Not an Option and hopefully never will be, last thing we need are elitist's kicking people out of groups for not having optimal gear.

Always this same comment. This makes me want to bang my head on the desk every time. It is so utterly blind.

    - 'Elitists' don't group with noobs, they group with other Elitists.
    - 'Elitists' don't need to inspect you to know that you are a noob.
    - You cannot convince an 'Elitist' that you are experienced/geared if you are not. Even without the Group dps window, it is painfully obvious when someone is a noob. E,g, Armour: you wear heavy armour and use a bow and call yourself heals or dps or tank = solo player. I do 800k damage to a boss which has 1m Health. the other 3 people in the group do 200k. 1 is a tank, 1 is a heal, 1 is, more than likely, a noob.

I.e., You are hiding NOTHING by avoiding this feature.

    But

It would be an awesome way to show off builds, provide Epeen and generally be nosey. Popular in many games and gives newbies an idea of what Vets are using for gear. No secrecy in this since the Youtubers Broadcast every semi-viable build for all and sundry anyway.

There's a difference between "elitist" and "elite", you know... one just thinks he falls in the other group (which may or may not be true).

Just because someone can follow a FOTM build guide does not mean they are any good at the game.

    THANK YOU.

People get fascinatingly upset and hostile once you mention this. In fact in my experience the best players I've come across in PvE and PvP aren't using FOTM builds at all. But people who use FOTM builds are usually a hurry to show off and make sure you know just how good they are, not their builds.

    Incredibly off topic rant on builds, parts of which can't be said enough;
<rant>Truth is any poor sod can play effectively with FOTM builds because FOTM builds are, objectively, a build that gives more return for less investment. Finding imbalances and using them is the very definition of meta builds or FOTM - what I, you (you reading this) or anyone else thinks about this is irrelevant, I'm just stating the blatanly obvious.
And I get it, some people just want to compete in the dps race. I instead prefer to hone my skills with my own build that's remained more or less unchanged since game release and in some updates my build has been more or less interchangeable with some meta build, and in some updates certainly not.

This has already cost the game thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of players who were lead to believe that they could play any way they want. To be fair, in many situations you can play more or less the way you want but the elitism in this game is shutting doors on so many players just because they aren't min maxing. Four average players who can do a veteran dungeon in maybe 40 minutes to an hour get shut out by the tossers who want to do veteran dungeons in less than 20 minutes and thinks that anything slower is horrendously bad. Seriously, this is the cancer of ESO.
Of course if you're obviously a bad player, or just daft, you won't get a group to do some content - it's all fair enough.

If I get matched with a group of my skill and gear we can clear vWGT and vICP in like 40 minutes, which I consider quite good tbh. But I don't NEED to do it this fast, I don't really care. I want to have a good time, something a lot of players seem incapable of understanding.
Part of this issue is on ZOS's hands because there's only a couple of items in the entire game you have to grind for (LF1M tank Molag Kena farm, LOL link achievs) and I can understand players who want to do it fast. Thing is, you shouldn't have to do a dungeon fast, you should have the chance of being rewarded for just completing it.

Back in my days in playing early WoW, TERA and Rift, I really loved the idea of inspecting other players so I can see what kind of gear they have which in turn, will give me a clear goal in what I want to achieve - or surpass. However, a few levels later - coupled with a few dungeons and raids - I think that having the ability to inspect gear will only be a bias towards newer players (Those who went to the instance for the first time) as overzealous group leaders/members will likely vote - or force, in some cases - to kick said players. all that said considering how much games have those "elitist" group of players where gears and stats mean the whole damn world to them.

In conclusion, while the idea has some novel merit to it, I really think that having the ability to inspect other players' gears will be disadvantageous in the large scheme of things. Bias and elitism will be more prevalent than normal if such a feature were to be activated.

Note: When I mentioned early WoW, TERA and Rift, I actually meant the early stages of each MMO - the grind from zero to the cap.

"Just ask them", "ask nicely" - shows up in so many posts...
What about people who doesn't know English, or know only a little? This is a megaserver (*PC EU I mean), in fact with people from so many different countries. Knowing English isn't mandatory to play the game, but knowing it well is mandatory if you want to ask others for their gears and understand correctly what they describe.
I bet many people don't ask or reply because they simply do not understand other languages :).
English isn't also my native, and that's also a reason I usually do not ask random players for more than basics. Sometimes they write something and I just don't get it ;). I won't ask again or ask for special treatment/longer explanations since I know nobody have time for this.

Now, inspecting like in swtor allows me to see the build before I ask for anything.
If I'm allowed to see their build, and in swtor we have enough time to read everything until the player stays in line of sight, no need to be hurry, I can ask specific questions based on what I saw and thought through. It only saves time, a lot of my time and others.

"Just ask them," is also incredibly naive.

If you really want to know their gear, just ask.

In all honesty, if your with your people and they have your standards then the exchanging of information should be easy enough. If you have any reason to believe a person is being untruthful with you, then odds are you wouldn't want to play with them anyway even if there was a inspect options.

But the lack of an inspect option is useful for not encouraging elitists to try and enforce their play style onto others. At least now they have to communicate thier displeasure instead of just kicking based on inspection. Really, inspect options just leads to a ton of abuse.

As has been stated many times before, even in this thread, why not just ask?

People aren't always nice enough to answer. I asked several people over the course of the game about their gear because I like the looks and didn't recognize the style yet only a couple actually answered me.

While I'm at it, can someone tell me what style has the 2 hand scythe? That was something I asked about and never got a reply.

    @Vigarr I think it's soul shriven.

Bad players love not having this option. Tanks with dps gear, healers with horrible builds and stat allocation lol. Makes me laugh cause the ppl crying not to have it in game as an option are jus telling on themselves saying they're horrible in game lol.

Not always, some people just generally don't like it and would prefer others minding their business.

Even though i'm pro-choice on this matter (a toggle option in the settings or smth similar), i understand it. But i also hope that people star considering benefits of this before dismissing it.

Just like CP, it's a simple matter of a difficulty level adequacy. Having someone 16 levels underleveled and not scaled through group finder is not a good idea even for a normal dungeon - you don't need to be an above average player to realize that. Also, everyone must have encountered a player who lied about their defences/skills/abilities/experience just for the giggles of it - and made the whole group have a really bad time.

Inspecting, or at least seeing some chunks of char's information elminates it to a certain level - and makes your grouping life easier. This way quick key runs get quicker (everyone knows what they are there for), exploration/learning runs get way less stressful (again, everyone is aware of what they've signed up for).

For as long as group finder matches people with 0 cp and 500+ cp in 1 group, this will be an issue.
Skye Cloude - Sorc DPS, Master Crafter. Main, the bestest
Lae Lenne - Templar Healer Trial grade.
Dromede - Stamina Nightblade, she's a newb and doesn't know what she's doing
V'oghatta - Stamplar pretending to be a tank
Ulville Thonvella - aspiring Fire Mage, be careful around her fire sticks!
Dromedaris - lost and not found. Named after a shoe, what else can you expect from her? A proper tank in her wildest dreams
Swims-Naked - too pretty to grind, too silly to quest.
Sun Flair - Dunmer Templar that can't spell for life. To bad she's too broke to afford a name change... Well, at least she's pretty...

Word "elitist" on this forum has so negative overtone, maybe we'll put it to forbidden list in Code of Conducts as a try to heal a bit those unhealthy relationships and negative connotations o:) .
