Usefulness of Backlash now

So I read this topic but it's a year old, and I wonder what's the usefulness now. Is it really so good for bosses in dungeons?
In what particular situations it can release a maximum damage shown in spell description?

I used it once in dungeon on my templar dps and didn't find any special damage or advantages.
On trash mobs like on the pictures, the amount of damage returned to mob, comparing with damage they do to me, is ridiculous...

As a dps ability I don't enjoy it. There are better abilities to use from the dawns wrath tree to still be able to get you passive bonuses. But the morph of it purifying light is an amazing ability if you're a healer. The ability to get free damage from other players and create a healing pool is definitely useful.

I think you are confused based on looking at your pictures.

It is damage that YOU do to the enemy that is built up, not damage that is done to you.

Does this change your perspective on how it works?

I think it's all damage from all sources meaning other players too

I run it as a healer almost always. It's low cost and grants minor sorcery for group through illuminate passive. Also builds ultimate and stores group damage. Creates healing circle when it's done and it's also useful to highlight targets in dungeons. They raised the cap on it now and I think it might be able to crit now so why not:

Power of the light is nice for healers or stamplars in trials as it is the only skill that grants the minor spell resistance debuff. But from a pure damage point of view it's not worth it in most situations since it can't do critical damage.

Well, yes, if you put it that way :). Because when I read that it is "copying (or storing) all damage taken", I thought that I take this damage from enemy, not give it to enemy. So a misunderstaning from wrong translation....
Now I'm enlightened and understand that standing still and awaiting for the bear to hit me just to calculate on screen damage was absolutely wrong :D:D .

Not really your fault. Tooltip could use a little edit.

"...Copying all damage taken...", should be changed to, "...copying all damage they take..."
