Magicka DK are in a better place than they have been in a long while, but defensively speaking, Obsidian Shield could definitely use a boost. It's scaled off max HP, but with the 50% reduction in shield strength in PvP amounts to almost nothing with the insane amounts of burst damage stamina builds and some other magicka classes have. PvP tends to favor burst damage over DoT much of the time which can put Magicka DK in a precarious situation. You're basically getting smashed in the face while getting your DoT's setup, hoping to survive long enough to see them work.

Like all magicka builds they are strongest in Group play over solo play, fair enough. But with some of the best support spells of any class bar templar I feel they are easily one of the strongest sub-classes right now. Stam DK's have a lot of what i mentioned with lots more burst, but they will become burnt out much faster. And if you are on the ball and have enough support skills morphed/slotted then they shouldn't be bursting your teammates either with you nearby.
This is a L2P issue IMO.

Can you tell me what is the best mitigation that DKs have?
Scales + cheap spamable damage shields that also boost both resistances.
Nevermind I just saw that you are a console player.
You see this is actually the part where you give a counter argument explaining the many spells that mitigate damage better then the two I have mentioned. Buuut if you want to just call me a console peasant and claim platform superiority whilst riding into the sunrise on your horse higher than your knickers then please be my un-welcome guest.
Every class has a combo that counter scales. Plus it doesnt work all the time. It is still bugged. Also scales are good in 1vs1 situation but not when you are outnumbered (unless you just spam scales and prolong your life with 10 seconds). Cheap spamable damage shield - 5% from your HP and you consider this mitigation?
Hardened armor is 10% of your HP and grants 5000+ Physical and spell resistances, THAT is mitigation.
"Every class has a combo that counters scales". Im not sure what you are getting at here. Are you saying that there shouldn't be any non-reflectable spells? Besides, I think limiting enemies from utilising some of there strongest spells is pretty good mitigation don't ya think? Crystal frags, dark flare, swallow soul, just off the top of my head, oh, and they return with 20% more damage!!
I think it's best to run a decent amount of health on him. If you are at 20k health and get caught unbuffed you will die just as fast as any other squishy LA builds. When you are strongest by being survivable to utilise lots of control I don't know why people are dumping everything into magicka and then bitching they don't have any burst. Duh, you didn't have any burst before you made yourself a squishy DK either! Why wouldn't you at least attempt to play the class to its strengths? Mitigation, sustain and control! You are strongest when surviving long enough to lay down lots of control and dot.
