ah, I see. Not capped - at 390 something. I didn't think it also applied to CP. Thanks for the tip  Too bad I already totally wasted it on my one character. Now I know for the other one at least.

You can't waste it. It has unlimited uses for this week. It is in your momentos for all of your characters, you don't need to do the quest more than once.

oh no way, I didn't know it was reusable. Very good to know. I'm not a noob, I swear!

Thanks for the info everyone

    Happy grinding!

Just a quick thought on the new anniversary event.....

So there is this traveling Chef that you meet to get your CAKE to celebrate the 2 year anniversary (let's not talk about no celebration for 1 year). I get a voucher from the Crown Store (of all places), not a letter thanking me for playing the game or any creative background story. Then I activate the voucher and head off to the npc.

When I get to him he is on the docks.... a little odd (seeing he is a chef that needs a kitchen), but I play along. He asks me to get ingredients to make the cake.... so off I go and I am back in a flash! After handing him the ingredients he begins to make the cake...... wait.... he makes the cake on the docks? With NO oven, fire or anything remotely needed to actually bake a cake?!?! OH come on ZOS... that was just lazy!

Well, at least it gives the xp buff. I guess that was worth logging in for, well maybe if I actually play the game more than an hour before logging off to play another MMO.

so dragons and magic is ok but magically baking a cake slips your understanding? he used a spell ofc ;)

All the ingredients he needs are right there next to him and on the boat behind him in the containers. Not even marked owned, so you don't even need to go anywhere.

All I did was go to the grocer that was just like a 100 feet away... not a big deal, but knowing you can loot the containers near him is a plus for my alts.

That's part of the scam. He has a deal with the local grocers to trick adventurers into buying the ingredients when his own stash is right next to him. He's counting on your fear of being caught and fined/killed to prevent you from stealing them.

Once you make the cake, all characters can use it. Just remember to have a slice every two hours. Oh, and I discovered the timer pauses if you log off the game.

However, I would use the cake if your not at the CP Cap, or, for that matter just above the current one. I got a champ point just doing some writs and a few of TG dailies last night. And this was without an Ambrosia Potion

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Here's the full book, if anyone's interested:

    Donolon Bakes

Whether you need a perfect pastry for a simple celebration or a colossal cake to acknowledge an awesome anniversary, you won't find a better collection of recipes than those scribed by yours truly, Chef Donolon, the acclaimed Wizard of Whisking and veteran of baking challenges from Highrock to Morrowind. Every recipe has been handcrafted and personally tested in the most rigorous culinary conditions.

For a truly epic cake, perfect for the most precious occasion, try Donolon's Jubilee Cake. Its many layers and towering presentation will awe your audience, while its moist texture creates a festival on your taste buds. Of course, no one can duplicate my recipe exactly, so if you want the ultimate experience, get me to bake one for you. The current waiting list is three years and seven months, so plan accordingly for your special occasion.

Or, be lucky enough to acquire one of my Jubilee Cake Vouchers—that will leap you to the head of the line!

    Donolon's Jubilee Cake

    Ingredients:

    —Bananas, sliced, not mashed
    —Flour, sifted
—Honey, from northern climes works best
    —Charmed Mixing Bowl, proprietary

    Directions:

Add ingredients to a Charmed Mixing Bowl. Whisk vigorously. Wait for ingredients to magically congeal into a cake with multiple tiers. Slice and enjoy with friends.

(If you don't happen to own a Charmed Mixing Bowl, and I'm absolutely certain you don't, you'll either have to bake the ingredients the old-fashioned way or find me so that I can prepare it for you. But see my earlier note regarding the waiting list for my much-in-demand services.)

Good thing I did the quest on my khajiit, who is of the opinion that anyone who doesn't want their ingredients stolen shouldn't leave them lying around so close to a guy offering free cake.

(And also that the cake would be vastly improved by the addition of some moon sugar.)

While he may not have a stove, it's interesting to know that the player may have originally been intended to mix it all together. Here's a few items that were datamined, but aren't used for the event (including the Charmed Mixing Bowl):

Oh, I believe in magic. It is just a shame that most game developers use it way too often to remedy the laziness of actually producing good content and story. All in all this was thrown together in a hurry to put into the game for a last minute honor of 2 years... heck they even forgot to do anything at all for the 1 year.

He cheats by using a magical bowl of cake creation (he even says so in dialogue). It is most certainly odd, and I suspect daedric tampering with reality. Either that or he's an archmage who likes baking cake, or he inherited some ancient relic.

Always the easy way out explaining away everything with magic. Whatever happened to good ol' hard work and sweat lol

Do you really want sweat in your cake? :P
Seriously though it mostly made me chuckle and its not something to take too seriously.

All in all this was thrown together in a hurry to put into the game for a last minute honor of 2 years... heck they even forgot to do anything at all for the 1 year.

I'm not really a big fan of events in MMO's. A real event in my view is one devised by players. They should make the game with that in mind. Create features that let our imaginations spur new entertainment. This was at the core of a lot of old MMO gaming. Being on a treadmill just dulls the fun of an MMO. Thankfully this is event is not so bad. I'm just of the opinion that event content on MMO's is shamefully bad, and mostly designed to fill seats for the rewards, but not designed for actual fun. I've come to the realization that I'm disgusted by such shameful devices, and its in large part what has killed STO for me for the most part. I really hope the ZoS guys are very careful about how they treat this kind of content. Sometimes keeping up with the Joneses is a bad idea. I love the notion that ESO struck out on its own path, and I think they should stick to their guns a bit. I'm digressing though, but just wanting to state that I hope they don't ruin the vision of the game like STO did (and many others). Most of us didn't come to ESO for a korean grindfest (neither did STO players by the by).

Back to my earlier point. I really hope they give us options to be creative as players. I realize that this game isn't SWG, but if they can just give us paths to build and do things creatively I think it would go a long way toward longevity, and dial back much of the pressure they feel to generate content. My concern is that they might some day be forced into rushing poor quality product/content to meet deadlines, and like many mmo's fall into a comfortable complacency of grinding out poor quality content. This is what I really don't want to see in ESO. When an MMO falls down that road, standalone games like Skyrim/Fallout quickly become FAR more entertaining and favorable.
