Always thought it was odd when players only play one role. Just as odd as the comments that I am a better healer/tank than a dps. If your good at one role you'll be good in all roles. Especially when it comes to healing since I solid healed in this game will do almost as much damage as a full dps, while healing.

Because you are NOT a mechanic, scientist, surgeon and god in one.
People play as they see things in life.

As a part healer i wish more dps would learn this. Unless the tank is standing in a red that is going to one shot you, stand on the tank while you are spamming your happy crazy little aoe things that you like to do. Because if i have to choose who i am going to let die, it aint going to be the tank.

And it is becoming a better idea everyday as i see more and more nontemplar healers in the random group finder.

Healers should ALWAYS stay on the tank.
There's just the Tank and the Healer, others are cannon fodder.
Yes, we DPS are cannon fodder.

Nope

Nope, but that's because I only play 1 character more than anything. Other games I've played the healer or the tank, but choose a DPS early on and stuck with it.

Heal only

I love healing. The fact that ESO still supports the trinity is one of the reasons I play it. I hate that so many new releases are phasing out the idea of healing and/or supportive gameplay styles completely.

I do both!

I enjoy PvE a lot, and I have a dedicated DPS (magicka Sorc), Tank (stamina DK) and Healer (magicka Templar). Now I'm slowly levelling up other DPS characters (like a stamblade and a stamplar), but I really enjoy playing as Tank or Healer in a group. Sometimes I just can't bother with the stress of making sure I reach a DPS threshold number all the time, and it feels nice to have a unique role to play in the group to keep your group members alive.

Tank only

Yea, tank role is best role.

- No need to worry about DPS numbers
- Hybrid builds are a thing
- Impossible to get kicked from dungeon (YMMV - if you're getting kicked as a tank, you're not really a tank)
- Instant queues
- Priority heals
- Priority rez (Shouldn't be necessary, but hey - we're not always sober tanks. Just sayin')
- Occasional option to solo boss, like a boss
- Tanks are like bass players - they don't get noticed much, but you still need them around to make you look good.

I do both!

I expect that your query is based on the difficulty of finding tanks for pug dungeons. Here is the thing, I tank, and a lot of other buddies of mine do as well but we never tank pug runs because pug dps is often so terrible that you don't get completes. If I dps or heal and the tank is even halfway capable I can carry a whole group with just my dps. If I tank this is not so. This may be some of the issue finding tanks.
