to Daedric Summoning.

Zenimax should never be nerfing Daedric Summoning at this point.

Zos should do what King Richard has mentioned. Make it so you can only have 1 shield of that type up at a time. So for example your hardened ward must be completely depleted before you can add another. Then zos could keep the 20 sec up time and all that stuff.

How to make every sorc that does not already stack shields into a shieldstacker 101.

The idea is stupid and it did not take any skill back then to alternate between harness and hardened ward. The only thing that would achieve is EVERY sorc starts running harness and hardened together (which ofc king richard could care less about as he already does this).
It´s a horrible proposal when thinking about reducing shield stacking and increasing build variety.

I will adapt to PVP changes thats going to happen all the time no matter what. I'm reluctantly starting to have my shield on my offensive bar anyways because of the lag in switching them around under attack. What I don't get is the reason to reduce shield duration in PVE other than consistency.

If Absorption field silences enemy players instead of stunning them like it does to NPCs, then why not leave the PVE time alone and do what you will to PVP shields?

Obviously in Maelstrom Arena the lesser shield time factors in differently than a PVP setting. Were there some balance issues in PVE as well that needed to be addressed?

Adopt, adapt, and improve. I will whistle the tune from "Bridge on the River Kwai" and march on but I will not stop trying to negotiate some (keyword) compensation when I'm not whistling.
