Group disbanded mid-dungeon, got auto-kicked. Can ZOS implement something to prevent this?

Used Activity Finder, got sent to Blackheart Haven.

Middle of Blackheart Haven, the leader for whatever reason disbanded the group mid-fight. Under normal circumstances, I'd simply invite one of the other guys to a group so we wouldn't get kicked out of the dungeon. Due to this being right in the middle of a fight, I was unable to do this before the timer expired and all of us were violently ejected back to where we came from.

Seriously? Why is this even allowed?

There should be a rule where, if someone uses Activity Finder and is selected as leader (or is promoted to leader mid-activity), they should be prevented from disbanding the group until the activity is complete. There is literally no reason anyone would want to do this other than for the explicit purpose of annoying other people. If they don't like the group they got matchmade with, they should just leave like a normal person.

EDIT: Exact same thing just happened in Elden Hollow.

Even more bad news - as far as I know(as in last time I checked), if your group is disbanded, making a new one while still within the instance in question will NOT let you stay in the instance. You will still get kicked.

That aside, you have a point. If you don't like the group or suddenly have to run you can simply leave, disbanding the group literally means no one gets a shoot at the activity. Which is fine if you're playing with friends and just want to regroup asap or something but less so with a stranger in groupfinder.

That's awful. So basically, whoever is the leader has the power to ruin everything for the rest of the group? I can definitely imagine a troll helping players get to the end of a dungeon, then disbanding the group during or immediately after the final boss fight.

It is. On the good side if you can find one other person to run with in your group it pretty much guarantees that you will be the group leader.

I know it isnt an answer but it is all we have for now.

That would be quite evil indeed lol. Can't imagine (m)any people doing that though, that's quite a lot of effort just to troll someone. Wasting ~half an hour on a dungeon with random people and leaving both them and himself without the chance of final loot(final bosses of vet dungeons can drop monster helms, and both nonvet and vet dungeon bosses can drop Willpower/Agility/Endurance set items - with low chance, but still; plus when people do (re)run dungeon it's usually either for pledge or random dungeon daily, neither of which will count without killing the last boss)...can't imagine that'd be worth it.

That aside, there's always the option of running strictly with friends/guildmates/people you otherwise know. Or you could avoid groupfinder altogether and start a pug using zchat - that way you'd have lead.
Generally I only pug when I'm feeling chilled out enough for the worst outcome possible and don't mind laughing at it if it gets there. Can still meet fun people and run into great players there though, just don't count on that every time :)

How right you are, I am BE669, I have gone through a few dungeons with the exact happening as you went through. The person that just up and left the group, right in the middle or even towards the near end, well we all know exactley what we would say about that person up and leaving the group, before coming to the major monster kill.

I really hope some positive improvements get made to the Activity Finder in the next release. A friend of mine almost gave up on ESO altogether after an almighty rage quit brought about by some a$$hat repeatedly kicking him from a group he was being paired with (he was vet14 at the time so no real strength based reason to kick him). Supposedly the final straw was when the same a$$hat did the same thing in a different Vet dungeon later on the same night.

Luckily, after some heavy sedation (beer), the rage subsided and now he still logs in to eso.

Honestly, if people want to be that fussy about their groups they should form their grouping privately, not using the Finder tool. How hard would it be for the tool to be changed to only allow 3 kicks per grouping and if an individual is kicked from a group 3 times in a row, for it to rotate their queue to a different group instead of the same one as before?

    Anyway rant over…

Be VERY happy: at least you get into a dungeon.
    I do not.

Don't worry, will only happen for the next few days. From the pts patch notes
Leaders of groups formed through the Grouping Tool can no longer disband the group or remove other group members.

Roll a healer, or better yet, a tank.
As DD, expect long waits, or PUG a group in zone, or join a guild and ask there.

Not quite the the same issue, but, one thing that happened to me is, as soon as the group finished Elder Hollow, everyone left and I was kicked out of the dungeon, and was unable to turn in the quest. So I go back in to turn it in, all by myself this time, and, surprise surprise, the QUEST RESET BACK TO THE BEGINNING! Not the dungeon, the quest! *** damnit ZoS, WHY?

P.S Same thing happened in Darkshade Caverns

Yeah, it's really hard to ask your group members if they can stay in group for 1 more minute so you can hand in the quest.
I wouldn't call this an issue with zos, it's just a lack of communication on your end. From my experience 99% of the time there will be at least one person in your group that will stay.
And if dungeons don't reset right away when you dispand the group, it will be very anoying for everyone who wants to run the same dungeon or trial multiple times in a row.

So, I am FORCED to play something I do not like to get into a dungeon?

You necro a thread and are to lazy to read the patch notes for DB?

Crown will no longer have the power to kick with GF groups. It'll be by vote.

Have always wondered how people play a game, have such great concerns yet pay no attention to communication from the developers.

Yes, it is quite frustrating.Tried the dungeons a few times and each kept crashing as well for me. Those who keep on completing it must either have little or no issue with the crashing or they have a lot more patience.

No... I gave you several alternatives. There's 100 DDs for every healer or tank, it's obvious you're going to have a harder time getting a random group as DD. So get in a guild or start adding healers/tanks to your buddy list so you can check with them when you want to go in a dungeon. Other than that maybe you should try healing or taking. It's really quite fun. I have 4 fully leveled/geared characters, 2 are DD, 1 is a healer and 1 is a tank. All are fun to play and people come to me when they need any of the roles.
