I'm starting to just give up on ever getting excited for quests, this is getting pathetic. I'm now at the point of just hitting 1 1 1 1 and grinding out these quests.

Like in eastmarch with the final quest, they say that jorunn's brother goes to sovngarde and then you see that crazy portal...but all you do is go up to an area a little higher on the mountain once you go through the portal and kill the dude in like 30 seconds....are you kidding me?

Or in Riften when you are supposed to go up the throat of the World, the highest mountain in Skyrim....and you only go up like 2 flights of stairs and then the road is blocked off and you reach the end of the map....are you kidding me?

So much of this stuff seems so damn half assed. Only the guild quests and main quests seem like they have effort put into them.

And that BS excuse of "this is an mmo" doesn't apply. This game is clearly a single player game for the majority of its play through, and Zenimax's direction of releasing new content just expands upon this direction they chose.

Yup. I got really tired of questing altogether before i reached vr2 on my first character. Then it was just a source of skill points.

The Greybeards don't let anyone into the monastery and technically, High Hrothgar isn't even in the Rift, so it makes perfect sense that you can't access it. There's nothing else of interest on that mountain.

Gotta use your imagination. ;) Just because ESO's Sovngarde doesn't have quite as much atmosphere as Skyrim's doesn't make it half assed.

I only cared about my faction's quest for the 1-50 process. Once I hit VR nonsense I just spammed 1 through everything and got through it as fast as possible haha. Orsinium however, I will probably stop and smell the roses again.

Meh. I found LOTRO has the best main story in all the MMOs I've played.

Even alot of the modern single player RPG's have boring stories nowadays...

Welcome to MMO's where quests require a certain minimum amount of thinking to complete, if its too complex then you lose some of the lower base.

I used to wonder if we would see an additions or extensions of the original base game content but in the current B2P model with quarterly DLC I don't see it as even a low a priority for ZOS.

It's pretty boring, I wish it was more fun like GW2 with the dynamic events.

Yeah, GW, FF XIV, and other games have them and they help break things up if you get bored questing for a bit. It's been suggested to ZOS many, many times. They even haves something they could use as a starter : those small tears that open with a foghorn and drop daedra/vamps out of the sky. Right now they are 100% static but they could be expanded a bit and made into an event that anyone in a certain range gets credit for if they help fight off the invaders.

About sovngarde, it appears in like what 5 quests in total?
From a company point of view why should they waste money to make a place as nice as orsinium or hews bane when people probaly spend 2-3 hours per toon and never have acces to it again.

Also i enjoyed the normal quests too ( was reading story instead skipping thought it )

The quests are definitely underwhelming. When I am talking to an npc, it's hard to pay attention to what they're saying because I want to just skip all the dialogue. They're...so...boring. The voice overs are awesome but maybe add more animations during dialogue or something. And the quests themselves are very linear and nothing to get excited about. Maybe add more variety instead of find these items, follow this guy, kill these things.

The Wrothgar quests are pretty good since there is so much tension between all the factions as Kurog tries to unite the kingdom. The politics feel a bit more intriguing than the original zones, imo. But some quests definitely are a bit lame.

Today I am finishing getting my DK to V16, so I started spamming the quests since I was getting impatient. It's tough to listen to Lady Laurant's idiocy when I'm half way through V15 and I know she's just going to screw over Stibbons anyways.

Where is the quest where I get to help Stibbons run off with all her money? I would do that quest all day.

    Silly ****.

I actually enjoy questing in ESO and I think it's done much better than in other MMOs. most quests don't require me to kill 15+ enemies or gather 15+ items, like other games. it's much more immersive, and I haven't got bored so far (I'm just lv 30 though)

IDK if animations would help. The animations seem all so choreographed for certain broad emotions that it just seems fake. They don't seem to fit in with the context of the dialogue.

And you start to see how there are seemingly 4 voice actors for each race or something. The last quest I just did an hour ago literally had the same voice actor for 2 npc's in a row within the quest line. With the same face. And no they weren't twins.

I'm almost 50 so I think I can stomach through another 5 lvls, but I can't do this crap for 2 other alliances, especially when there are no more guild/main quests to break the monotony every 5 lvls....

veteran ranks will probably lose me unless i can find a way to avoid grinding through horribly dull quests in the other alliances

If they gave us a difficulty slider for the quests and story mobs/bosses I'd be happy. I just don't like blasting through everything in 10 seconds flat. Even Sinmur at the end of the rift quest line took 30 seconds and that was only because I had to stop and activate the shards of Wuthrad every few seconds. I don't even need better rewards, I just want to have to avoid mechanics and actually try to stay alive. The final fight of a zones story line should take a few minutes at the very least.

I think it really depends on the zone. For me, EP overall had the least engaging story, with Eastmarch probably being bottom. But the storylines of Rivenspire (DC) and Reaper's March (AD) were great, and are easily my favourite zones in the base game in terms of story.

Combat during all quests is mostly trivial though; the quests are there for the dialogue and the story, not the combat (which, in fact, is in opposition to most MMO quests that I know of, where it usually seems to centre around the killing of mobs for some trivial reason).

You can just spam the same E to skip through the dialog faster, it doesn't have to be 1. Saves lifting a finger on the keyboard.

    @mrDenim Chicken

I have only been playing for just over a year now, and I can tell before people complained, that bosses were difficult to kill in the single player quest of ESO. I remember it took me almost 20 minutes to kill Molag Bal the 1st time on my Sorc, my 1st toon.

Then my 2nd toon Templar killed Molag Bal in 5 minutes. then my 3Rd toon a Dk killed him in 2 minutes.

    So
people complained that bosses were to OP. unfortunately ZOS listened to them. Hence it became easy.
    Now the opposite is happening

VR4 here and still enjoying most of the quests. Sure most of the quests follow familiar formula but they hide it nicely.
Could be worse, like in Skyrim.

    lol, what?

Skryim's quests were much, much more interesting than in this game

I don't know if it's because this game has way more quests, but I really started to see the skeleton of the game around lvl 40.

I mean they are relatively good for an mmo sure, but it becomes pretty excessive and most of the quests are super quick and you barely do anything for them.

Not to mention, the voice acting can be extremely hit or miss. Some voice actors get me really into the quest, and others sound so cartoonish my girlfriend even asked if I was watching southpark when she was in the other room. I have to physically restrain myself from eye-rolling sometimes.
