Why is this game rated M for "blood and gore"?

Well, the fact this game is rated M and all the female toons have to wear male armor... I'd say the devs are from Saudi Arabia. Or possibly North Carolina lawmakers.

HEY!!! Hey HEY now... Wait just a second there bub!

As NC born and bred... you get an awesome for that!

Every time i hear "NC" on national news I cringe."

But really i think why the game gets an M is bogus studies in the last millennia that somehow linked violent video games to small pox, crumbling infrastructure, institutional racism, economic imbalance, poor medical care, sadly down-trending education, soaring drop out rates and like decades of DECLINE in violent crime rates helped lawmakers and concerned "seem to do-gooders" to push for really bizarre priorities as to what problems to fix and how to fix them.

After that step, nothing should be surprising.

There's some fun sexual, bisexual, homosexual, & pansexual stories and quests... its certainly mature, but that might count as more intellectual content since you usually have to read to get it.

    ;)

SHHHHHHHH...... i play the game from NC so lets keep this aspect underwraps, k?

Pretty sure it is the skeletons and flesh atronachs just like it was when Oblivion (zombie flesh, etc) was forced to change from a T to an M.

They need to own that M rating and make it a bit more bloody.

my 3 year old son likes to take my v16 tank (aka the "good knight") around lvl 20ish deshaan and kill netches (aka octopus).

no need for the blood, guts, and boobs really...
Sooo... because you do not follow the rules about who this game is marked suitably for, you think the game should adjust? What's next? Demanding that all liquor be non-alcoholic because you let your kids drink it as they like the funny bottles? Demand all movies be made in child-safe versions so you can take your kid to watch "Deadpool"? Demand all TV be filled with disney movies so you no longer have to worry about, you know, parental responsibility?

The rating is "M", and that means something in legal terms.
As in "Don't let kids there, its for grown ups"
Thus this argument is not just invalid, but actively silly...

Personally I do not like it when people tell me I cannot have a steak because a baby cannot chew it. And I really do not like how much the game industry is holding out on catering to those people who think that way...

Blood and gore used -right- can add to the immersion. So can the occasional naughtyness. Yes, it can be overused - when they put in more gory or naughty scenes where they make no sense, plot-wise... (example: Spartacus-Blood&Sand), but done right, where it fits the plot at hand, it really makes the whole experience better (example: Game of Thrones).

But as mentioned, I for one would pay extra for this if it was a DLC... then only those who felt it desirable would pay and have those features, and the rest... could keep carrying on as they choose.

I come from Age of Conan with its bouncing bare boobs and absolutely fantastic "fatalities" my favorite of which remains the one where your character shoves their sword through an opponent's chest and then literally plants their boot on them and kicks their corpse off your blade. None of it offends me. I realllly wish ESO would up the ante on the maturity levels here.

due to pvp lag been playing a mod'd Skyrim again and coming back to ESO with no HDT jiggle is a let down lol
    OP, I have no idea!!!
If it was more sexy like the sykrim modders have done or like BDO then I would consider it as mature...

I'd love for ESO to have nude addons as a part of the game. I wonder if ZOS had their 64 bit glitch on purpose:

Again I would like to state again some seem to overlook for the rating. Zone chat.

Online interactions arn't rated by the ESRB though. And the swear filter is set on by default

swear filter? what swear filter? I have never turned a swear filter off??

    but i dindt know that.

What the OP failed to mention is it is also rated M for alcohol and violence

What I meant with this thread is that the violence in the game is so minimal, it shouldn't be M. No blood spaltters on the ground or walls.
