No CP Cap Increase?!?!

The CP cap is staying at 501? Really?!?! Again?!?! I though we were told we'd get at least 51 CP per DLC. Why the change ZOS. This totally ruins DB for me and many other Progression PvE'ers I know.

I was surprised too. I figured the new gear would be higher than 160 as well. So yet another VR16 set. I dont know better have some nice stuff on it for me to bother with it. Hopefully shortly after launch they up the cap and not wait for the next DLC.

We all knew there'd be no cap increase a while back.

I'm more interested to see there's nothing above 160 for gear yet, I sort of assumed 180 might happen.

Yeah in an ESO live they said they where going to increase it, i'm extremely confused as of why at this rate it will take over 10 years to get them all.

Pretty sure they said they "might" not "would". I could be wrong, but I did not expect one, and I warned everyone in my guild there wouldn't be one.

It seems the average players number of champion points havnt gone up too much, So yea.

Well I hope they aren't including in the average my 2nd account on the EU server which I was just using as storage overspill and has 0 champion points (just a couple of level 3 characters) and that I will never ever play and never gain any CP on. (I play characters on that account on the NA server).

EDIT: Or the numerous people I know who played shortly after beta for a while but have never got to the point of having a vet ranked character. If those accounts are included in their calculation of "average" CP per account, then those of us who play regularly will never see any character progression again.

ZOS - had you considered a faster catchup mechanism for returning/new/occasional players rather than a harsh cap for your most ardent fans? Carrot instead of stick?

I have another question: How will I be able to gain XP at Champion Rank ~550 with this in place:
Experience gain rules will continue to function as they did for Veteran Ranks:

Mobs 40 Champion Points below your level will grant 75% of their normal XP.
Mobs 50 or more Champion Points below your level will grant 30% of their normal XP.
Will monsters anywhere scale to my Champion Rank (550)? :O

That is actually a very good question, looks like no kill xp at all for some of us.

EDIT: No seriously, if I'm not going to be advancing any of my characters at all from here on out, why on earth am I paying a sub for this game? I should go off and play something else for 6/12/18 months until I get character progression in ESO again.

Champion Ranks beyond the cap already require a lot more XP per rank, and then only 30% XP from monster kills on top of that? >< That can't be >< Certainly need a full set of the new training trait then :)

    Edit: Corrected a typo.

You're right, I was reading it wrong (and kind of extrapolating that stuff more than 50 points below would grant no xp), the words "or more" makes some difference.

Still annoyed that I won't be getting full value of xp from doing Cadwell's Gold/Silver on characters that are still progressing through it that are currently at appropriate level for the zones they are working through, just because I have reached the CP cap. I feel like I'm being short-changed in terms of xp for any combat, compared to how it is now.

Well, that gives me the time to get the last few CP to immediately fill the 102 CP increase that comes with Q3 update. Oh wait, I'm beyond that if I include the 40 CP they give to us on DB release.

We do get at least 102 points added in the next DLC, right, @ZOS_RichLambert?

Yes, they should give people like you a better catchup mechanism, so that the time you spend in game is very productive in terms of CP gain. NOT hold back people indefinitely just because you can't play much.

Thats great, game isn't going anywhere so you can experience it at your own pace, but those of us who have spent the time would like some character progression. And it's been over a year since CP released, even the most casual people I play with are over the cap.

"Motivated casual players", which by that very definition is opposite of the very definition of a 'casual player'... not saying they're not motivated, but in your usage you are saying "players who put in a lot of play time in order to progress" which is not what casual players are about.

Let me re-interpret what you're actually saying... 'players that play a lot should be rewarded while players that have little time to play should be penalized'.
