CP ranks:
5. a player with high vet ranks - if he does good in Cyrodiil or PVE "OMG he is a cheater with that large amount of CP" "I lost because he has more CPs than me, OMG remove CP system"; If he fails in Cyrodiil or PVE "lol what a sucker ima gonna screenshot and brag about beating him". Jealousy and hates will do more harm than good here.
Overall, the current setting on the PTS is going to create more hates and drama in the already toxic game environment . I believe ZOS's intention is to encourage competition, but this has gone way too far IMHO. Please reconsider to revise the current setting, or at least offer people an option to hide their CP ranks and account names if we prefer. Thank you for listening and please reconsider your decision on PTS.

@Ghost-Shot
Sorry but this game is focusing too much in desires of the "elite" Players i mean 150 for equipment only plays in the hand of the trading guilds and costs too much.
And catering to the casuals, well a game should always be something casual and not something where you have to spend more than 12 hours or more just grinding grinding grinding
Darth_Trumpious wrote: »After reviewing the discussion on forum, I believe that CP rank AND account name SHOULD NOT be displayed completely, at least without an option to hide them;
My reasons are listed below:
Account name:
1. Account security problems with account name shown
2. In-game harassment - easier to receive hate whispers / harassing tells from other players when you have your account name shown
CP ranks:
1. Creates Elitism - people will kick lowbies and bar them from enjoying the game contents if the CP is not "optimal" when it comes to grouping
2. What's the difference between CP rank 501 and 1501? Zero. Thus showing the ranks above current cap is misleading and confusing
5. For a player with high vet ranks - if he does good in Cyrodiil or PVE "OMG he is a cheater with that large amount of CP" "I lost because he has more CPs than me, OMG remove CP system"; If he fails in Cyrodiil or PVE "lol what a sucker ima gonna screenshot and brag about beating him". Make ESO great again and build walls, instead displaying the CP ranks and account name!
Yes account names could be found elsewhere, it's just visually displeasing, even if you can change the display.
Concerning the CP display, I somewhat agree with the OP.
I have wayyyyy more CP than the cap, and "elitism" is really not something I am afraid about. But why not display my played time and the amount of gold I have in my bank too while we're at it ? We went from no name plates to too-much-information in one DLC
But at least, show the CP SPENT and not won. Nobody needs to know some people are at 800-1000 CP : 501 is the max spent anyway, so like OP was saying, it will be confusing for some (a lot.....) of people.
And it would be so much more useful : I once played with a v16 who had spent NONE of his CP, because... reasons. And I was wondering why he was so bad... And when we tried to explain him that he had to spend them, well he ignored us. Yeah, those kind of people, I'd definitely avoid even for Wayrest Sewers...
Software engineer here. Distributed systems at the operating system level, including networking and security.
Account name
1. Myth. Usernames being publicly visible is old as the hills. its not part of security to hide it and does not meaningfully increase security to do so. Email addresses are user names, system accounts are usernames on unix and visible, user names are your handle on chat systems. etc. Have a not-crap password and this is no issue at all.
2. Blocking people by @ solves this
CP Ranks.
1) It could do that, but probably won't often. those people are dickbags either way.
2) I agree. Cap at current max spendable is reasonable
3) They will say that whether or not they see the ranks. silly objection

So when you're at your workplace, do people address you in conversation by your email address? As in, "Hey denidil@softwarecompany.com, how was that Mets game?" Because that's EXACTLY what is starting to happen in chats on the PTS. This is extremely annoying to anyone who cares about role-playing. Got any engineering solutions for that?
