To each their own but I don't know what skooma you're sipping to prefer this over something as impressive looking as Black Desert. I can only comment from the outside as I only know what a friend has showed me but it looks leagues above this game (no offense ZoS).
My love for TES and being on console are the only reasons I play this game but if I were on pc I would likely prefer BDO or that other fancy looking flying mmo.

Black Desert Online is still the new flavor on the block. Also it is a different game altogether. ESO is based on a long running series of games that everyone loves and is familiar with.I had planned on purchasing BDO,and still might.
Impressive looking doesnt always mean great to play,or great storyline. For many people those two things are worth more than "pretty".

BDO is not about the story (imo). The combat and sandbox elements, especially crafting, are what makes that game special. I wish ESO had a similar combat style where you have to remember certain button combinations instead of 5 keys. Those limitations are the reason I get bored after a while playing ESO.

Quests are pretty much the same. However, fighting (some may call it grinding in BDO) is more enjoyable.

The big reason I login to ESO once a week are dungeons. They're fun and a good way to meet new people. Sadly, I've read that healers are not really required anymore with upcoming changes and unfortunately I love that role.
Still, I may sub again when Dark Brotherhood will be released.

To the OP, enjoy your time in Tamriel. Glad you tried the other game and not only bashed something without giving it a chance.

Love ESO! And agree with all those who speak about that special feeling. I've played two other MMOs for a long time and briefly tried a couple more, but this feeling in ESO is unique. Well, I also played Oblivion for the longest time and loved it. I was even a little bit afraid to try ESO after that, thought it might disappoint, but it didn't. And the longer I play the more I feel at home here. The scenery, the music, the voices, the dialogues, it's all so great! And the books, ofc. And the playing community is awsome, too.
