Character / Account Names

So who had the brilliant idea to use account names for the group overview, healthbars etc but then use (as it should be) the character name for chat? How does that make any sense? It's immensely confusing to the point that you just have to ignore many important things that are going on in a big groups.

That's how the interface works for anyone using the game pad beta anyways. Please fix this.

It's been this way since beta and many, many people have complained about it. If ZOS cared, they would have done something about it by now.

If you disagree with this, just imagine what we have to deal with on consoles, maybe it is possible, but I haven't even figured out a way to find out what a character name is. Only the PSN name.

I normally put significant effort into naming my characters, seems so pointless now.

I'm aware of that. But I don't know how else to reach them so bringing this up again will hopefully be a thorn in their eyes some day to finally put some badly needed work on the game pad beta. It's just difficult to even comprehend something so fundamentally wrong.

While that is just as bad you at least consistently are presented with the same name while I have to guess which character name in chat belongs to which account in my group... It's terrible either way.

Hey, on consoles you dont get character names at all, you're always seen by your account name.

One reason I never could commit to playing it on console, even though I have it. I do not carefully craft/select perfect names for my characters for them to not be known by those names. Not to mention the fact that voice-chat is the only option, and I'm less inclined to call out to or group up with some people if I have to say their awful gamertags out loud. 'Course, sometimes that works out for the best anyway.

Could that be caused by some addon? I see character names almost everywhere, including group overview and health bars. The only situations where I see account names are:
    - guild rooster
    - guild chat (there is an addon which shows char names in guild chat)
    - friend / ignore list
    - if someone sends a whisper to my account (if he sends the whisper to my char name I see his char name)

Are you saying you would not ask 'thugnasty420' for a rez?

Console players will be getting character names instead of tag names displayed in the not too distant future. Hopefully it comes with a name change function in case you gave your character a stupid name knowing no one would be able to see it.

Good, cause I have a couple characters I regularly use now that I initially gave some dumb *** names.

Well, as said this problem only occurs when using the game pad beta which is not an addon. But it would be great if there is an addon that fixes this issue.

Ah, sorry, I missed that sentance. But If your are using a part of the game that is labeled as beta, maybe just use the feedback function to tell them that it should be changed. Usually beta means that the programmers are not done with their work yet.
