Just lately I have seen some 'odd' costumes running around with Tamriel. For example I saw one person with T shirt and Jeans. Where are these costumes coming from and how does one get them?

    I wear nothing.

    I am.

    Nothing.

Seriously though, you can get the costume from the servants in Stros M'kai!

I wear a ragged shirt and lightweight trousers on my Sorc. It's a servants costume found in a haystack north of Eastmarch bank. It will disappear when I do the quest though, assuming it's part of the skill point quests.

In addition to certain outfits found in baskets, that are usually disguises for quests, you can also find clothing in containers in houses, and wear that.

Just take it off before completing the quest and you can keep it forever. All quest costumes work this way

There's some quest costumes as others have mentioned and there's also the crown store where people buy clothes with real money converted into crowns.

Is the shirt a light blue color? I got servants clothes from a DC quest in the Alik'r desert.

There are clothing items that you can steal & fence. However, you're probably looking at disguises or costumes since they can be worn over armor.

The worst part is you click on these threads expecting to see Zenimax said something interesting...and all you find are they themselves posting unconstructive comments. I'd rather not even see the Zenimax tag on the thread to be honest.

They are good for hanging around town. Plus, you can dye them. And there's a kilt.

    :)

I try to retain some of the quest disguises as costumes though it is sometimes a bother because they fill inventory space. Since they act as costumes later, I wish they could be moved into the costume slot. It could be a reward for managing to hold on to the disguise. I do wish costumes and disguises could be dyed though. Too many people running around in identical clothing reverts us back to the beginning when all the armor was green. I do like that real clothing, while not a costume and so only useful for safe areas, can be dyed. I think more people would wear it if there were nicer pieces to be found. Sometimes I put on town clothes or mage robes and just walk around. It's always easy to know the NPCs, they don't run everywhere.

The only problem with quest disguises are that when you get into a fight, they come off.At least that's what I have noticed. At least costumes dont come off that way.

Gina mentioned that they are looking into the forum view of moderation posts vs actual developer posts, but said it is trickier than it looks. Let's just say that we will see this "soon" :)

This is an awesome idea so you get an awesome. Once you finish a quest that requires a disguise it should move straight to your costumes. Also yes please let us dye them!

@ZOS_GinaBruno just to get it on your radar but I'm sure it's probably been mentioned before.

I've given feedback on that before - you should get a quest disguise added as a costume once you finish the quest. It would be nice to not have to keep them with a mule.

Also, the disguises shouldn't disappear when in general combat - only in combat with the baddies that you were supposed to be disguised as. From what I understand, that can continue even after you complete the quest, but it shouldn't poof when fighting unrelated mobs.

Moving disguises into costumes at the end of the quest? Yeah, that's been mentioned before. They said it's something they will look into. The UI icons for those disguises are actually already in place in the "costumes" part of the data files, so I assume it will be happening Soon™.

Yeah, this is basically correct. There are some rare cases where multipe areas use the same disguises. Like the Red Rooks in Glenumbra. But, that's an exception.

There was a bug, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and horses had a level cap, where some disguises would be destroyed by enemies whp were coded to destroy different disguises. But that was fixed ages ago.
