I am so tired of running behind my raid, watching everyone race off into the distance to the next keep on mounts while myself and the other healer trots behind on foot waiting to get ganked because we are stuck "in battle". I get the impression this is caused by active HOTs, but I have been stuck in "battle" and running after my raid for far longer than my HOTs would be able to tick.

Is there any way to get this to break? Any secret I'm unaware of? OR can we fix this?

Actually laughed when I read this title, been in the game so long I think of it as a "Feature", don't think this issue is ever going away, you are flogging a dead horse.

You can break it by killing.

Another player, a wolf, etc. It's not frequently available as a horse cc break but there you have it.

The corollary to this rule is that if you attack something and don't kill it you will be horseless for some amount of time.

I think ZoS coded it this way so that griefing could be a thing. Although it doesn't happen as much now, the most common scenario would be that you engage with a sorc and the sorc streaks away. Get your 1-2 minute timer out. Don't get comfortable with the timer though, after the sorc heals and regens they come back to make sure it's a long, long walk.

It's a dead horse that requires flogging. How is it an acceptable feature of the game? As a healer I am not generally damaging many people, yet I am penalized. Practiced PVPers are aware of this and capitalize on it. Yet, even after death we have this issue. It's bad design.

Until your dot's and hot's expire you are still in combat and can't mount up. Since dot's are shorter then hot's, and dot's also end when the target dies, healers stay in combat longer.

Exactly. And while I get why DOTs on enemies would keep you in combat, HOTs on friendlies should not. That's what's broken, and needs to be fixed.

It's not a matter of hots or dot still being active , I am Temp DD with only BOL for self heals and I get stuck in combat for 1-2 minutes while others mount and ride away in nearly every engagement I take part in. As someone pointed out its a matter of damaging someone but not having the kill count for you.

Not true! I can swing my sword at one of the 1 HP animals in the game like deer or rabbit. I use Disease glyphs on my sword, and when I swing, hit, and kill one I am STILL stuck in limbo. The mob is dead. It died instantly. So why the heck am I unable to loot a nearby node, or instantly mount my Guar?

That is another bug that is outside the normal dot/hot bug.
