Crafting Bag Exclusivity

Crafting Bags should stay ESO+ only. It should not be available for purchase from the Crown Store. (I am not an ESO+ member)
Mmorpg some years ago were a lot more entertaining because there was more work put onto them.
More work requires money. Active accounts with compulsory monthly subscriptions produced money for new content every year. Expancions or Chronicles with serious cap increase, new skills and even Class evolution. New map areas new world bosses new gear tiers and new activities.

Now since ppl don't pay for subscriptions we have vanity stores. Instead of more content we get useless stuff.

Crafting bags were smthg that u never had and you can do without them. Stop asking more for less money. You make games worse every year.

Lol, I just saw this in someone else's reply...

"The results of this poll will determine just how out of touch/elitist "sub vs non-sub" these forums are compared to the actual in-game playerbase. Judging from the vMA completion poll, my guess is the first option will be the most popular. We shall see :)"

Guess it was part of the OP and you edited it out @Doncellius. So, having a grown-up understanding of business and a real world expectation that a company must earn profits makes gamers elitist? Can't help but sit in awe at the forums and the ignorance and entitlement of some posters.

But, just for arguments sake, lets say players agree with you that crafting bags should be put up for sale in the crown store, and ZOS lists them for 5k tel var stones, or more. I can only imagine you would then whine they are too expensive and call ZOS greedy and call out anyone who pays for it as an elitist pay-to-win expletive.

Edited what out? I usually only edit for spelling mistakes since it is more difficult to see typos when typing from an iPhone.

Sorry to ruin your entire point, but you should go to the first page. It's one of the first comments :)

EDIT: You're awefully eager to shoot me down for some reason. Smh. You named yourself after advice you need to take for yourself. You could have easily answered the unbiased poll and stated your opinion. Instead, you attack me as much as you can, without even reading through previous comments.

Fair enough, I see it is a reply in a lower post. Forgive me for not reading thru all of your BS. It is an ignorant post. Guess I am programmed to overlook non-sense.

As for your claim that your poll is unbiased... If it were unbiased, you would not have the caveat in the first couple options that "I am an ESO+ Member". This implies that only a subscriber would agree with this. In reality, I am sure most mature adults agree with it, even if not subscribers; if not agree with it or like it, then certainly understand it. ZOS is a company and they must make money. There is nothing wrong with offering subs a quality perk, and in MMOs it is hard to offer perks that do not fringe upon P2W; crafting bags are a reasonable offer to subs.

Look, I agree that inventory management in this game is a nightmare. The tendency for ZOS to make sets BoP in recent DLCs has certainly compounded the problem since we are now forced to horde as we never know when sets will get buffed or nerfed and, because the RNG rates in this game are atrocious, we cannot be assured we can replace said sets in a reasonable time-frame. The devs really need to do something about the BoP system and inventory management as a whole. As is, most players are forced to create mules, but those of use that actively play all our characters cannot rely on mules. I am forced to create a guild just to use as a personal bank for an extra 500 slots. Who knows, maybe keeping inventory space small and the prevalence of mules is part of their stragety to sell new character slots. I agree that inventory management needs to be addressed, and even that it would be nice for crafting bags to be available to all.

However, your polled is biased, and as such, I completely disregarded any relevance it may have. There are more tactful ways to discuss issues. Furthermore, you claims that anyone who sides one way is an elitist that is out of touch with the gaming community is absurd and completely skews you as someone incapable of a rational thought or grown-up discussion.

Your jumbling everything together. Relax a bit! Lol.

When you see ESO+ member or not an ESO+ member for two separate options, it means the same thing.

It serves solely to distinguish those who are Subbed to those who aren't. I did this because I took an educated guess that most Subs were going to say yes. The second option allows Non-Subs to be recognized as well for picking Yes. Because of this, you can tell how many Subs compared to non-Subs chose Yes, an interesting thing to look at.

This all doesn't matter. poll answers should have been:
    1. Yes
    2. No
    3. i don't mind

Maybe it's interesting whether the guys are subbed or not, but i can choose everything i want. Even if it#s the false option. So it's just a useless and maybe even false information.

People feel strongly on this topic. You won't get many of the trolls picking random answers. When I created this thread, it served as a poll version of the discussion on this topic (other thread). The toxicity coming from this thread makes me ashamed to have joined these forums, which are unbelievably detatched from the actual in-game opinions right now.

Wish I could lock this thread and pretend I hadn't heard about Crafting Bags yet.

You open a thread with your opinion stated thus:-

"If you need a crafting bag it's essentially "screw your past purchases pay us $15 a month starting now or gtfo" if you aren't subbed/have already purchased the DLCs separatedly (since you would be crazy to sub after purchasing Crowns/DLC already)."

Then you complain about the toxicity on the forums? You set the tone.

Yep. Everyone I have talked to in game about this topic thinks it is a great idea to add incentive to the sub, too. Which is a steady stream of incoming income for ZOS and the game.

But so is income from people buying those DLCs - it is not as if they would not contribute.

No, of course not. They are absolutely contributing to the upkeep of the game too.

But a sub to Zenimax is $15 of predictable and projectable income that they can use to see how the game is doing financially. They can't predict how much a person is going to spend in the Crown Store.

@Aimora and @JD2013 the difference is @Doncellius has his platform listed as PS4 and you both have your platform listed at PC.

Im not surprised whatsoever that PC who started with subs and Console who started with B2P are coming from different perspectives.

Once again this is why ZoS really needs to make clear which user plays what platform when they post, it helps femove confusion.

Well, if they could not do that, they would be a quite bad business. They have the numbers and they can say, what amount of people will probably buy a certain DLC - or at least they should be able to. Businesses are not run blindly, but they use data of all kind, to predict their future profits.

I wouldn't mind if they sold it in the crown store. But if you consider how much they sold remote bank access and a vendor for, I'm not sure I would want to see the price tag they put on this.

Agree to disagree, especially when it comes to random buys, people waiting for sales etc. I know people who have purchased Orsinium for example and not Thieves Guild.

But the fact is, it is a nice thing for subscribers. We have been managing our inventories for this long, so it is not an absolute necessity.

I'm amazed that with all of the anti-p2w hubabaloo that goes around that people would want this crafting bag to stay for subscribers only. This is a huge quality of life mechanic that can directly translate into saved time and earned gold as people who have it wont have to switch between alts for mats.

Additionally this bag creates a perverse incentive that will make people feel as though they have to subscribe out of the direct challenge that will occur when unsubscribing via losing the extra bag space.

Like paying double?- Why would you want to unsubscribe while you are playing the game - the subscription becomes more and more valuable over time due to more DLCs, which you do not have to buy to use them. So you cheat yourself with subscribing and buying the DLCs - you will most likely never unsubscribe, as long as you play - there will always be the next DLC, which you want to play as well. And if you stop playing, you will not make use of your bought DLCs - this is not different from when you would not have bought them and subbed. When you stop playing you loose the game content - that you own it is irrelevant, because you are no longer playing then.

I save a lot of money by purchasing the DLC with crowns. That way I can unsubscribe when I want, for example right now I am not subscribed as I am not happy with some current state of affairs, but I can still join my friends in places like the Imperial City Prison or Maw of Lork'haj without having to resub. Otherwise, what exactly of top importance am I spending my crowns on?

I think the unlimited bags should remain an eso+ exclusive to increase interest, and value, in having a sub. However, after a little bit, they should make a smaller limited version of the bag on the crown store for people to purchase.

Then the unlimited remains an eso+ perk and a solid value to the sub, but others who can't or don't want to sub can still get some inventory. (Although with character slots coming, that is essentially buying more inventory space on the crown store).

Thankfully this poll only exposes people who want something who aren't entitled to it, and won't actually influence ZOS to alter their original plan.

People who want to be able to buy it off the Crown Store are missing the point entirely. Typical.

The prices are completely relative. That's for ZOS to decide.

The sub vs non-sub problem you present is a non issue since the bags are completely separate and independent of one another.

The prices are more realistic than what was posted in the post I replied to.

As for the bags being separate and independent then same thing, higher cost because it requires additional development to add the second type of bag.

The results of this poll will determine just how out of touch/elitist "sub vs non-sub" these forums are compared to the actual in-game playerbase. Judging from the vMA completion poll, my guess is the first option will be the most popular. We shall see :)

It is definitely not limited to this game but the MMO sphere in general. Subs have catastrophically failed to support MMO's across the industry with only a handful of exceptions(perhaps less). Yet it is the subs who never fail to accuse, belittle and degrade a large portion of a game's playerbase as if they somehow contribute less. We usually pay a premium for flexibility, and that is why we have chosen to support and spend on games like ESO, but apparently that is not enough. Apparently many feel that their value as an ESO+ subscriber would be less if the rest of us could buy this great feature. They would still get the feature included in their monthly sub along with all the other benefits but they would not feel as special if others could buy access. I have spent the last 10 hours trying to determine a better reason although at this point I'm ready to chalk it up to elitist ***. I might be over-generalizing, but I think that it may be the #1 reason to what is driving such resistance against this feature going in the crown store.

It's been proven time and time again that the F2P or B2P model can and in some cases does provide a larger income. But it's inconsistent as hell. Where as subs you may or may not get less money than a B2P/F2P system, but you know almost exactly how much money you are getting each month. But having a sub system requires you to have more players than a F2P/B2P system would require to potentially make the same amount. Subs also make it easier for a game company to plan projects since they have to pay and possibly hire people for these projects. If the income is all over the place it makes it harder since you don't know if next month is going to meet the quota for whats needed.

Also, they have done test on how many of B2P/F2P player base actually pays money to the game. It's like less than 50%. But those who do buy things off the store normally pay more than what a sub does so it some what makes up for those who pay nothing.

It's a perk for subscribing and supporting the game. If you want to get the crafting bags, then you have the option of subscribing as well. Currently their perks for subscription were pretty lackluster and hopefully this will give others the incentive to subsribe. If they just offer it on the crown store, you have pretty much taken away any of that incentive.

Crafting Bags should remain freely accessible to ESO+ members, but also be put up for sale on the Crown Store. Similar to DLC.

This bit is very interesting as it is an opinion not a fact (which it seems to are attempting to project it as) as my perception and interaction is very different from yours - as stated previously many of my friends and guild members welcome this and think it is a good idea to prolong the financing of the game.

It's really not. There's no 12 month commitment like subscriptions to other services require. Players can cancel whenever they like. I go back and forth between ESO, SWTOR, and FFXIV, regularly cancelling and resubbing to each throughout the year, never subbing to more than one game at a time. Subscription income is no more predictable and projectable than Crown Store additions.

ESO+ has little use already, some more use is in order to justify paying a monthly fee.

I fully agree. If the crafting bags meet my expecations (which are entirely based on what Matt Frior said), I'll strongly consider re-subscribing. If not, I'll carry on mostly playing for free and subscribing just long enough to get the crowns to buy each expansion.

As someone said before, there should be some perks for subscribing. I don't subscribe, but I dont see an issue if someone who subs gets a free crafted bag of unlimited because they sub.

Its not game breaking, I think it is a great idea to entice people to sub.

And I would like to add I am an ESO+ member as you didn't give us the option to choose for this selection.

While some come and go with a monthly subscription as you do, others subscribe for multiple months at a time at least in part to get the discount, and all subscriptions are counted as recurring until they are cancelled. A good many players doubtless subscribe to more than one game at a time, as I do.

First, I'm really glad ZOS is now including this Crafting Bags feature that can alleviate inventory management pains. It's definitely a step in the right direction.

However, I do think all players should have the option to either get Crafting Bags via subscription or direct purchase from the Crown Store (~$30). That way folks that have to take a break from the game due to real life stuff can drop their subs and not have to play the inventory management game afterwards (e.g. mule alts). This might help the in game economy as well, assuming more people will have access to the Crafting Bags if both options exist, which means they can store and therefore sell more stuff (instead of tossing stuff due to limited inventory space).

ZOS would still profit if it gave players both options. In general, giving players more options and flexibility to enjoy ESO on their own terms is a very good thing.
