I have been suspended and I'm guessing it's for this. I transferred writs between two characters 2 weeks ago to pick up my surveys quickly, but I didn't exploit, so I'll keep you posted on if they lift suspensions for the innocent.

Yes it would be wonderful if people effected by this would keep us posted if they get a lift. Back in the day, when we had the mass dupe exploit that lots of players got caught up in unknowingly, they started lifting bans with out a single word, email, or phone call(back when they still did that). People were just magically allowed to log back in and they made a global forum announcement the day after on the forums. Lets all hope they do the same here!

I was cautious about this, and moved my collector toon to a wayshrine and ported to another wayshrine in Wrothgar before summoning the banker and picking up my duplicate writ.

There seemed to be no problem doing it this way.
So at least temporarily it can be worked around.
Cumbersome, but it's better than having to fight a ban hammer

Have you tried exiting the game and logging back on to make sure that you are still able to log on?

Just to make this sure... they did permaban you for this ***? If that's true I really hope that they will respond on this thread because otherwise I will unsub (even if I'm not affected), because this behaviour is unacceptable. If they aren't 100% sure that a person did use any exploit THEN DON'T *** BAN THEM *head -> keyboard*

I'm not supposed to get into the details about my disciplinary action but i will say i'm not perma banned, THIS TIME. In the past over issues like this, myself and others were, but once they learned they made massive amounts of mistakes they started to lift the bans. This is what bothers most about ZoS. They have done this in the past, and don't seem to learn form it. They have even said they don't use scripts to ban, but i find that hard to believe when massive amounts of people get banned at once and a large majority of them are then found to have done nothing wrong.

So here sit a lot of players in the same boat as me, who most likely wont even have their tickets looked at since its Friday night, and no one will be in the office to deal with this issue until next week. I guess the saving grace this time around is they didn't do it on the day before a major holiday weekend like last time, and they wont be away for an extended weekend. =(

They may not be away for a long time, but it is a bank holiday weekend in the UK, so anyone here caught up in this will be unlikely to be able to play during any of their extended time off.

    !!UPDATE!!

I got a generic response back and its obvious no effort was even done to look into the problem. I have now asked for a refund on the banker hireling, as its not acceptable to have paid for a product that is causing my account to be suspended do to negligence on the companies part. This is really not cool. That is way to much money to be spending on an item with this type of result.

I know I'll probably be the bad guy here but I'm ok with that. I have no problem with ZOS banning people based on what they think is suspicious behavior. I think that it protects the integrity of the game and its economy. I do the writs everyday and never once thought about passing writs between bank and other characters. I think its better to ban this behavior and sort it out later. This also sets a presidents that cheating will not be tolerated and will be punished accordingly.

I also received a general email response back with the link to the Hotfix. Do they not realize that all they have to do is a little research to discover the very few ppl who did actually use the exploit. Like the ppl that have thousands of resources gathered in an hour.

Except that you aren't gaining anything by doing the swap and its allowed. Shouldn't be our fault they failed to program the exploit out and had a few ppl use it. I mean should they ban ppl for unknowingly doing something wrong that they have been doing since day one and ZoS has never released and warning against such action.

Yeah you're not a bad guy lol. I agree with you they should take action against people who actually exploited but there is a lot more going on here then just that. I'm really angry right now so I'm going to try to be nice and I'm sorry in advance if I get mean. But spending 40 dollars on an item that harms your account do to negligence on ZoS part is 100% not *** ok in the least bit! Enough time has passed by now we're they Know they have made a big mistake for many people and should have come to the forefront and addressed their mistakes.

I'm still clueless on what the exploit actually is! If toon A places a survey in the bank and toon B pulls it out and harvest how is that an exploit. If that's the case they should be bound to the character that did the writ.

Thats why im asking for a full refund on the Banker Hireling, and everyone else should be doing the same. If they cant be open about what the exploit actually is, how its done, and how we avoided it in the near future then they should be offering full refunds on that Banker Hireling.

ESO is like a girlfriend that you love but she separates from for you for "cheating" but you never did and she is just really paranoid. They should have done this better. Close the exploit. Then find the major players and ban them. Instead they run a ban script that fits a certain set of ppl into a group and bans them.

And the worst part is they have past history doing this, and either have not learned from it, or just flat out don't care. Having so much invested in this game makes it hard to step away but as the old saying goes. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

I want my damn money back. How in the world do you get banned for using something the way it was MEANT to be used? The banker assistant is a quality of life item. Right? And a $50 USD item in particular. You mean to tell me that you (ZO$) are banning people for using the banker for what's meant for? Making your life easier, in that you won't have to travel to a town to access the bank every time you need to deposit or withdraw something. But since I: Did my writs on all my characters, placed the surveys I earned into the bank to be retrieved by my crafting character, and withdraw said surveys from my crafting character... I should be punished for 72 hours...? Really?

TL;DR Version: ZO$ treating their customers horribly again.

I will NEVER buy another ZO$ game, nor buy anything again from the crown store. EVER! This is how you treat your customers? Let alone beta testers such as myself, and or those who have had ESO+ subscriptions forever? I've always had ESO+ and bought hundreds of dollars of things from the crown store. I bought this game twice. On PlayStation 4 and Mac. And now I'm getting punished for something you could've coded better? Oh hell no. Give me a refund please. I'll send a ticket if I have to. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

I find it very amusing that innocent people are getting banned by some silly script ZOS wrote to auto-ban people for doing something that some people have alternate legitimate reasons for doing. Is their no end to the programming amateur hour?

But then, I remember that this is the same development team that let a known item dupe bug go live at launch even after being warned about it at beta. Some people got banned then but not before tons of Dreugh wax was dumped into the economy. They even refused to fix it until someone posted a how-to video on youtube, then they decided to take action.

Why don't you just ban everyone that bought a banker ZOS? Maybe wasting that much money on this game deserves a ban in and of itself.

I bet 90% of people here who got banned are saying this to get out of it. They probably banned you for the amount of unique nodes you were farming not transferring surveys over, they wouldn't be that stupid to ban for that, they know there are a ton of crafters in this game.

And you would be 100% wrong. History proves just how bad they have handled this stuff in the past. How many mass banning apologies are they going to have to do before people stop saying this. [snip]You see, "betting" is not a measure of objective reality, you can bet whatever you want, and pull random percents out of nowhere, and that will not be any close to actual thing.

But speaking on the topic, I'll say just this: as a person who got banned years ago after simply transferring a huge bunch of gold from one account to another (basically, splitting motif selling share with my friend): I perfectly understand whoever got banned for no reason in this thread. I perfectly understand their anger and all I can say is just this:

Curse ZOS and their stupid methods to restrict things, curse their automaton-methods of "nay lets just ban them all" and their incompetent approach to customers. Can't they take a little more damn effort into problem and just restrict moving survey maps between characters? Or disable it's banking altogether for a time being until it's all done properly?
And no, I don't have banker on my account. I stopped buying anything from Crown Store a long time ago since ZOS does not respect their customers at all, and I don't have desire to support their doings with my wallet.

They really didn't ban that many people for the zero-day item dupe at launch. But on the plus side, its nice to know that they actually do ban people for something other than interfering with a bunch of special snowflakes during their RP events and using certain words in zone chat.

It's comforting to know that ruining the economy is at least just as bad (in their eyes) as jumping around an RP even with your horse and dropping a nova on their slave auction. Those two things are both terrible of course. Oh the huge manatee.

Now if they expanded their moral horizons even further and actually started banning people for cheating in PvP, running the scroll for the enemy faction, and using lag-switches, that would be really something.

There are ways you can write to detect intentional network and packet manipulation but that is probably beyond that abilities of their "programming" team. Of course they could always just purchase some middleware that transfers all actions to the server and kills performance in PvP but oh wait....

you just saved me from a certain ban.

i routinely use the banker to move surveys to character in place to use them - having three enchanters maxed and two clothiers. it means one trip out to the boonies instead of multiple.

neer did the exploit and wouldn't if i had known but hey, thanks again.

BTW i dont have a banker nor have i been banned,im gonna take a guess and say theyre actually looking through our history with our character usage.

People are angry so they are going to lash out at any opposition right now. I wouldn't take it personal, i'm sure come tomorrow, when they read over their post, they will realize that first bit wasn't necessary and rude.

Also I already know more then 20 that have wrongfully been suspended. I have friends who are so strapped for mats all the time, who have almost nothing in their accounts that got the 72 hours ban hammer. I'm hoping come tomorrow this will be all cleared up.
