What if...
When you die, it wasn't a bug/hack/exploit/macro?
I believe there is an element of toxicity to the ESO community, and it has to do with the fact that no one seems willing to be introspective about shortcomings in their gameplay (whether they were killed in Cyrodiil, can't clear vMA, or got Zerged). The automatic assumption (in PVP) is that someone MUST have been cheating.
Now, understand...I have the technical expertise of a turtle. I've gotten angry tells accusing me of everything from macros to exploits to hacks. Constantly. All because I can animation cancel well. That said, bugs, hacks, exploits, and macros exist. Absolutely, they do. But if I had a doughnut every time someone cried exploit, when there was no exploit...I would be quite obese. In fact, dead-- of obesity.
Because of this seemingly wide spread attitude, I believe we're actually making it harder for ZOS to address the problems in game that DO exist. It's a classic tale of the Boy Who Cried Exploit!
What if...we as a community, when confronted with our own mortality on the fields of Cyrodiil, examined the facts, accounted for lag, analyzed our mistakes, and gave players the benefit of the doubt, BEFORE evaluating whether the enemy could be cheating? The truth is...most players do not cheat. Even fewer intentionally. Screaming that every player who uses Shuffle (
for example
) is an exploiter does nothing for the community, nothing for getting things fixed, and nothing for the amazing gameplay experience that we all hope ESO can be. I think there is value in bringing positivity, constructive criticism, a clear head, and an open mind to the forums, instead of the inverse.
