The dyes only alter the base material. For many leathers it stays pretty dull. You have to have access to a lot of dyes and monkey around a long time to make mixed sets look right. With leathers some dyes work better than others. The upswing is that some dyes are sort of nacreous and multicolored, and some even make an entirely new color when combined with the material they're applied to. The style of motif you use has an effect as well. For instance daedric just sort of turns the color you dye, and some styles even have swathes that aren't affected by the dye at all, such as Primal.

none of this sounds like a good thing. This is a video game it should not have a realistic color effects again just my opinion. the overall color should be the same if they want to make metal look more shiny and cloth flat color i would be ok with that but the shade of the color should never change no matter what the material it is applied to

Most of the armor which you can die is mostly texture, not a mesh. It's detail is painted. If all would be flat out colored in the color you want, the detail would be gone and you would have plain color on the body mesh and that's it - it would look horrible.

I do not agree they can make the colors match the color you are using to dye for all materials. if i put a hunters green on a piece it should be that color no matter what i am dying if is not that way the dye system is pointless and all colors should be unlocked from the start of the game

Nah. Would look silly. Wouldn't be dyeing the pieces in a semi realistic manner then. Just hastily painting over them. Colors naturally show up different on different materials, it is what it is. I like the system as is. Grind them cheeves and you can haz all the pretty colors too.

what is the point of grinding a color if it dose not look as it should

I use to think they did it on purpose. But now I have seen this issue in so many mmos that i think it has more to do with the way the textures on different sets are or the way the code modifies color when adding new color. Or something that is not really that easy to fix or more mmos would do it i think. It seems it is easier to add 900 shades of one color so you can make your equipment match, then just make that one color look the same on all armor.
The thing that annoys me more is if i stand facing one direction my armor is blue. If i turn around my armor is pink.
