Concept: Reincarnation

In Dungeons and Dragons Online, I always loved the concept of True Reincarnation. It gave you access to more powerful builds, allowed you to experience many different playstyles on one character so as not to necessitate rerolling, and greatly extended the life of the game.

Incase you don't know what True Reincarnation is, I'll explain it.

True Reincarnation in DDO essentially rerolls your current character and starts it back at level one, but with all the same gear and gold stored in a separate bank granted upon reincarnation that you can withdraw from at any time. Reincarnating this way starts your character at level 1 with a potentially new race and class and a more potent build (DDO gives stat points upon character creation, you can be a 28- (free), 32- (premium), 34- (2nd life), or 36-points (3rd life) build) as well as a unique feat(s) determined by your previous lives.

Then proceeds the grind back to max level and potentially another life. For example, a DK past life could give a 1-2% bonus to fire damage per stack of that life up to say 3 while a Templar past life could be 1-2% healing done and/or 1-2% magic damage.

In addition DDO also has a completionist feat that is obtained for having at least 1 life per class that gives a +2 bonus to ALL stats and skills. In ESO, this could translate to 1-2% spell damage, weapon damage, resources, and spell/weapon crit. Not enough to give a substantial enough boost to break the game but enough to reward those who put in the effort of playing all of the classes.

Or you could just start a new char and withdraw your items from YOUR SHARED BANK.

I think you missed the point. Maybe reread it?

I think the approach is good, however, this would become just another grind-feast just to max everything.

I like the concept, it's along the lines of duel character. I have seen it done in one other game really well. It was limited of course once you changed you couldn't go back. Interesting...

This is a good grind, since you're actually guaranteed something rather than it being 100% RNG like the other grinds.

    Oh, also:

Theres already too much vertical progression.
This is just another even longer grind for more vertical prgression.

Make it horizontal progression and I am all ears ;)

Top players have already their builds and gear based on what you call:
Not enough to give a substantial enough boost to break the game but enough to reward those who put in the effort of playing all of the classes.

The difference is that what you suggest can be obtained via mindless grinding, while in the current system players have to improve their playing skills + social skills to obtain the same.

I like the idea, seeing as how I like to focus on my main but often struggle to find the motivation to play for long because I have nothing more I can achieve with him. While PVP is broken, end game content is lacking and something like reincarnating as a new class with potentially more power/new skills would be a good motivator/keep me entertained. Leveling alts just isn't the same. I would like it if the reincarnation gave you a couple of options for what you could become based on your current class. For instance, templars who reach max level can reincarnate/morph into a Paladin or a Spellsword for instance, with each having different perks and skill lines. A nightblade who maxes out can choose to become a dual wielding Rogue, or a bow-wielding Hunter. In this scenario, I suppose they'd be more like Jobs from other RPGs. I think it would allow for more build diversity and create new incentive to keep playing.

I'd imagine reincarnation being more like I'm a Sorcerer, and I reincarnate into a DK. Then I become a level 1 DK with one or two more attribute points and a Sorcerer past life.

What you describe sounds like Prestige classes (specialized sub-classes that expand upon a specific area of a class's strengths) if you relate it to DDO like I am. That being said, I'd LOVE Prestige classes as well. DDO (and DnD, since some DnD things aren't in DDO) has a ton of systems that ESO could certainly pull ideas from.
