if PTS patch notes stay "as is" for sorcs what will you be doing?

Tell us what your going to be doing with your Sorcerer!
If you are running multiple builds please select your main one and list the others by number.
If you have a rationale for your choice please explain

Build types (short version)
1. cookie cutter= 1 resto staff(or swords), 1 resto staff, Shield stacking, mines, streak, force pulse, crystal frags, det, curse, Overload, etc (you know the guys you see everywhere.
2. CC sustain type... uses soft CC and odd ball sets like winterborn and others to attack the opponents stamina then go in for the kill.
3. pet sorc = wears things like the hunt set, morkuldin, maw of the infernal, necropotence, etc... uses pets to overwhelm the enemy/extreme utility
4. tank sorc: Shield sorc or stamina/health based these sorcs can take a beating like no other. especially after the health buffs!
5. Healing/shielding sorc  ...uses sets like combat physician, spell power cure, trinimac, etc
6. Stamina sorc build: WB/dizzy swing, Flurry, sword and board, bow (hurricane lol)
7. Utility sorc, Running negate, barrier, warhorn, atronoch, wears group buff sets and isn't focused on any particular role, but rather just helping in general.
8. If your running something else, explain, enlighten us, explain your genius!
9. Nerfs to much? Everyone buffed beyond sorc? just bored of force pulse and crystal frags? rolling something different?
10. hybrid, your dancing on both sides of line between stamina and magicka, spell power and weapon power...

Explain how your adapting to the new changes

Ravage Stamina and Ravage Magicka poisons are only increasing costs by 30%, instead of the intended 60% cost increase.

Prophecy-Draining poisons created with three matching reagents are currently much less effective at reducing your target's Spell Critical than intended.

In several cases, applying two different poisons to your target will result in the first poison being overwritten by the second poison. This is not intended, and all different poison types will be able to coexist on the same target in a future patch.

Sorcerer

Dark Magic
Dark Exchange: Increased the amount of health restored from this ability and its morphs by 100%.
Storm Calling
Disintegrate:
Renamed this passive ability to Implosion.
This passive ability now also grants all Physical Damage you deal a chance to instantly pulverize low health enemies, dealing additional Physical Damage to them.
Updated this passive’s tooltip to indicate what the health threshold is for it to trigger.
Energized: This passive ability now also increases your Physical Damage done in addition to the Shock Damage done.
Hurricane (Lightning Form morph): This morph now also grants the Minor Expedition buff at all times while it is active.
Surge: This ability and its morphs now restore a flat value of health whenever you deal a Critical Strike. It will now also proc on any Critical Strike instead of only direct damage Critical Strikes, but can only restore health once every second.

numerous changes to skills like Sorc shields being handed to everyone, proxy det damage changes, curse is no longer considered a dot and does not recieve thermaturge bonuses any longer, fighters guild skills remapped and dawnbreaker is now completely stamina based. Surge is flat rate heals, changes to a few different passives like slotting a pet and having it out will give you 8% more hp. etc... lots of changes... the world is completely different

I've been a pvp sorc main for a long time but am re rolling stamblade for DB but it is mostly due to wanting something fresh. The top sorc skilled players will be fine if they slot the right abilities and adjust, if anything harness change has buffed the sorc play style overall.

No, it's just more effort than simply stating a planned course of action.

Why bother with a convoluted poll to begin with?

It would've easier to just poll asking "Like current PTS Sorc changes as of *insert patch here*: Yes/No" with instructions to explain how your build might change.

why... okay Because I wanna pick the brains of people and understand what others are thinking. Maybe there is something I missed on pts cuz my builds that do fantastic now, are smashed next patch fairly easily. I've come up with a few compromises... so I was wondering if others had as well. Also wanted to see where the general population was heading towards... etc

    Answer: curiosity.

and had I made the choices simplistic I wouldn't get the answers im seeking. Really 90% of everyone I see runs number 1. so.... it shouldn't be that complicated.

    Running a Sorc Healing/shielding Build
I already run my sorc as a healer with my pets out for added passive dps while I can focus on healing and using my iquid lightning aoe. I run Negate and summon atronach for my ultis so I have a use to help more dps on bosses and stopping adds in their tracks while we burn them down with aoes and gives regen to my teammates that are in my negate. So I will stick with it. I only use my shield when fighting bosses or if I pull agro from my aoe and just use pet for heal while popping on the shield and using my aoe to stay alive with the mob agro. It is fun

Odd that you dont recognize that people may play more than one.

Ok for me, my main v16 mag sorc will continue with some change to general play, many of which i have been testing before the change.
Moving off shields entirely for a while. Going with higher resist using bound aegis and electric whatever shock form. Thats minor and major resistance buffs along with magica and AOE around me constant damage.
The new Surge will be procing constantly due to crits from my attacks or dots.
Likely keep clanfear out for agro and 35% max health heal on demand.
    keep light armor.
Drop lightning ground aoe when right.
usual blasting with staff, crushing and quick-frags weaves.
have to revist champion pt spending once they finalize - likely less automatic max spell damage and mor efficient split between damage, crit and healing done recieved. Likely some extra on boost resistance cutting out the shield boost. Like i said, once they finalize will know more.
Defense model is higher mitigation and ongoing heal with occasional clanfear noost while maintaining layered offense.

For my second sorc, v14 now but cp160 soon who already has been varied in weapons and armor over the years, going to switch to stam sorc with SB and resto to begin. transitioned her to a tweener state right now since i wont be crafting any vr14 gear when she will jump to 16 in 18 days. But right now she still works even in a weird hybrid state.
Will be mostly medium armor, maybe medium plus 2 light, using bound arm, storm form/hurricane, surge, etc. Planning right now to drop her in TBS since thief and shadow will not only help primary offense but also surge proc chances. Most likely she will be outfitted in cp160 TBSx5, Briarhartx5 and a 2 pc undetermined.
Surge will keep heals coming, self-centered dot aoe will keep procing, major/minor boost resist.
Clanfear is likely but als subject to change once other sorc abilities and sta morphs solidify. Really liking streak (or a sta morph of it) for mobility even if its costly.

No shields planned for either, though depending on whats up may slot some.

Also, the new Altar blood undaunted is possible for ewither once it stabilizes if we need more damage/heal.

Finally, my first new purchase will be a khajit stam sorc. She will push crits to max. have to figure out differences between her and the other. mostly likely will adjust the second a little more away from crit and to stuns, and let the new one crit. Expecting bow and dw for weapons but the bow can change.

That will put me to three sorcs (two sta)

they will pair nicely with my other six:
Three templars (one mag, one sta, one currently mag who may go sta)
Three NB (two sta one mag no changes there.)

Will give me a broad swath of cp160 gear over cp max characters.

Then i can look at what to do with three more slots once these get fully revised and (for the new one) levelled up.

    Thats the plan so far.

Almost no chance of ever playing DK again. Had two. Ran them to VR finishing main quest but found them not interesting enough tactically to keep playing so scrapped them and restarted the third templar and NB. Might consider it, but who knows. After the changes might see a way to run another temp, nb, sorc all magica to give me an even split of 4 of each each 2-2 mag/sta which appeals to my innate sense of symmetry and order.

We just have to see what comes.

Indeed. I try to keep up with the builds and they go around the pts, but planing and spending a bunch of time trying to figure out what im going to do when it finallly hits live is sort of silly to me. Ill wait and see.

It is also easier for me since i plan on shifting classes right now i am running mostly magika nb and i plan on moving to sorc when db hits since he will then catch up.

But since he is only vr2 now, doing all the plotting and planning now with nothing set in stone is more work then i am willing to put in.

I guess mine is a niche build?

I run a Magicka Sorcerer Vampire.

I have my Unstable Clannfear, Lightning Splash/Liquid Lightning (I can never remember which on is the morph of the other...), Destro Staff, Mage's Wrath, and toggle between Greater Storm Atronach and Bats as my Ultimate. That's Bar 1.

Bar 2 is a pure Healer. But I only need to use the Healer when running Trials, Group Dungeons, Group Delves, or anything like that.

My equipment is 5x Seducer, 3x Torug's, all armor is Divines, my Staves are Torug's.

The changes coming with DB affect me none, so I'll just keep on truckin' with the status quo as I always have.

    Indeed.

I mean, I get nice DPS when I have the whole combo in action, but I never have enjoyed the rest of the Storm Calling Skill line too much. I get very good Spell Penetration, my criticals for Spells yield me a lot of yellow numbers.

I don't know... this build works very well for me on the PvE side. I never PvP, I just have never liked PvP in my MMO's. My Magicka regen is top-tier though... lol

When I'm Healing during Group Dungeons and Trials is the only real time my Magicka pool and regen get stress-tested. But I've held out well so far.

I've been toying around with upping my DPS side. So I will probably go into Reapers March and fool around with some different combinations of Spells. See if I can't find a set of Skills and activation order that might up my DPS.

On another side note, through fooling around in my earlier levels, I have all three Sorc class skill lines maxed at 50. I've just never really done much with Dark Magic and Storm Calling beyond the skills I currently use.

I'm not running a different build because I'm awesome, it's because it's what works for me. My reflexes and physical dexterity are pretty low; the shield spamming overload sorc is just not something I can play even though they can be very effective in PvP. If I 1v1 someone and win, it's probably 'cause they are running away and I can hammer them unhindered.

I really only PvP on my sorc, other than random mobs I aggro while harvesting. If solo in PvP, I sneak around and scout or join a defense or offense if I'm nearby. In small group play, I mostly DPS but try to provide group utility with radiant magelight to sniff out NBs, use streak to stun fleeing prey or before an ult bomb, etc. I also rarely stay at the back of the pack unless I am super low on resources or need to keep an eye on the healer(s). I run usually Kags/Vicious Death/Kena 1 piece if the enemy is playing tightly packed; Kags/Kena 1 piece/Willpower/2 Torug's if not or if I'm being sneaky solo.

I run lightning/resto; no overload. I'll stack healing ward when I need it, but mostly just hardened ward. Otherwise my burst is similar to the cookie cutter - Curse, Frags, crushing shock weave, mage's wrath. Det for groups.

So I am looking a 4 nerfs to me:
    • Shield changes - The duration is probably not an issue for me in combat. It will leave me more vulnerable to ganking and I am not going to be able to stay on siege as long when we are under counter siege -- if I have to constantly spam my shields I will need to back off early so I have enough magicka if we are attacked.
    • Curse nerf - I don't disagree with this nerf, but it still hurts. It's a major portion of burst damage, and without a spammable DPS, losing burst really hurts.
    • Det nerf - Again, I agree with the nerf. But it's hitting sorcs hard. I am more likely to use prox det defensively, and now if there's no danger in coming inside someone's det circle, that'll fail as soon as people get over being afraid of it.
    • Mines nerf - Stealth nerf, and probably unintentional. Gap closers are already extremely effective against sorcs, but if gap closers aren't going to trigger mines, there's really no point in slotting them.

Nothing suggests I will need to re-gear, except maybe exchange some spell damage enchants for regen. (I really feel our resources are going to get hit hard.) So I will try my sorc out for a while and see how it goes. I will exchange Hardened for Harness, swap Healing Ward for Ward Ally for the greater reliability, remove prox det when solo in favor of... dunno? Elemental Blockade maybe or Pulsar, and swap daedric mines for daedric tomb. I liked the idea of daedric tomb before, but it wasn't manageable for me -- with the option to have them drop on mouse cursor instead they may be very interesting.

But if the fun of playing my sorc is gone because I'm just another chick with a destro staff... I'll play my templar. Or my stamblade.

    EDIT:
P.S. I will also probably run one flavor of negate now. Hopefully the buff makes this a good addition for small groups.

Doesn't have my listing in the poll... Anyway, I'll be roughly the same for both my sorcs, the only difference is the magicka sorc has 20% in Bastion will convert to more Hardy and Elemental Defender relying less on a buff 20 sec shield and more on personal resistance, I'll still use Hardened Ward for the big hits. Even though that is my healer and it means I'm giving up on the 3 Revival perks, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make to stay alive. As for my stamina sorc I already use Thunder Presence, it changing to Hurricane does little to sway me away from it, I have double bows so my Dodge roll gives me Major Expedition.

    1. cookie cutter= 1 resto staff(or swords), 1 resto staff, Shield stacking, mines, streak, force pulse, crystal frags, det, curse, Overload, etc (you know the guys you see everywhere.

You mean like the cookie cutter spam shield all magicka sorcs are on live? Why don't you come back when you have skills.

Don't know what your hostility is about. Don't know why you don't think I have any skill lol, and Don't know why you even commenting here. I take it your a new player and sorc builds with shields irritate and baffle you. well there are other areas in this forum that can help you get around shields.... it's no longer a magicka thing, or a sorc thing. It's a everyone and their mother thing...and No one shield stacks better then Dk's in Dark brotherhood... So I suggest you learn how to get around them asap

Because this is not my first rodeo and i'm so tired of people over reacting to the pts patch notes, when my class gets nerfed and that is almost every dlc i just give feedback and then properly adjust why can't sorcs do the same and stop complaining because they no longer can have 16 k health on dungeons and trials because of shields and how hard they hit on live and how high their defensive capabilities are. So i suggest you get around to no longer having a 20 sec shield up at all times.

I am going to give Stam Sorc a try purely because hurricane looks awesome, no idea what build yet. I am just not all that excited about it because Stam DKs are going to be so much better in terms of potential dps.

Because we don't have your classes mitigation techniques. ours where donated to others...and other classes can even pull it off better now.

I'm guessing your a nightblade (guessing from the temperament and attitude), Imagine if they made a open class skill named "chameleon" that was attached to say... the destro staff. that Not only acted like a invisibility potion, but also purged 3 status effects and empowered the next attack?

    what would your reaction be?

Or if your a DK... What if Everyone else got your flappy wings?
or if your templar, got your Radiant destruction beam?
    etc...

class homogenization is a huge issue... And it's taken away the sorc identity. it's not as simple as nerfs or not being at the bottom of the barrel (even tho we are)... but it also has to deal with what it's like to play a sorc, and sorc identity. Streak has been nerfed to the ground already, shields are being attacked, and spamming skills/sustained fights seems to be no longer an option with the poisons entering the battle field that increase skill costs by 60%. so this kills alot of niche builds. In effect for sorcs... all of our enemies got alot stronger, and we over all had a generalized nerf across the board...which when stacked with poisons and other changes it... amounts to quite a bit.

Idk how else to explain my point of view, or many others. it's not simply a nerf. it's a lot bigger then that.

What if you put some cp on mitigation rather tham shields that will make a huge difference.
