I would really encourage anyone who doesn't understand what exactly is done to research this, and to research the potential side effect and how likely they really are.
On the "Feral" side, we have a rescue kitty, and unlike any cat I've ever had, she truly is not tame. It is like having a wild animal in the house. Adorable, but you learn fast to respect her space.
You guys would be shocked how many cheetahs that are pets are declawed. I personally wouldn't do it to any animal. I'm against even the whole tail docking on dogs.
But cause cheetahs can't retract their claws like the rest of the cats they tend to be declawed when they are kept as a pet.
Also to add cheetahs are becoming a more regulated species for pets in SA due to them becoming an endangered species.
Lastly I'll add that I actually had to take my dog to have her dew claws removed because she loves playing rough and ends up scratching someone till they bleed. We tried to train her out of it, but she's a pretty stubborn little girl. I hated that we had to remove them, but sometimes those kind of proccedures are needed. Specially if you know that none of the harm the pet caused is intentional. They just can't help it.
yes, I don't mind it, I would even have enough rats for it to hunt. My snake is as well not eating any dead stuff, it needs it's food still somewhat alive when it swallows it whole. That is just how those animals are, but I do not think it is cute, but natural.
Imagine something higher up the food chain than Humanity. Imagine it still needing us somewhat alive when it swallows us whole.
Isn't Nature fun to think about?
So what you think us humans are such special snowflakes and that any other creature but us is just cannon fodder? Right...

I'm not sure what you meant by me thinking we're special snowflakes, but other creatures are pretty much cannon fodder now because of our understanding to create weapons and our ability to use them. I was just jokingly making a point about the rat most likely experiencing sheer terror during it's last moments being swallowed by a predator, like how you or I would undoubtedly feel put in that position.
If the teeth don't do the work, then it'll be a slow death as you experience the futility of your fate, being pulled further into an inescapable confine of flesh, steadily choking on the lack of air. But hey at least you'll die of asphyxiation before you're being being broken down by acid.
...I'm not entirely sure why I decided to talk about this in a thread about cute Khajiit meme's.

yeah, a caracal, my favorite cat.
Edit: and yes, they indeed exist where I live at. Breeders here even cross-breed them with house cats and sell the 1st generation cross-breed for about 8,000 US dollars. As far as I know, 1st generation cross-breeds were banned in a lot of US states though.

They fall in to the category of exotic pets and vary state to state in the USA.
Any see in the news the young tiger they found roaming a neighborhood on Texas? Lol wtf is wrong with people
Just for interest sake there are many people in the world who has domesticated wild cats as pets and even if this sounds a bit on the cruel side there are medical procedures to have the claws and fangs removed.
In south africa there is a lot of wild life enthusiasts who has not only cross breed caracals, but also lions, leopards and cheetahs as household pets. It takes a lot more care and training to get the wild out of them, but these cats are usually breed and raiised in captivity.
To add on the comment bout things eating other things alive. For those who think themselves so grand for eating only veggies, when you pick a fruit or harvest vegetables those plants are still alive and stay alive until rot sets in. So, you aren't much better than the rest of us. Science has proven that plants do feel and bleed just like any other living thing.
I would never take their eating fangs or their scratching claws from them. That's just mutilation.
Sorry, dont seem to sound upset.I'm not.Just stating that to remove such things is wrong. If you want one of those breeds, have one that was bred and raised in captivity.,They dont know killing.
Same, I would not take their claws or fangs. I had the opportunity to visit and be with that caracal mixed-breed, an adult animal. In essence they are not that different from normal cats, wilder in a way and more energetic, but that is not that different from having a wolf instead of a dog. As long as they are neither hungry nor pestered, you can get along with them. In fact that is not much different from how I react, if I am hungry or pestered. Basically it is vital to know, when they want to be left alone. Why would a caracal want to bite or claw, if it is treated well, not afraid and not hungry?- I see no reason for that.
Edit.: as far as they don't know killing goes, that is an instinct. When you have a kitten of any cat race, it will sooner or later start to hunt birds and mice. It does not need to learn this, it will do it on it's own. You can try to "teach" it to not do it, but you turn your eyes off them, and they will do it - it is their natural instinct. They do that as well if they are not hungry at all.
Edit: the ban is not in all US states, as far as I know, and it is only for 1st generation cross-breeds, the 2nd generation is not effected.

True, about the instincts. I was thinking more on a larger scale for the bigger cat. Cats will go after mice, and birds.yes, but they wont go after your kids.A larger cat wont go for your toddlers if they are happy and fed.Their instincts stay rather dormant.

Well, it started out as a joke and it immediately turned into something negative again... I mean who would have thought that you are not supposed to have wild cats as pets, it is very uncommon knowledge! xD
This has nothing to do with ESO, but as long as you guys are happy then I am too xD.

I don't think this is as negative thread. We love cats, but an animal has to be taken as it is, for it's own and it's owners good. Just showing a few cute pictures of wild cats is somewhat dangerous, because it might cause others to buy such a cat without to have the knowledge to keep it in a safe way. And so I shared what I know about caracals - which is my favorite cat race and you showed a caracal. So this came immediately to my mind, that just thinking "oh how cute" might lead to something what is not good - not for the cat, not for the owner - like that example showed, what I have described.
Sorry, if you feel, we would have hijacked it.

Well I guess it is my fault again for thinking humans cant be that stupid as to realize they should protect wild animals and not use them as pets but then again, seeing humanity as it is ;___;... not a good sight.
