Not everybody makes a good thief

dominic.iraceb14_ESO
Since i have actually lost money since I've started the thieves guild DLC, a bulky tank with heavy armor (or maybe it's just my skills/timing) don't make for a good thief.

I need to make up for lost gold.. ..and quickly! I'm currently selling everything I obtain or steal.. but what repeatable quests pay more?, Heists or the daily tip board? I see that Heists are shareable, and the word heist actually means "a high profit crime", but I don't seem to be making squat. I'd be happy if i could make at least 10K over a few hours?..

Repeatable quests are not going to get you rich.

The reward from the heist is a bag, typically has about 400-600gp worth of loot in it. If you finish in time, which sounds like you don't, you get a set piece, so you aren't gonna be making much money off that anyway.

Sometimes I will just go through a few towns and steal everything (I typically avoid baskets and bags (mostly provisioning food stuff) cuz that stuff is worth like 1 gp each, but 3 pickpockets off one easy mark could net you almost 1K if you get lucky.

Wardrobes, dressers, etc will have your good stuff.

Make sure you have your clemency up and available though, you don't wanna get caught by accident with full bags.

OP kudos for playing as a tank, however it doesn't make any big difference in stealing.

Sneak when you steal, make sure you are hidden - steal items worth 100g or above that only.
If you see items for crafting or recipes, if they are worth anything on your server, then steal and launder them, to sell to players for high profit.

If you can't crouch and sneak, then go pick flowers and raw materials to sell to other players for profit.

There are so many places in the game to steal from where there are no NPCs or the NPCs are easily avoidable that it does not matter how clumsy you are, you will be successful with just a passing interest in your surrounds.

Find one of those places, and loot until your bags are full, then Fence. Rinse repeat up to the daily limit.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

My go-to spot was that little island north central of stonefalls, forget name. Just north of wayshrine and down stairs is a little storehouse you can loot from freely.

The basements of the mages and fighters guild here are pretty easy to clean out but there are NPCs in these spots but a good place to learn to be careful.

I had similar problems with my heavy armor tank and found that switching to medium armor for this content helped. I still suck at thieving but not quite as badly.

It is true that not everyone excels at certain things as well as others, but honestly gear does not gimp your stealth. Medium Armor just helps it is all.

Spencer Rye's Dailies do not require stealth. They are sheer adventure quests with no thievery requirements whatsoever.

Heists are a joke. True Thieves can accomplish these flawlessly, even if it takes a few tries, but the rewards are not worth it. 1 piece of equipment from the Syvarra's Scales set and either 10 White Laundered Treasures (2 sets of 5) or 5 of them and a purple edict that knocks off up to 2k bounty... Yeah after the 15th Heist for achievements they are no longer worth doing.

The tip board requires Pickpocketing and Safebox looting. Pickpocketing can be risky regardless but some Safeboxes are out of detection for even amateur sneak thieves. Beyond those The Covetess Countess requests 3 of a certain type of laundered treasure (I give her Whites). I am working on a guide for this and will post one soon but it is easily the most farmable repeatable out there.

Despite which one you take though the reward gold is no more than 302 per quest completed. You can make far more fencing stolen goods... but you do sometimes get 10 Green Laundered Treasures as a reward from tip board quests which makes for an extra 1k profit.

The guide for Covetess Countess should be easy, just make sure you have 3 of each type of item in your bags (tools, devices, medical supplies). Once you get the quest, it auto updates to completion because for some reason it recognizes those 3 items in your inventory as clean, not requiring you to do anything but wayshrine somewhere and back. I can sit in front of the tipboard and just keep deleting the quest until I get one of these, then just one round trip and it is turned in.

You can literally do the 30 required for the achievement in less than a day if you have the items in your bags already.

The guide will include what she asks for by the location you will find her in as well as a translation because the quest says one thing but the actual item is labeled another way. The purpose of the guide will be to let people know what whites to keep a bit of and what not to keep since there are so many and some totally useless to the quest.

For those who haven't been doing it yet it will be a good heads up for them lol

Covetous Countess seems to glitch on me a lot, where her arrow pops up but she isn't there. Old bug with a lot of quests seems to have cropped up here as well. I avoid this quest now.

Get Light Fingers and Trafficker from Legerdemain, and Haggling from TG skill line.

The Heist and Spencer Rye's retrieval quests can net you 1-2k Gold, then after that keep doing Tip Board Quests until you sold 140 items to the fence.

On avg, you can make about 30k gold per day :p

Check to make sure you went to the right zone. She has a quest for all 5 zones of your faction. This was the mistake I made because I saw the marker even though she wasn't actually there because for some reason the marker is in all 5 spots or so regardless of where it tells you to find her, thus leading to confusion.

I'm currently selling everything I obtain or steal..

This sounds like your problem. Be more selective about what you sell, since you can only sell x amount of items per day, and destroy the crap stuff.

-edit *This is in reference to stolen items only... Nonstolen sell all.

There's more to the Thieves Guild DLC than just making gold ... though if your sole purpose is just to make gold I echo the other posters' comments here.

Understand your sentiment, however, OP. My magicka Templar main is a dedicated healer ... so trying to be a sneaky thief is borderline laughable.

Every time my character stops by the Thieves Guild hideout, she gets all sorts of looks from the guild members, the Guildmaster, fences ... mostly a "what brought this to town and is this really a fellow Thieves Guild member?"
