Whilst questing around Auridon today I was semi-afk and came back to glance just at the right moment for a nearby Imp to catch the light a certain way through a small tree that made it look like some sort of super Imp.

That got me thinking...

Anyone that played Age of Conan will remember that after killing the same type of mobs for a while there was an increasing chance that a stronger, larger, mini-boss version would come along to defend their spawning grounds.

This added an awesome level of immersion and excitement to break up the monotony of just killing certain creatures.

I thought that for ESO it would be especially cool if these random chance stronger versions would sometimes insta-spawn after killing a certain type multiple times in an area, and that these mini-boss versions would have a significantly increased chance to drop the achievement trophy items for that type of mob (if they had them).

Just musing, but what do you think?

Would make it interesting when people try to grind a location, especially, if you kept getting the boss versions or there was a super-boss after you grinded through several boss-level versions. Reminds me of the world boss just south of Davon's Watch in Stonefalls (Strifeswarm Hive).

Aren't there already stronger and weaker mobs in the same area? Like strong Wamasu among Kagouti, Trolls among Bears, or Giants among Cats? Or Daedroths among Clanfears...

    In some places, yes.

But to have a random spawn of a mini boss would certainly put a hitch in the pattern of the grinders......
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
