Test it with weapon damage before/after casting. Chances are it's not the major brutality thats stacking, its the rally heal buff and the secondary buff for igneous weapons (major sorcery/spellpower).

I know that with igneous weapons, even though it says it grants both major sorcery and major brutality (and it does increase both spell and weapon damage when used), only the major brutality icon shows up under character buffs. You still get major sorcery, but it's folded into the same buff icon that says major brutality. So here, I"m thinking that you're getting the rally heal over time + major brutality, and igneous weapons is just giving you major sorcery.

Does the actual damage you deal increase with the second major, sometimes the character sheets aren't correct but the damage dealt is still as it should be

Could it have been the minor damage buff from casting an ability? I forget which tree it's in, but iirc you get 25% buff from ingeous weaps because of the passive giving minor as well, a 5% DMG buff to weapon damage.

If you test these things, do it outside of battlescaled maps - to avoid pvp buffs, bugged ui etc.
