Yeah it's not how many CP you have its how you use them... Wait what were we talking about again?
Even distributed points is not that useful, as you have no way of knowing where they were distributed. Someone with 300 points distributed one way may be way more or less powerful than someone who distributed them differently. That's why I think showing CPs is unnecessary; it doesn't tell you anything useful. There is no point in showing ALL champion points. Show only distributed chamption points, so it will be 501 max. 700+ dudes will just scare/confuse new players. There is no difference between 501 and 1501 atm.
How are any of these changes an improvement over the vet rank display we have now? It's cluttered, ugly and displays more information than is needed. The whole ui looks mangled by a Wow programmer from the 90s if you turn on all the toggles. It looks archaic and cartoonish compared to the current aesthetic.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Please don't change it, I want to know how many CP someone has when grouping with them or fighting them in PVP, it is important information to know just like knowing what vet rank they are now.

I have already filtered out the @ names from what I see in the game, but I am interested to see what they are doing.
it is odd that I once considered the information presented about other characters to be a little too minimalist, so I wrote an add-on to give more information. Now, I find myself working on PTS to remove information that ZOS presents. It is really odd being on the other side of the "minimalist UI" fence from ZOS, at least on some things. Starting to get lonely over here.
Curious that anyone is more upset about this than having half their login information visible on screen.
Oh also, I do understand what you are saying - welcome to MMOs. Sorry I can't be more positive

As far as CP rank, it just make it public information how much time you have spent on the game / grind IMO, not much more.

I don't understand why everyone is just NOW upset about their @ name showing, you can already see it in the game. Just switch to gamepad mode and BAM. Everyone you look at has their @ name instead of their character name.
