Bug: Sheer venom set not proccing multiple targets

HeroOfNone
HeroOfNone

Sheer venom's 5 piece bonus is write as it will give a poison DOT to any enemy hit with an execute ability. Testing it out on PTS, steel tornado and reverse slice only procedures the 5 set bonus on one enemy, not several that were hit. The one hit seemed to be what ever enemy was targeted. This should either be fixed on those abilities (at the very least steel tornado) or the tooltip should be updated.
(5 items) Causing damage with an Execute ability infects the enemy, dealing 1204 Poison Damage every second for 6 seconds. The effect has a cool down of 6 seconds.

Same as Baharaha's Curce which also don't have anything in description which says that it can proc only on one target. Don't think that this is a bug.

Oh, and the tooltip can be changed to "target enemy" to avoid the confusion, on this set and multiple other sets where the number of targets is ambiguous.

Even the cooldown doesn't factor into this. If I use tornado to an enemy on my left, right, behind, etc. Anywhere but targeting them, the poison dot doesn't go off

not an execute ability... do you even read the tool-tips. and "no" ST is not a true execute with the 200% more damage to low health targets. furthermore, if it could proc on ST, it would proc on only one of those targets. you can easily see this on other sets with a CD. ie Affliction set.

No need for the attack, chill a moment.

While testing this ability does proc on steel tornado, venom shot, and reverse slice. But it only procs when targeting the enemy, SDome thing not requines of steel tornado. So if you turn away from an end and spam tornado it won't proc until you turn to target them.

So, either it's a bug that it's not applying to all targets hit for 6 seconds, it's a bug that it does apply the poison for one target for 6 seconds when you don't target them, or the tooltip is wrong and should say target enemy.

I'll have a highlight clip to illustrate later.

well now, that's weird... and good to know it procs on those skills. makes this set good inspite of the CD.

Proccing on 1 target was intentional. This change happened when they nerfed the damage of the set making it practically unusable. Sure it was ticking to high on the initial IC Patch but a lot of things were. It went from like 5k a tick to all targets hit to 1200 with only one target per 6 seconds.

In Orsinium this set got changed from several targets to only 1 target procable at a time.
    RIP

I also dunno why they did this, because literally nobody used it and they still had to press the nerfhammer on it

This one (as a khajiit stam sorc) was wearing this set for a time being for pure purpose of fun. I did never proc’ed multiple targets. And while this one enjoyed this effect while playing a bit of PvP, low damage of this set makes it garbage in PvE.
But indeed this one remembers being quite disappointed figuring out that it only proc on single taget. And this is true, that somebody wrote previously, almost nobody wears 5 pieces of this set (several stamina dps wear it because of very nice (2)-(3) set bonuses).
But this is actually the problem of several sets, that the “special” effect is on (5) piece bonus. This is the same problem this one has with this new hybrid set (pelitial or something like this). While this one finds the effect curious and fun, it is just not worth it to “waste” 5 armor pieces to obtain the effect.
Anyway, this one is offtopicing. This is not a bug that sheer venom not proc on multiple targets.

Well, it's not that bad for PvP to be honest.

    For burst builds:
400 damage is still more burst than the 42 more weapon damage you'd get from Hunding's gives you.

    For DoT builds:
This is one more DoT for enemies to cleanse/purge and adds some 400 undodgeable/blockable DPS.

For melee builds obviously Viper is better for burst than this set, but I'd still use Sheer Venom on a bow gank build.

For PvE, it would be good for single target DPS if not for the duration of 6 seconds (where as you refresh Poison Injection every 8 seconds) and the inability to proc it on multiple targets with Steel Tornado.

Though even if it had longer duration and/or no cooldown, Viper would outperform it next patch.

The shame about viper, is the 2x crit bonuses, I find these bonuses so wasted in pvp, mostly due to players ability to almost nullify crit dmg and the fact you loose base dmg and sustain.

Yeah, though they always make your heals crit more often :p

Still, kind of a waste if you're a NB using Shadowy Disguise - but the 5-set more than makes up for it (especially for burst) and actually benefits from Shadowy Disguise as well.

Biggest problem I have with the set is that it's Argonian style, just like the new Vicecanon set (another decent looking option for stamblades).

    Fashion torture :(

Could be interesting to combo it with Sheer Venom for a DoT build. From one heavy attack+poison injection from cloak, you get 3 (4 with poison status effect proc) DoTs on target.

As someone pointed out already, your info is false. The set can proc off any execute skill, even if the enemy is not in execute range.

From my understanding, it used to proc on multiple enemies at once but was then nerfed to only effect a single enemy at a time. This could be wrong, as it is merely hearsay, but the set certainly isn't as viable as it used to be unfortunately.

gah, i wish I could make myself do pve to get this set then.

Its bad for pve and its bad for pvp. Procs for like 400 dmg in pvp.

My plan is to test out vicecanon. The dot isnt superstrong exactly, but it also heals you.

Yeah, those are my thoughts as well.

Whether I'll use it or not depends on if you can proc it from Cloak (going to test this out today if no one else has yet).

Yes it proccs out of cloak, on multiple targets too when I tested it.

...Did you just say on multiple targets?

    Holy sh*t. Steel Tornado time.

Consider me officially hyped for this set.

This could make cloak worth slotting in vMSA too, I hope it doesn't get nerfed.

The way I tested it was with bow and cloak on up to 3 targets, procced on all targets, dunno if it works with aoe from stealth.

Could be interesting to combo it with Sheer Venom for a DoT build. From one heavy attack+poison injection from cloak, you get 3 (4 with poison status effect proc) DoTs on target.

Yea, but sadly sheer venom is out of reach for me, I only pvp.

do you need to actually do execute bonus dmg to proccing this set, or is it proccing even when enemies are at full hp?

If I rapid strikes a full hp enemy, will this poison dmg proc from the dual wield passive that makes every DW skill bonus dmg to low health targets? Even tho its not low health yet but its still the execute skill?

Sry im really bad at explaining this hehehe :)

This one never tested SV on flurry, but it worked with steel tornado and 2h execute ability and bow poison injection even when target was 100%.

Tested it after the last patch and it is now proccing without targeting enemies with steel tornado but still only hitting one target at a time. A bit of a let down for a set from one of the hardest and longest in the game.

PVE side it's not a bad set necessarily, you need to stack stamina to make up for the weapon damage, and it does 1.5k a tick normally. So any execute becomes a 6 second dot you can weave in, useful for long range DOT builds. Still may not be the best for min maxers, which is sad.

I see a good use for it in singletarget damage builds in pvp. In conjuction with other dots

Considering the set of viper and damage viper does, SV seems very weak in case of both AoE and single target damage. Especially that twin set from ICP - scating mage - is considered atm best in the game. But who is this khajiit to judge?
